i can't stand it when a bag does not rest comfortably on my shoulder and falls off/digs in/or is just clumsy! uck!

i also refuse to buy any bag that is too 'busy' whether it be monogramming, bling, tassels, etc

Deal breakers for me are

cheap leather
logos
fake leather/pleather
pastel colors
white/cream (on most occasions, although I will make an exception(s)
contrast stitching (on most occasions, although I will make an exception(s)

A bag that is less than 15" across is TOO SMALL to be usable to me, so that would be a dealbreaker for sure! It must be very BIG, like 18-20" wide. I will bend for clutches, but NOT MUCH! (I don't know WHY they are all so SMALL!!!! It's SO tough to find a big CLUTCH.)

Oh...resurrecting a thread..
Mine are those interior zip pockets that split a bag in half...unless I have a tablet I want to keep safe i dont really need it...just means I cant fill my bag up...I have even done a truely evil thing and cut them out of any cheaper bags I have.
And I dont really like dark interiors....I need to see whats in my bag and dont really want to carry a touch to do it.

This thread is so old, but so entertaining.

Too big or too deep. I want the bag to hold my stuff, but I also want to be able to find my stuff, so no black holes. I tend to prefer E/W bags for this reason.
No shoulder straps. Crossbody is better, but it has to have a strap.
No zipper. I don't mind a flap over the zipper too much, like Longchamp.
Fussy closures. I want to be able to get in and feel around for what I need and close it back again if the bag is on my shoulder. I don't want to have to try to get the two pieces lined up just right to close it.
Flap bags. The flap is just in the way and annoying. A magnetic closure helps some, but arg.
Doesn't open wide. The thing I hate about my LV Pallas BB is the ring that the strap attaches to goes through both sides of the bag - so you can't open the bag any wider than the ring. I hate that.
Heavy even when empty. I will not buy a bag that's heavy empty. I sold a Coach tote for this reason and I stay away from many D&B leathers for this reason.

I can't believe I forgot to put this on my list, but I do NOT buy bags that need to be babied. I'll be kind to a bag, won't abuse it, but I won't baby it either.

I think the only deal breaker I can think of would be a plastic zipper. Particularly an outside zipper! I can deal with an inside plastic zip pocket although it’s not the best.

My bags need to be able to fit my phone. I’m not that person that constantly has a phone in her hand. I’ve turned away a lot of really cute because simply because my phone doesn’t fit.

I need a shoulder stra and a top handle even though the last bag I bought doesn’t have the top handle.

I don’t like middle pockets. They take up valuable real estate.

A little structure. I fight like slouch, but it can’t be completely stiff.

I agree... a middle zippered section that flops over so you have to move it every time you want something drives me crazy! If it is rigid and stays out of the way that is fine.

1. Non-leather bags
2. Bags that don't go over the shoulder
3. Bags I can't take out in the rain or snow. But may make exceptions.
4. Monograms
5. Bags with a hard to access interior
6. Cheap leather, patent leather
8. Bags that look like they have faces on them.
9. Boxy, stiff bags. Leather MUST be soft.
10. Bags that are very popular.
11. Any light colored bag, especially white or beige.
