Hi there! I'm thinking of purchasing the horsebit ring that Pomba has on in Smoky Quartz. I was able to find one in my local store, shockingly in my size. It's such an expensive piece but Gucci jewelry is so worth it and this item is very limited which is why I am strongly considering it. Has anyone seen the smoky quartz? Any opinions would be appreciated.

I say go for it, so worth it. I get the most compliments on it and wear it every day!

I have not purchased it yet but they were nice enough to let me take photo of it on my finger while I decide. They only have size 5.5 and I am a 5.25 but it could possible be sized and because the band is so thick, it kind of works. What do you think? Thanks.

They don't size here at my store, nor will they send it out. I have to have my jeweler do the sizing and I'm not sure the hallmarks will be preserved. It's just such an expensive piece since gold prices have gone up which is why it is taking me forever to make the decision. It's pretty though. Thank you for all of your help. I do love it. .

I think the sizing is the biggest issue. A cocktail ring can be so annoying when it's too big but you can buy metal resize-inserts that can't be seen from the outside without even going for the 'knife' (and I totally understand why that is such a worry if Gucci won't do it themselves).

Everything else looks perfect and I like the smokey quartz version best of all the transparent stones. I only wished I hadn't missed the opaque versions from a few years ago (onyx, malachite, tiger's eye :tender:)

As for value. Maybe a small jeweller works out stone value + gold weight + labour charges = $X but as we all know when it comes to the sale room the name on the piece is a big factor and Gucci gold is one area that tends to hold it's value. When it comes to big jewellery houses too like VCA, the fact that they use MoP, turquoise or other semi-precious stones isn't a huge issue.

Here is a pic I took along with my prasolite ring. Too bad the stone on the earrings are not prasolite too. Do you think its a big deal??? gucci doesnt make these earrings in prasolite.

Hee hee Thank you Papertiger. Now I am considering a necklace also (since its after xmas sales) and debating if smokey quartz would be a better choice over prasolite as it would be closer to my face/earrings. Plus dh might be happier if I get a matching smokey quartz necklace to go with his earrings he got me.

No unfortunately not on sale.

I meant finding a nice peice of 18k gold in another designer whom may have a sale on now. Gucci does not have a sale nor a necklace that is a complete match. I dont want to be too matchy matchy anyway.
