Depending how much each is worth i think they may be covered by your home insurance. However for high value ones, you can add seperate high value items to your home insurance. For instance, my mum has added my chanel maxi flap as a separate item because the limit on paying out for a single item is less than the value of the bag! Weve also done the same for jewellery etc

Yes I've paid a little extra & have mine insured under the contents insurance as they only cover upto a certain amount for certain items (which was about the equivalent of 1 Mulberry bag, if that!!) Thought it better to be safe than sorry! x

I'll give my insurance co a call tomorrow then. was just thinking how awful it would be to get burgled and have them all stolen. even with insurance money you could not necessarily get them all again once sold out, iykwim. Especially when most of mine have been money off deals and MW steals in the first place! xx

Think you'll feel better knowing that they're covered, god forbid I'd ever need to claim though as I'd never get the same bags again (same goes for most of us I think), the thought of that almost makes me want to pass out!! :faint: x

girls, will your insurance rocket if you list them as all risks/specific items like jewelery and watches?

I was checking our house insurance quotes recently, which was coming in ok, until I listed wedding rings/engagment/eternity rings and 2 watches & then the cost of the policy went through the roof!

Anytime we go away, I wrap my bags in a quilt and shove them to the bottom of the hotpress!

I've just assumed that my bags and jewellery is covered, as my dad didn't say anything about it when he sorted out my insurance :p But then again, as a student I don't have the biggest collection of things!

Think it depends on the individual company, all vary slightly, I didn't have to list/give value of each one separately - just a total for all. The total I have given is a true total (rrp), not more - as if I valued them higher I would pay more for my cover & if I valued them less than they are worth, then I wouldn't get the equivalent cash value if they couldn't replace the item. If I buy more bags I can always increase the amount of cover & pay more. (My policy covers 'new for old' & if they cannot replace the item they then give a cash equivalent instead.) Hope that helps! x

The situation here is that most burglars are looking for easily movable goods so that they can get money or trade to get drugs. However, I bet if there was a woman burglar, she would have been in your closet looking for some high end goods.

Are bags something burgulars take? I think you would need specialist knowlegde to know what was worth what. I was brugled a few months ago and all of my high-end clothes were left untouched. Although so was the (scottish) money I had (even though they had rifled though my purse) so maybe the guys that did me over were a bit dim?

Yep. Then I relaised that most bags would go in a mugging situation, which is why I edited and removed my post. Not sure how much the insurance premium would go up in this case, but my boyfriend insured his laptop to be covered out of home and it cost him a lot more a year. Saying that I think it is reasonable to expect a bag to be taken out of home, but I never really know about insurance companies. there are too many loopholes for me to get my head around
