Wanting to add a Garden Pary 36 to my bag collection and am torn between gold and etoupe. I wear almost all neutrals and can't decide which is a better option for my wardrobe!!! I found a brand new etoupe 36 garden for retail, but worry it will be too cool toned?? Any input would be greatly appreciated as I live too far from the store to go and see them in person!

I also wear neutrals almost exclusively: black, navy, cream and white. I have a B30 in Gold that I find works with almost every outfit, particularly if I use a silk/CSGM to tie everything together. However, I don't think I've ever seen étoupe in real life so can't speak to it's versatility or cool tones.

I don’t think you can go wrong with an etoupe or gold. I too, have a very neutral wardrobe and I notice I reach for my Etoupe more than gold. Out of your seven photos, I think five of your outfits look really well with Etoupe. Not that I’m biased but if I were only to have one between the two, I’d choose etoupe as it is gray with brown undertones which makes it work with a lot of outfits whereas gold is strictly brown. Good luck!

I prefer Gold to Etoupe, mainly because Etoupe can look muddy and I feel Gold is more versatile (which is probably why I have so many bags in this color!). I like the freshness of Gold. My Gold GP works pretty much everywhere and is my favorite work bag. I don't think of it as brown per se, I think of it as a camel color and it works as a neutral in the same way, with a very slightly preppy/sporty edge. It's ideal IMO with navy, stripes, cream; works with all black but I prefer a black or very dark bag, without contrast stitching, with black outfits (I don't like Etoupe with black either, but many do).

I have both Gold and Etoupe. My first H bag was a gold B35, and I thought Etoupe was mud. After awhile I lusted after a more neutral neutral (I will be a dissenter and say that I don't see Etoupe as cool, I see it as neutral). Once I got my B30 in Etoupe I found it to be much more versatile than I thought. Based on your outfits you could go with either, neither would be a bad choice. I still love gold but find Etoupe just a teeny bit more versatile.

I just love H gold leathers, they’re beautiful and classic. I have gold and étoupe bags and for my wardrobe I prefer étoupe or noir almost always. For me I have to work out my clothing to carry a gold bag and feel right. If you don’t have a strong preference maybe either will suit you.

I have both and I wear a similar RTW color palette. Gold is more of a pop neutral. Etoupe is more of a brown beige taupe. It can be muddy, so before you accept, examine the specific bag. But, I swear sometimes the muddy issue is in my own mind. I always think my etoupe victoria is true taupe and my 30B etoupe is muddy, but when I put them side by side, they look the same. :facepalm:I also think there are decades when gold is more popular; some when etoupe is in favor.

I don’t own the last bag; it’s called the arcon and not yet available for purchase

ETA: i am 55, and i observe that those in my age group tend towards phw (i do so bc my mother wore ghw). I once rehomed a barenia fauve 32 HAC bc the gold hardware made me feel like a ralph Lauren ad. But it seems like those younger than me have recently embraced gold hw, even with gold leather. Maybe this is a question of which you will get first. FWIW, IMO a gold 36 GP will look a bit larger than the same size bag in etoupe.

Both colors read pretty casual to me (yet another person who has & love both), esp. given the fact that it's a GP and likely in Negoda leather. Looking at your photos I think both colors will work for you, but Gold will "pop" more, in the sense that it will stand out a bit more against your outfits but it's still absolutely a neutral. It's gonna be a personal preference and no wrong choice really IMO. Good luck deciding
