I work in insurance and in most cases items up to £2000 are covered under the policy (but please check the limits on your policys girls), we listed a few things above this ammount, mostly jewelery and watches and our premium went up quite a lot even with my staff discount, some companys offer discounted contents and even free contents insurance if you get your buildings cover with them it just depends what's are running at the time of your renewals for new customers.

Thanks all for your answers! I will defo call my insurer tomorrow and see what the situation is re my policy as I defo need to establish whether my bags are currently covered. If not, I need to sort something out. Just hope it won't be really expensive to do so! xx

This is an interesting thread IWantANewBag. I'd never even thought about insurance for my bags but considering how much they cost it certainly is worth checking the insurance policy. The trouble is DH deals with this and doesn't know how many bags I have or even more importantly 'how much' I paid!

Zara, I'm sure that your 'situation' is similar to that of many of the ladies on here. Most dp/dh's would draw a sharp intake of breath to find out the total insured values, lol. I hope that that is of some comfort to you.... xx

ha ha i cant get any thing past my dh. so lucky you lol but just say you got 50% off but you need to list rrp or something.
good post tho its madew me think and i think tomorrow there will be a bunch of us calling insurance companys... so thanks

Good point re the insurance IWANB.

Don't forget it's not just burglars nicking bags that you need to worry about. What about a pipe bursting and flooding the place where you keep your bags or (god forbid) a house fire? :faint:

Better check our policy - it covers up to a certain value for individual items. I've never insured jewellery or watches separately. Definitely need to check.

Same here... on both counts!!! I maybe need to "take over" the house insurance.....!!

I think, the best insurance - money in the bank. Your insurer will claw it all back via higher premium. If you read the policy closely, all small print, you will see it is not worth the paper it is written on. For example, expensive items are insured, but their total cost should not exceed.... £"very little".
By not insuring every bag, you save so much money every year, that, if you put the difference in the bank, should you lose your bags, it would come to about the same.
Insurance are advertised so you buy peace of mind, you never know whether the claim will be paid. They could just decide, when you claim, that you have not disclosed that your greatgrandmother in 1892 lost a pair of glasses...

Oh gosh I have never even thought about this?! I think my CC covers me for things I buy on it if I register them. I have to look into that. I would be mega upset if my Alexa got damaged or stolen :-(

Good point re the accidental damage, Lola. I suspect that I will need a seperate poilcy tbh. It will depend how high the quote is as to whether I decide to take one out. i know that individual jewelry policies can be VERY expensive. xx

Hello kind ladies,

As you increase your investment in high-end bags, did it ever occur to you that getting them insured becomes mandatory and necessary? Do you carry insurance for your bags? And what company offers this kind of insurance and cover it for its declared value.

Many thanks.
