Thank you @odette57 for your reply. I really appreciate that you checked the studs on your bag for me.
My bag is 2 months young. Sadly, when I brought it to the store yesterday, they told me that it is normal for the studs to stick out, especially on a Kelly bag (This is my one and only Kelly, so I don't have another one to compare it to). As for the discoloration of the hardware clasps, they said that it is normal and it would be less visible on gold hardware. They did mention that if I want to have the plates and studs on the straps replaced that they will do it, but it will cost me, and they can not guarantee that the studs will not stick out again.
I am very disappointed with their response. The quality control for their bags must have been gone down hill if discoloration of the clasps and scratching caused by protruding studs are considered normal by Hermes standards nowadays.

I have also protruding studs that scratch my HW. I did'nt think it was not normal until i saw your post.... a little worried now ;)
Plus i had a defective lock that i noticed when i removed the protections. Hermes changed it free of charge after "negociation".
It was my first H bag and was disappointed by the quality control and by the fact that i had almost to beg to have my lock changed on a new Kelly

Now i just enjoy my bag :):)

I am so sorry that you have a defective lock and your experience of getting a replacement was not a pleasant one. It looks like Hermes quality really isn't as good as it used to be....

I got a birkin sometime ago that had a defective turn lock. I didn't notice it when I purchased it because the defect was hidden underneath the plastic protector film. Back then Hermes was still good and courteous. I brought it in and they took back the bag immediately, and placed another order for me. I got the new replacement in less than a month. It was such a great experience that it made me a loyal customer. It is sad that the same standard does not continue on nowadays....

I am trying to enjoy my Kelly for now, but it does bother me every single time I use my Kelly. I can feel the studs sticking out. And because it is scratching the plates, I have to make sure that I close the straps properly all the time so it will only scratch on the plates that are already scratched, which is a lot of extra effort. On the other hand, I do worry that if I bring it in for spa service, that they will replace the metal hardware but the repair will still have the studs sticking out, or even worse, mess up some other part of the bag. If this happens then I would be really really sad....
