Hi

Yes, I have mine insured under my home policy and also my car policy. Although the car policy only pay up to £200 for a bag theft, which is why I have them listed on home policy too!

My BF is an insurance agent, and here in the US, things like expensive bags, watches, jewellry go under your home insurance normally and you list them all separately I believe. I do not have my insured though as my collection is still quite small. In the future, I'm sure I will though.

I bought $20k insurance coverage for my bags under my home policy. The insurance company told me I needed to take pictures or video recordings of my possessions. I'm so glad I bought it. It gives me peace of mind.

I just bought my first $1500+ bag, and although in the grand scheme of handbags/manbags, it isn't that expensive, it was my big purchase for the summer :yahoo:.

Someone mentioned that I should look into insuring it, since it is made of very supple calfskin, which could be ruined relatively easily .

Does anyone know how I should approach this particular problem? I don't own a home (my parents do though), and as most of you have said, that is how you insure your bags...

Should I contact their homeowners insurance company?

Thanks for any help!!

What about us who live in apartments?
I do have renter's insurance but the coverage on personal property especially clothing and bags are very limited.

How to get higher coverage for this when you live in an apartment?

^^I live in an apartment condo and my condo fees do not cover personal possessions, only common property so I purchased my insurance separately with the same company. If I were you, I would speak to the insurance company that your apartment deals with and see if you can get a higher coverage or a separate plan.

If you had tenants insurance this is something it would cover, but something that should be brought up with your agent to see if you needed extra coverage over and above your tenants package.

Just a tip guys but when insures pay out (or should i say IF) they will lower the cost of most things for depreciation as we know LV doesn't really suffer wear and tear like other items and some bags increase in value so every so often I look for my bags on ebay and print out sold listings as proof of value not sure if they'd accept it but it helps show the "market value" of your used bags KWIM
