You can include this in your Home Contents Insurance, which can cover items like laptops, watches, jewellery, cameras, in the house. Most policies also include cover for loss of these items when travelling, but some policies might ask for an additional premium (quite small amount) to cover too.

Check with your current insurance agent about coverage limits on clothing & accessories. Many standard policies limit how much you can recover in those categories, and are not sufficient for those of us with higher end items.

If this is the case, you can purchase additional cover as a supplement to your current insurance. It's often called something like Valuable Items, Valuable Articles, or Unique Collections cover. The great thing about these supplemental policies is that they tend to cover more loss scenarios like "mysterious disappearance" and they also cover pairs and sets - if one item in the pair gets damaged, they replace both.

Not sure who offers it in the UK - in the USA Chubb and Travelers have good policies.

My fantastic other half bought me my first Mulberry - a beautiful Oak Alexa recently.
After many years of wanting a Mulberry, I now have my own and I'm smitten. Infact, slightly obsessed I'd say.

So, I've been thinking about insurance for peace of mind more than anything else really....do any of you insure your bags? if so, who do you use? :D

Thanks,
Claire x

Hi, I roughly include the total bag replacement value in the house insurance. I have all the bag photos & receipt pics (only expensive end ones though) in photobucket. So if the house burned down or burgled, I have something to recover against.

...When I added these up first time & declared the amount to DH... well let's not think about it

I think I assumed (perhaps wrongly) that they'd be covered under home contents. I think on our policy individual items valued at less than £1k are covered. I just make sure all the receipts are kept in the safe x

My dad won't pay the additional home insurance because of mine and my mums bag - will probably rocket thats why!
Our collections includes 3 Mulberry's, 2 Chloe, 1 Miu Miu, 1 Dior and a Chanel! I pray each night that we don't get robbed or burnt down!

Insurance should not really be very expensive my daughter uni policynfor room contents was 15,0000 and around 7.00 per month that was for fire and theft.
I also have all my collection photographed and update it with every purchase and sale another great item is builders inn the back of their transit have fireproof and very hard to break into chests retailing at around 150 each. I am having one installed for when I go on hols it's bolted to the floor usually installed in a lft space then you lock all your valuables away and holidaybworry free!

I'm buying a house with my OH later this year so currently still (unfortunately) living back with the parents until we get our place so I don't think my beautiful Mulberry is covered on my mums house insurance policy.

Do any of you insure your bags outside a home insurance policy?
