It must be so surreal for them to give their beautiful babies the a lot of the life they never had.

Edit: And Tyler Perry is her godfather! She's a lucky little girl.
the life they never had?
Harry was a prince and she was a spoiled girl sent to private school hanging around TV production soundstages. I guess you're saying the kids have privacy? Meghan didn't have any lack of privacy - harry did but his mom tried to give him as normal a life as she could

After watching the documentary, I definitely think she thought she “knew” - she assumed the attention would be like it is in Hollywood. She wasn’t prepared for a whole machine made off of stories about them every day.

I totally agree... I've had a few debates about this in the other thread. I think people in the UK, or royal fans in the US, underestimate how little most people knew about the BRF or the institution. We're oversaturated now but I had a similar upbringing to Meghan and no one I knew followed or knew anything about the BRF or the UK media. Even to this day I have a hard time understanding how the UK media can be so bad to be honest. Everyone says they're the worst, and it's not like I disbelieve them, but I don't fully comprehend what makes them so bad compared to the US media.

I don't think Meghan had a very spoiled upbringing. I wouldn't be surprised if she got a scholarship or financial aid to attend Immaculate Heart. In the documentary she said she and her mom lived in an apartment they rented above a garage. And her dad lived in an apartment himself (according to Daily Mail).

Agreed. I also came away with the impression that she’s someone who tries really hard and is possibly an “overachiever.” So when the media started bashing her she couldn’t understand or handle it like someone who is from that world.
I think that’s why it was so devastating for her. She said something along the lines of trying everything and they still didn’t like her.

This is why I stay in the APPRECIATION thread.....facts are much APPRECIATED here, thank you.

Judging as an American, she was way too good at the job and more importantly, she actually wanted to DO her job. She came in ready to hit the ground running with fresh ideas and initiatives that overshadowed people who've had decades plus of experience (at taxpayers expense) without much to show for it. No matter what she did they were never going to accept her because she brought to life (literally) what was missing in TRF. She also gave Harry a confidence that had to be tempered as he is the 'spare' and can't overshadow the future King.

Judging as a Brit, and a taxpayer, this is exactly what we didn't want her to do. We wanted her to ease herself in gently, learn the ropes, listen to people who were advising her and for her to be there to support the Monarchy and not to overshadow it. She would've been fine. I'm quite sad it's ended like this. Sad for The Queen, Prince Philip, Charles and William. Also sad for Harry as I see no way back.

Should we start a thread called “I feel somewhere on the neutral spectrum about Meghan and Harry”

this is a good point. I am by no means a fan, I had no idea who she even was prior to 2018. I don't care about either of them.

However, when I see one human being being constantly, horribly attacked and villified for simply existing and speaking her truth, I cease to remain impartial. Believing the absolute worst of someone, wishing for her demise, attacking her from every single possible angle they can think of - we forget she's a human being, just like we are. She's been dehumanized to the point of no return. That is what I find disgusting. We can do better.
