Global Hermes Profile

I have been told that I have multiple "profiles," each with a different home or work address. I have asked that they be merged, but the SAs can't do it. They claim to have asked corporate to do it, but nothing has happened over several years. If they can't manage that simple task (or avoid creating multiple profiles simply because items were shipped to different addresses), how are they going to accurately track purchases worldwide? Especially since no passport number is linked.
I'm with you on that. i "only" have 2, but I was also told the same thing: Corporate needs to merge it and the store will send a request. It's been 4 years and it hasn't happened yet.

More of the mysteries of H...I was told the same thing about multiple listings for tons of US customers about 5 or 6 years ago. I had 5 as I recall. Supposedly they started then and started in the US by going through and cleaning up the dbase so that each customer had only one listing. Then they moved on to connecting internationally.

I assumed from recent posts that they were close to tying everything in...but who knows with H?!? Le sigh...

The SA said I have multiple profiles as recently as two weeks ago.

Have you moved over the years? That’s how my 2 profiles were created. Also another thing (sorry off topic) that kinda frustrates me is the fact that they seemingly can’t keep more than one mailing addresses. I have my home address for the H profile, but in the last couple of years I’ve been traveling for work so haven’t been able to pick up stuff from the store. So I have asked them to send the items to work (because nobody is at home during the week), and somehow they replaced my home address with work. Would be funny if that ends up being a third profile!

I used to have two homes. And my office address changed. I think I have a profile for every address.

I am in the same boat. I was told that I have two profiles, because one of the SA made a mistake and thought I was a new customer to the store so he created a new profile for me. My regular SA tried to email corporate to merge the two profiles together, however after that, I now have THREE profiles due to corporate’s mistake while trying to merge the other two. I was told if I really want to have all my purchases put under the same profile, I need to memorize the profile number of the one I want to use and tell the SA every time I make a purchase. They also told me that if I purchase online, the online system may sometimes automatically create another profile for me as well.

I think due to how disorganized and inefficient their system is, it is probably unlikely that they can track a customers purchases globally.

I'm pretty sure that they can't. My home store before I moved to Berlin was a franchise store. Berlin was only able to see my H.com purchases. Paris probably didn't even see my previous French purchases as I cannot remember giving them any kind of ID (not eligible for VAT return). NY, Taipeh and London will most likely know nothing of each other either. Never had to show ID.

I must say I never cared much about having a profile. I buy if I see something I love anywhere in the world and I was lucky enough to get my Bs and K with little or no previous purchases.

Made a purchase a few days ago in Strasbourg, France. The SA handed me her Hermès company iPhone, I typed in my last and first names, and my profile came up. I had made previous boutique purchases at other locations while traveling in France over the past few years.

Today, in Amsterdam, same process with the SA but my profile did not come up. Perhaps the boutique client database is country-specific.

Weird question but did you need to type in both your first and last names before any results were shown? I'm trying to figure out if my husband's profile will be seen when going for my profile (same last name).

In Strasbourg, I put in my last name and my nickname (the first name that I go by on a daily basis, that appears on my credit cards, and that I use for my US Hermès account) but nothing came up. I then tried my last name and my legal first name as they appear on my passport and that worked.

In Amsterdam, neither method above worked. I then tried searching by only my last name and I was able to see the names (not purchase history, etc.) of other clients with the same last name as mine.

So ... you should be able to find both your account and your husband’s account by searching with last name only, if you have made a purchase in that country before. The account you are able to select may depend on the passport you are using for the VAT refund.

So the reason for this is because when they use their iPhone tool, it pulls up the "local database" of clients, which are clients that have local profiles within that particular selling zone. If you're shopping in London, they'll see your U.K. purchases, etc. Now, if your sales person had more time on their hands, they could go to desktop workstation where Hermes uses Cegid, and they could search for your name across all sales-zones -- essentially globally. For example: A friend of mine purchased a bag in Europe and it was one of those awful stinky ones that smelled like marijuana! She didn't have her receipt anymore, but the NY store needed a copy of the receipt. The manager in the back went into the system and used the drop-down menu to select a global search, typed in her name, and voila -- the international profile that contained the purchase was found, accessed and a receipt was generated. I really don't like this practice, I must say. Louis Vuitton now uses your email address and/or telephone number to merge all of your global accounts. When I'm in France, they can see everything I've purchased in the USA, London, Canada and even Mexico when on holiday! Moreover, the sales people can "follow" your customer profile and learn of when you make new purchases anywhere in the world. It's like big brother -- I don't like it at all!

My SA has been telling me that I can only do 2 bags per year GLOBALLY soon. Ok fine but buying Hermes goods in France/Europe is so much cheaper than the UK (especially the bags so I dread to think that I’m limited to 2) ever! I love shopping in Paris (say for a weekend trip) for special purchases while I buy essentials from my local store. I get offered bags from Paris more often than my local store does when I shop there! I am not sure how I feel about this “universal system”.

Anyone else?

If you particularly wish to shop for bags in Paris rather than the UK (from a price perspective that is not unreasonable and just think of the differential for the poor Americans!) the global 2 bags (B, K, C?) per semester rule won't make any difference to you. You have implied that if you bought two bags in Paris you would rather not buy more in the UK because they would cost more. So what is the problem? At one time if you were lucky, shopping on different continents could increase the number you might get per year - even at only two per year you must soon get to the limit of what you might require.
If you are already being offered bags in Paris you are over that hurdle.
