I figured it would be best to bump this old thread instead of starting a new one. I'm considering the 18K gucci gold stud earrings, does anyone have these? The price point is lower than the Tiffany heart earrings and it seems more simplistic and elegant. Thoughts?

I don't have these but I have 2 other pairs of Gucci earrings. All their 18K jewellery is out of this world beautiful and the best contemporary quality I have seen anywhere, and I mean anywhere.

You're the resident Gucci expert, so your opinion means alot. Bloomie's has a sale and I can get 20% off. I will probably get them. Thanks!

So glad to have found this thread! I have serious lust for gucci jewelry. I obviously am dying to own the large gold horsebit bracelet but that's not a reality at the moment. I did recently try on the sterling silver large horsebit bracelet and I was surprised that I liked it just as much as the gold. I think its ridiculously overpriced for silver but I might just go ahead and get it. Then again, maybe I should just wait until I can afford the gold. What do you guys think?

If you buy silver rather than gold will you always be thinking I wish it were gold, or do you wear lots of silver too (like me) and would always be thinking about getting round to owning both anyway someday?

Certainly, it's Gucci's most classic, iconic piece, gold or silver.

I think it's on a par with other designers' silver prices. I would go and try this on , it's very large and heavy. There are so many horse-bit variation options AT, some less expensive too, like the diamantissima (2 sizes) and the single horse bit that now comes either partially 18KT gold plated or enamelled.

I'm always a amazed by prices across the board for mere fashion jewellery. Makes sense to buy silver or gold for similar prices.

oh, you've given me a lot of think about. I honestly never contemplated owning both before! I have tried it (a few times now!) and its definitely has wonderful heft to it. I have to say I'm not as crazy about the other permutations of the horsebit bracelet like the diamantissima. I do love the enamel; I've tried it on in the green but its totally not practical for me to wear enamel bracelets in my line of work.

I do have a question for you. I don't remember seeing the big silver horsebit bracelet in seasons past...but maybe I just never paid attention before. Do you know if its new?

It first came out in the 1970s (when there was a silver range but not gold) they've been making it since in different variations and sizes

Hi ladies! I need your help, please!
I have recently received a vintage Gucci bag and thinking to buy a 18K ring to match the style. I really like this one and currently saving for it.

It looks very nice, it is simple and elegant at the same time, and the price for 18K is not bad at all. I wonder if anybody can help me with sizing? I wear 6.5 and the ring is about 4 mm wide. Are Gucci sizes the same as american sizes? And also, I assume that this is solid 18K gold, am I right? I am a bit nervous buying it online without trying but we have no Gucci store near... How is Gucci 18K gold doing over time, does it get scratched easily? I do not have any 18K gold rings, all my rings are in platinum and despite rumors that platinum get scratched very easily , they are doing ok. If somebody already has that ring, model pictures would be deeply appreciated!
Thank you very much!

I don't know if Gucci changes the sizes for the US (like they do with shoes) I wear a (UK) P on my middle finger therefore I order a 16 which is a US 7.5. From the look of the link you posted it looks like they've already done the conversion and you should just choose your reg. US size.

N.B. the wider the the ring the larger you may have to go to accommodate, conversely large cocktail rings need to be tighter otherwise the weight of top will drop to one side.

I8K is the highest percentage you'll find commercially in Europe. It does scratch but it also polishes easily, you wouldn't want to go lower than 18K for investment. Only the Middle-East and Asia (especially India) do they make jewellery from higher 20, 22 and 24K as it really gets too soft to wear everyday, such pieces are usually reserved for gifts (esp. bridal) only to be worn on special occasions. I have quite a few gucci gold pieces and I find them not only exceptionally made but compared with high-end jewellers like VCA and Cartier etc they are practically bargains.

Just thinking aloud but if you only have and wear platinum, wouldn't you prefer WG?

BTW Plat. is harder than gold but corrodes in contact with chlorine and sulphur. Therefore never wear you plat swimming in either artificial or natural spa pools.

Dear Papertiger, thank you very much for your input!
It does seem that the sizes have been converted since this is US site and no need to worry about that. My only question now is if the gold is solid itself. If I could have the ring in my hand I would be able to say. The reason I am asking is when I do the search on this site it shows a selection as ring/empty... I am confused.

Two years ago we went to Florence , Italy and I could not resist to shop at Ponte Vecchio and was deeply disappointed. Along with super expensive watches, they sell mostly foil-thin and blown gold there, it is very light and it looks cheap, it is what I would describe as empty. I do not think though that this Gucci ring is the same quality. I hope not.
I really need a yellow gold ring because of brass hardware on that Gucci 1970 purse we discussed with you in a vintage Gucci topic. I am not big on rings but I would like to go stylish this time. And classic Gucci ring like this is timeless. I also inhereted a vintage Omega 18k watch from my father in law this year. Along with Gucci purse and this watch I have to go yellow gold and classic design I think. (I am not too good at creating looks but it shouts for the yellow gold ring )
I totally agree-pure 999.9 gold must be soft remembering how in good old times people were biting the gold coin to see if it gets a teeth mark if it is real gold.
Thank you for your warning about platinum, I didn't know that. I mostly avoid taking it to any swimming being scared to loose the stone or to accidentally develop a severe scratch . I do baby my rings, it is my only ring set. I am a minimalist but I like good quality.

Florence is renowned for their traditional fine jewellery as well as their leather wear but, yes the Ponte Vecchio is now too touristy, you have to go off the beaten track to find the 'real' stuff and since gold has gone up, no bargains. I have to add though, the fine gold filigree and gold-wire work are Florentine tradition, not cheap at all, light does not always equate with cheap. It's only recently people buy jewellery by the ounce and not by the weeks of labour and handwork.

I I think you mean solid v hollow. All my pieces from Gucci so far are solid 18K, not hollow, and I think the Icon range is as well. I don't know if you're buying this on-line but if you were to go into a store you could certainly tell by the weight.

Thank you again! Hollow-that is the word. I looked up the list of Gucci stores in US and I don't live or travel anywhere near them so it has to be online. Oh well... I will ask them this question before I buy, still need to wait to gather enough money. I am pretty positive it is solid gold.
Still wonder what do the solomon brothers mean by the word empty....
