I have no thoughts on MM in particular, but that passage by Clarkson referencing GoT's Cersei shaming in King's Landing had me chuckle. I've been following Jezza for 2 decades as a prominent car journalist, and he's definitely got a way with words. Not the first time he's said things that caused controversy.
Would you chuckle if he’d written that about one of your family members?

Off topic drama between members or questions about moderation are deleted, as has always been the case here. If you have any questions please drop a note to a mod or @Vlad.

Also sometimes posts get missed in a cleanup, other posts may be deleted because they quoted material from a deleted post.

Of course TPF does not condone parading people naked through the streets but it did come up as a discussion as it was a quote from a journalist. Just as it came up in the GOT thread years ago.

We are doing our best to tamp down the drama in these threads and seek your understanding.

Please get back to appreciating Harry and Meghan.

I notice that these "missed posts" tend to happen much more frequently in the other thread, whereas this thread is handled with comparatively more scrutiny.

Cersei is a fictional character - Clarkson was referencing an actual human being - a woman who is a mother with children. I am afraid I don't find what is funny and I am a HUGE GOT fan (no fan of the fictional Cersei). Perhaps this thinking is why the other thread is allowed to run amok of vitriol and hatred.

I'm sorry...that's what you are taking away from that tweet?

OMG @Vlad you are so off topic. LOL

I'd like to see one quote where Howard Stern, Bill Mahr, or Chelsea Handler said anything remotely debase as "hating a woman on a cellular level, such that they wanted to see her paraded naked in the streets of the U.S. pelted with excrement while the crowd shouts SHAME at her". This is not funny (and I have a vulgarish self-deprecating sense of humor). It's beyond vile especially when Meghan has publicly revealed mental health issues (regardless of whether you believe her or not).

There are articles upon articles out there with competing rundowns of the worst things these people have said so I won’t rehash but my point is… there’s lots of people saying outrageous things out there. I just don’t get why this is a big deal. Is this person a head of state? A lister in any profession? Well-respected academic? It’s a random opinion and he’s entitled to it so this is very ignore-able. Omid is giving it wings by drawing attention to it.

Jeremy Clarkson is not a head of state but is a close friend to the wife of one - the Queen Consort (close enough to be mentioned as such in the magazine where she is on the cover). He was also recently invited to her private luncheon. Omid was only highlighting what was shared (in print, no less) and confirming that this prick has a very close association to KP (which is already being downplayed by the media bots on twitter). This is why Meghan and Harry don't need to explain anything anymore - the rabid British media are doing enough to hang themselves.

If one cares to research, Jeremy Clarkson is a clown that no one should take seriously.

He says provocative, often horrible things for attention and he is obviously good at that. His dreams say more about him than any woman he thinks about.

He will enjoy every word uttered about him, and the more shocked and vitriolic sounding the more he'll like it.

FYI he is not a friend of Queen Camila. Large scale events and their respective guest lists are proposed by others, all QC does is turn-up.

I did not read about it from Omid, I basically ignore anything that involves his name. I think we’re discussing it here because it was published in a newspaper and posted on this forum…and in a positive way (funny, loved it, etc were the comments).

I‘ll also add I love Howard Stern and agree he is often provocative. But if he wrote a piece like this, about a woman who is already under attack and controversial, I would be upset too.

In this time in the world I don’t think we should be ignoring these statements anymore. I think we need to be outraged. They are inciting violence. And we know there is the actual danger…there are too many examples of why but the most recent I can think of is the attack on Paul ******.

There was a time those types of comments would have been condemned. It breaks my heart that this is now considered normal, or worse celebrated. But here we are.

It’s also less funny considering similar things are literally happening to women in the world as we speak.

It’s easy to think he’s just making a joke and being over the top when you live in a place where you don’t have to worry about something similar happening to you. It’s probably less funny to women who could be paraded through the street for any small offense at any moment.
