Handbag Deal breakers Thread

I am always drawn to bag with :
• certain color (black or tan),
• roamy interior (i have lots of drawstring model), and
• one strap/ handle. Most bags are double handles, and one handle tends to fall off my shoulder very often, and I am not comfortable to put the fallen one back to my shoulder.
• structured bags, as they still look beautiful when resting and sitting. Just as beautiful when I am wearing them..

After I own several bags, these are my lessons that I have learned, and (hopefully) I wont repeat :
1. Heavy bag. Two pounds or more is a no go.
2. Strapdrop for shoulder bag is shorter than 12 inches, i have thick arms
3. Slim bag or the depth is below 4 inches. Eventhough the bag looks big at a glance for example it is wide and tall, slim bag is not as roamy as I initially thought it would be. That’s why I like drawstring model as it’s depth is 6-8 inches.. I always carry some kind of pashmina and sometimes a 500ml bottle of water, in the bag.. Slouchy bag does not apply since the bottom is larger than the base..
4. Crossbody strapdrop on shortest setting is still too long for my figure (usually more than 20’), making the bag rest below my hip. I am 5’2 so you know what i mean
4. Paradox to my love of structured bags, now I want to sell my LV petit noe epi because I am always anxious everytime my children get near then sit on my bag. Epi is a durable and very beautifully structured leather.. I enjoy just looking at it when I’m not wearing it. The problem is when once the epi leather is folded, the marking is eternal and bit change the shape..

For me it's:
1. When it's too small to fit my phone. I looove mini bags, but this is the bare minimum. Not into having to buy a separate necklace pouch/case for my phone.
2. The clasp or closure is way too difficult or annoying to open/close.
3. Really heavy bags. I'm approaching my mid-30s, and my back/shoulder will hurt for days afterwards lol. Hence why I love the lightness of mini bags, I realized I can carry a lot less.
4. Suede because it's too hard to maintain.
5. The color of new Vachetta leather. I would only buy LV preloved because I prefer the honey patina.

I think I really only have one dealbreaker, the bag has to be leather. I don’t buy non-leather designer bags. I have 1 LV Speedy and I do like some of the Gucci Marmont velvet bags, but overall, I can’t bring myself to spend designer money if it’s not leather.

I really liked the look of the Chiara Ferragni Eyelike bag this year but when I went to buy it I saw it was vegan leather so I passed  It’s probably silly but it just seems less “luxurious” to me especially when the bag is still expensive! I think vegan leather is a great option for some people but I just don’t want to spend my money on it personally

1. Bags that show dirt or wear too quickly. Most of my bags are dark colors because of this, and I won't even look at vachetta.

2. Bags with only a top handle. My shoulders get bored easily and need more stimulation.

3. Suede. Just - no.

4. Velvet. In my house? Not a chance. It'd never survive.

5. Mini bags. I have a wallet on chain, but it's uncomfortably small because I generally expect bags to carry things.

6. Unnecessary hardware. Because it's unnecessary.

I could probably come up with more if I were feeling particularly fussy, but that list is a good start.

Oooh yes to #2! I cannot do a hand-held only bag. A shoulder strap or crossbody strap is a must for me.
