amka, i hope you get to enjoy your beautiful beautiful bag
i can not put it any simpler, the first step you can take is to stop looking at your HW. whatever you do, when we wear bags with HW they will get scratches. whatever the reasons. no need to wonder what those reasons are. because when you do, you will enter a hole that the members have been discussing here for weeks

I am so sorry that you have a defective lock and your experience of getting a replacement was not a pleasant one. It looks like Hermes quality really isn't as good as it used to be....
I got a birkin sometime ago that had a defective turn lock. I didn't notice it when I purchased it because the defect was hidden underneath the plastic protector film. Back then Hermes was still good and courteous. I brought it in and they took back the bag immediately, and placed another order for me. I got the new replacement in less than a month. It was such a great experience that it made me a loyal customer. It is sad that the same standard does not continue on nowadays....
I am trying to enjoy my Kelly for now, but it does bother me every single time I use my Kelly. I can feel the studs sticking out. And because it is scratching the plates, I have to make sure that I close the straps properly all the time so it will only scratch on the plates that are already scratched, which is a lot of extra effort. On the other hand, I do worry that if I bring it in for spa service, that they will replace the metal hardware but the repair will still have the studs sticking out, or even worse, mess up some other part of the bag. If this happens then I would be really really sad....
Hi Ladies, I was wondering if I could ask for your expert advice on a Kelly decision I am trying to make.
I am looking at purchasing a Kelly on the resale market, I am trying to find a Kelly 32 in gold. I could not find it in 32 but did find one in excellent condition in a 35. It is Kelly 35 Gold with PHW, Togo leather! The concern is I really wanted a 32 but I am being a bit impatient... and the price is actually really good.
Now, the problem is I found the size I want a K32, but in orange, and it is clemence.
Now the question is, would you ladies chose the size of your dreams, or the colour of your dreams? I do like the orange but must admit the gold is all year round and really beautiful. Just wondering if the size will be too much and too heavy? I do think Clemence is heavier so with it being Togo, I am sure the 35 would be ok.
I would really appreciate your thoughts!! xx
Don't settle., I had a k35 black togo it was to big and overwhelming of a bag for me. So I sold it and purchased a k28 in black Clemence leather and it's perfect so happy I didn't settle on a 32 that had considered buying cause just 3 weeks later I got the k28. I also only wanted black and had started looking at different colors just because I was growing inpatient so if you want gold wait for gold. But as for Togo and Clemence the weight is not dramatic between the two I have a b30 in Togo and a k28 in Clemence both are gorgeous leathers I think the only time where it really matters is larger bags 35,40 and even then togo can be heavy. Good luck on your hunt.

Please don't hate me for saying this, but if your heart is set on a 32 in Gold, hold out for a 32 in Gold. Hermes works in strange ways and I truly beileve you will find the bag you want if you can wait.
Now, if you really CAN'T wait (and I am familiar with that feeling too!) then I would go for gold over orange. This is totally personal preference on my part, as I believe Gold and Etoupe are both brilliant, classic, year-round neutrals. Orange is a neutral to some people but not to others. It is much more noticeable than Gold, so you have to have the personality to be comfortable with that. It's personal choice, but if this is your only Kelly, I'd take gold over orange 100% of the time.
As far as 35 vs. 32, I have both and use the 35s more. This is partly because my 32 is Rouge Vif Box and is hard for me to carry off as an everyday bag, and one of my 35s is Barenia and fits my casual lifestyle -- but I've also found the 35 to be a great size for everyday (for cocktail parties, not so much as it is too bulky!). If you are petite or carry very little, it may be more important to have a smaller bag. Also, are both bags retourne? I like a 35 retourne but I think in Sellier a 35 would feel too big. HTH!
Hi Catsinthebag, thanks for your detailed reply. Oh the confusion and the gut wrenching decisions H puts us through, lol! It's interesting to see you use the 35's more than the 32. I am 5.6" but I never let my height determine the bag size I choose. I tend to err on the side of bigger bags as I can use it daytime and running errands on the weekends. It is not a purchase for evening, and I find gold is not an evening colour anyways (at least not for me). Oh, yes I should mention it is Retourne and completely agree that a Sellier would be much better in a smaller size. I think I will take a day or so and think about it. If it's meant to be it will still be there. The price is great, it is 2015 and the price is not overinflated like a lot of bags are. It is also local (I live in Canada) so I don't have to deal with duty fees. So it is very tempting indeed! I appreciate your input on 32 vs. 35!!
You raise a good point about orange. I am not one that will collect bags. I want to carefully curate my bag collection that it is simple yet useful. I think gold makes much more sense now.
Thank you for your input!!
Glad this was helpful! I am the same height as you and don't think the 35 looks too big. I also wanted to add that because of the small bag craze, K35s seem to be priced a little lower lately. So you may not be able to find a K32 in the same condition for the same price.

Oh that makes so much sense because this K35 is priced reasonably well, and is just two years old and in very good condition. It makes sense now. I am going to strongly consider this. My dream is to have one Retourne and one Sellier. It makes sense to get the 35 in Retourne and the Sellier in 28 or 32
Sorry, just one more question, does the weight of the 35 bother you? Thx!!
The 35 I use the most is Barenia, which is not exactly known for being lightweight! But since I usually carry it by the shoulder strap, it doesn't really bother me. It can get heavy if I really load it up -- like with all larger bags, the danger is not that they're heavier empty but more that we have the tendency to load them up. I guess I'd say the weight doesn't bother me but I also don't use it every single day. The weight of my Garden Party bothers me more, but that's because I load it up and it's not as comfortable on the shoulder.
