It’s also less funny considering similar things are literally happening to women in the world as we speak.

It’s easy to think he’s just making a joke and being over the top when you live in a place where you don’t have to worry about something similar happening to you. It’s probably less funny to women who could be paraded through the street for any small offense at any moment.

@Vlad I was thinking about your post last night. You have built a successful business thanks to (mostly) women. You have a daughter. I was surprised that your only reaction to these comments was light hearted and humorous. You have a platform and your voice is respected here. You have an opportunity to make a difference.
Often our responses/reactions are based on where we live and our life experiences.

I fully support freedom of expression and speech. Unfortunately, we are witnessing this expression turning into acts of horrific violence.

I know we are told to use the ignore button but sometimes this just seems like unspoken acceptance.

I will be disappointed but will not be surprised if my post is deleted.

It's Clarkson. His opinion is worth nought. He is known for saying outlandish things to provoke reactions, and those of us familiar with him will ignore him because that is the best thing to do with that kind of ridiculous human being. He craves the attention- hence his choice of career- so the correct response is literally to ignore him. He's trash.
If someone is known to be a feminist ally and for their politeness, like Benedict Cumberbatch, said something this ugly, the outrage would be understandable and would also lead to change. Getting horrified at Clarkson only plays into his hands. This is all he wanted with that GoT reference, and people being outraged at him will not teach him (or others like him) any lessons. It will only embolden them to repeat such outrageous behaviour because they live off the chaos.

Before you think that I'm siding with Clarkson in any way, I'll point out that I have repeatedly said on various threads, the cottage industry around hating this couple is insane and needs to be shut down. There are haters who cross all sorts of lines and it is not okay. I'm all for people calling out H&M's inconsistencies and misbehaviour (as you know, I do it myself), but I do not condone outright abuse and hate speech. It's unacceptable and I wish that regulation of social media platforms were advanced enough to prevent these clout-chasers from monetizing their abusive rhetoric. That alone would shut down many of the more vocal haters who feed the outrage to get more views and thus more $$$.

Hopefully now that H&M have shared their side in depth, they will just keep their heads down and focus on their chosen life of service, so that all of that side business of commenting on them would die. The more they put themselves at the centre of the story, rather than the less privileged their foundation seeks to help, the more this will go on. I hope they figure that out sooner rather than later.

I respect and hear what you’re saying but I’m a little tired of this “this is just what he does” narrative. It in no way makes it okay and this is how acceptance of that type of behavior snowballs.

Regardless, I see most of the sane internet condemning what he said. Like @OriginalBalenciaga said, I’m largely just irritated that we were mansplained to just accept it and we should find it humorous.

If one cares to research, Jeremy Clarkson is a clown that no one should take seriously.

And my research shows he is friends with The Queen Consort.

Irrespective of his association to KP, having someone write in print their desire to pelt excrement at a naked woman parading thru the streets of Britain is something to take seriously. These aren't just words anymore, they are manifesting into a crisis of unprovoked attacks and violence against women. When the social media accounts of these perpetrators are revealed, they are followers of "manosphere" and "red pill" content on YouTube that sanction this very racist, sexist "humor" that people just happen to find so funny.

Yes, I can see why it's frustrating to hear people writing this off because this is (unfortunately) his norm. I am also struggling with the right way to respond to him, tbh. He wants outrage and I don't want him to win like that, but you're right, it's possible that ignoring him only allows this to escalate and snowball.
Actually, it's the papers that should never have printed that rubbish to begin with. Some editors should have had the sense not to let this pass. Such a shame that they care more about money than morals.

Maybe because this issue hasn't really made the news here, that is why I'm not seeing the significance. I don't think it's inciting violence given how over the top it is... that's a pretty big statement for a hyperbolic "wish" from a nobody that no one would take literally. If he starts organizing plans to actually do it I'll change my mind.

There are a lot of nasty people out there and they have rights to say stupid things like this, and incentive to do it. And famous people get it the worst. It seems exhausting to me to create a constant debate over every new one popping up when even M+H have said it's better for THEIR mental health to ignore the trolls.... it's better for ours too. In the media, I think people need to stop giving outrageous statements the air to perpetuate the conversation because that's feeding into the tabloid-social media frenzy that's tearing the public apart over polarizing issues like this. I get this forum is for talking about anything so I'm not criticizing that.

About Camilla's friendship to Jeremy: I read that Mirror article and really can't figure out if he truly is her "friend" or if he's doing what lots of people seem to do with the royal family which is make small encounters seem big for social points. If the height of their "friendship" was just smoking together, I assume at events, I mean that's really more of an acquaintance. If he is her friend, I wonder if he will be after this... I predict we won't see them photographed being chummy.

I certainly hope your post is not deleted. Your comments are in response to what many of us here are trying to give Harry & Meghan a little support or to offset some of the truly vile negativity on the internet.

I hadn't planned on watching the Netflix series but in light of the comments I'm reading on the internet I think I will start watching today.

The problem is… words and hyperboles turn into things like this:

Again, journalists are not the topic.
This thread was created so fans of Meghan and Harry could post photos and share their positive thoughts and opinions of the couple’s good works or fashion or adventures or whatever you wish — it is in the theme of appreciating them.

Who Camilla lunches with is not that.
