Im so glad you posted this up! I know that I should keep a count of how many unreceipted returns i do too now!

P.S. - If you ever need to do a return again without a receipt, just ask a friend or your bf to do it for you so they "pin" the record on that person. If it's just once, it shouldn't affect them in any way. Just make sure they're not a frequent shopper of coach.
 
I wonder, can you still get penalized if you make an exchange without the receipt, even if they can see in the system where you made your original purchase?

I know one time I made an exchange without the receipt b/c I really didn't think you had to have it. I didn't lose it, it was just at home, and I didn't want to drive home to get it!
 
You really don't need your receipt at Dillard's or Macy's...they put a coded stamp on the ticket and when it's scanned everything comes up. I take my receipt with me but the SA always says they don't need it.


but you have to have that sticker at macy*s! no sticker..... no return! (at least that's what i was told.... and yes... my item had the sticker!)

As long as it's rare, I don't think they penalize you. It happened to me one time. I just misplaced it and couldn't locate it, because it was one item on one ticket. They were fine. Just looked it up. And I used it as store credit...I told them I wanted it this way cause I knew I'd be getting something else before too long!:p
 
I would for sure rather get a letter in the mail than have the this info given to me while trying to make another return. I have been behind people when this has happened and it is really uncomfortable for everyone present. If the stock is not still in the store then they do lose money because they have to sell it at discounted prices or it gets sent to the outlets. I have bought merchandise from outlets that was returned at the full price stores. This could all be avoided if they only took returns on things currently for sale and not stuff from six months ago. Most places have a no more a 90 day return policy on things so they dont end up getting shorts back from summer in Dec. Anyway a letter is better than public humiliation.
 
It's not like they banned you -- they just asked you to do any future returns with a receipt. If you enjoy using the product don't call in and make a fool of yourself--give it a couple days--and if you decide you still want to shop at Coach just keep your receipts. Even on a gift can't you get a gift receipt?

Dillard's won't take a retrun without a receipt or gift receipt. I don't think LV will either (in my city they don't.) Plus there are MANY others.

I never said I was banned and nobody is making a fool of themselves. I was asked to call.

First off, I want to make sure people know that I understand why the letter was sent to me. I have read one to many posts in which people assume I don't know why or that I have brought this upon myself because of the number of exchanges I made. I had no way of knowing this would happen and neither did many of you. I don't feel guilty about anything and I haven't defrauded or stolen from anyone, I was simply given gifts without receipts. Big deal.

And no, I am not in the habit of losing receipts. I have a drawer filled with receipts from Macys, Nordstroms, Bloomies, Metropark, VS and Coach. As a matter of fact, I found 2 of the lost receipts yesterday in a nook at the very back of this drawer :faint: I will be giving this info to LP

I am not hurt nor am I embarrassed about receiving this letter (otherwise I would not have posted at all), I'm just honestly surprised and ticked.

It is not a big deal to me. I am just turned off by this and I will cease purchasing Coach. More for y'all! :nuts: At the moment I am just saving up for my trip to Peru and my LV. It's all good.

I did call this morning and an operator, with a little bit more attitude than I like them to have, answered:

Operator: "Hello, Coach." ( I paused because I thought she was going to say more than that)
Me: "Hi, I am..." (then I was interrupted)
Operator:"What?"
Me: "I'm calling for Cynthia"
Operator:"Hold"

The phone rang a couple of times and then I was directed to her VM. I was asked to press # if I was calling in regards to a letter or a check. I didn't hear a beep or anything, so I just left my name and number and asked to be called at a certain time otherwise I would not be able to talk (I had school all afternoon and work and school and work again tomorrow, back to back). I haven't been called back yet.

So, no update.

I think people were just confused about why you were "ticked" about something like that. We're just all different. We all understand why Coach does what they did, so a lot of us wouldn't stop shopping there because we love their products. I hope that doesn't come off as being offensive, its just that we all react to situations differently. Its not up to any of us what you do and if you will be happier moving on to another brand, MORE POWER TO YOU! :tup:

I'm sure many of us are just sad to see you leave :sad: even if you'll be sticking around the forum, its definitely not the same when you don't share the hobby anymore.
 
well I dont blame you for wanting to leave, but you still have to check in on your coachies. and I have always wanted to go to Peru, it looks beautiful in pictures. You will have to post some if/when you go!
 
I think it's easy to understand why people thought you were hurt -- your first post says that you felt insulted. Anyway, as long as you're fine, that's great!
 
I do think the letter was worded harshly and would not be pleasant to receive. But in Coach's defense, if they had checked your purchase history, some of the items you ret'd would not be in that history (since they were gifts) with or without a receipt. I'm sure that's probably a factor in why your account was flagged. I do hope you are able to get some resolution when you talk to someone from LP. Sorry this happened and that you will be leaving Coach. And I hope you enjoy your first LV purchase! :smile1:

P.S. Do keep all your receipts in Peru for getting items through Customs. My sister and her DH were there 2 years ago and loved it, but their experience with Peruvian Customs was the worst they've had in all their years of traveling.

Your most recent post seems like you are confused about why so many people left explanations. I don't think anyone misunderstood your OP. There was a good deal of shock and offense in this thread from all sides, and I think people were stepping up to explain why, even if it's less than ideal, the situation was really neither shocking nor offensive.

People on this thread aren't confused about your situation or understanding, they are responding to reactions that seem misplaced. :yes:
