Giving TIPS to sales in order to get a BIRKIN?

Can we blame the op for our own misbehavior? How nice.

Joking aside, my point was that it is distasteful to suggest at a public forum that bribery was welcomed at H. The comments of the op were apparently not about what "could" happen.

I think that kind of rumor is an insult to H. And that is what I meant; it ruins healthy relationship between tPF and H.

I don't think it is the suggestion in a public forum that is distasteful. It is the bribery itself, if it actually happened, that is distasteful.

As to whether bribery is actually welcome at H, I don't think anyone knows for sure, only the people actually involved in it.

I also don't think that the forum exists only to promote a healthy relationship between itself and Hermes. There are positive things and negative things that are posted here. It is a fun place that is also informative, and I appreciate that aspect of it. But not everything that tpf members experienced or wrote about is or has to be positive. The OP wrote about what her friend told her. We can all read it and decide for ourselves whether or not we want to believe it.

I am not saying that I believe it happened, only that it would not surprise me if it did.

QUOTE=swisshera;20231304]Hahah! I was reading "Bringing home a birkin" that's what the guy said he did. I haven't tried it, probably don't need to :P[/QUOTE]

If this is what he wrote, I can assure you he didn't even went once to Hermes Italy...

How sad, he probably thought it was somthing very pittoresque to write...Did he also write Sas were playing mandolino while he was shopping?

Hi everyone,

I don't know if anybody esle has posted the similiar topic, but I'm so confused since in order to get Birkin, I spend lots of money and time buying those small scarves and leather goods, but my sales still didn't give me any Birkin or Kelly this year.

But this week, one of my friend got two Birkin (both with good colors) and a Lindy, WITH IN ONE WEEK. I asked she HOW, she said she gave tips to the sales person, like $1000 - $2000 for one Birkin.

She bought those stuffs from New York madison store. Do we need to give our sales TIPS in order to get Birkin? or just in New York.

I'm so confused right now, hope somebody could help me with this question,
Thank you.

OP has made it clear in her first post. I dont see anything about right or wrong. It was nothing about to let people know bribery is wrong. And you think the people do bribery didn't know it's wrong? By you stab your friend from the back like this will educate your friend or other people? I would tell my friend in front of her. Not behind her back if i really think something she did wasnt right. I'm sorry, but I don't buy the later version of op's story. From "crying about not being able to get birkin but a friend got two" and out of sudden turn in to such a righteous person after some of us voice our opinion?!? It's ovibous to me.

to be honest, I somehow want somebody to report this to hermes, since it 's so unfair and illegal I think.
Her real intention of this thread is exactly what she said here. She gave out details about her friend and the store hoping someone here will go report it. So her friend can't get many birkin no more. And maybe finally she can get it.
She posted "I want people go report my friend and the Hermes" before she realize there are people here questioning her intention. Her story changed after she realized some people here is questioning her intention.

I just feel that's very sneaky...

Not taking sides or supporting OP's accusations, OR attempting to solve anything.
Her stating so does not negate that this never occurred or in fact ongoing.

This is no difference from someone tipping the bouncer to 'cut the line' @ the hottest events or paying scalpers for a Lady Gaga concert ..

Neither of which I condone or practice .. so the only difference is product and denomination and the only factor unchanging is greed of both parties involved.

In this instance, I do not see how and why H is immune or firewalled to prevent these supposed occurrences.

Yet, I do agree the OP should report this herself .. this is not going anywhere positive nor is this a battle to win collectively by acquiring 'power in numbers' persuasively ..

OP has 'first-hand' experience .. what we are witnessing is 'hear say'
So, OP - you know what your next move is .. shall wait to hear results and updates .. GL!!

In that case you can ask her to refer the SA to you and try? Honestly, I heard too many these kind of stories and I don't believe it until I see it...

I have heard of this from numerous sources--

Bribery is obviously wrong but who is here to re-enforce the law? I doubt if police will step in and arrest these two parties involved. NYPD have bigger crime to solve and go after. Even though I have loved Hermes Kellys and Birkins for over 20 yrs since I was a little girl admiring mother's collection, I could not even start to imagine how I would have to bribe SM/SA to get my shopping done. At the end of the day, it is just a bag and another piece to add to my purse collection. If they do have what I want, that's great. If not, I can still live my life to the fullest without it. It is really not that a big deal. I am having a hard time understanding the recent craze over the B bag. B has always been popular, but today obtaining a birkin is a totally different shopping scenario!!! Perhaps it is the media who drove people believe it is THE status symbol bag to get. Oh well, I honestly love my Ks and Bs equally as I do my Asprey, Valextra and VBHs. It is the entire look (inside and out) which you put together that represents you. Not just one bag to show that you have got the financial power to get birkins. How many times did you see the mis-match of people, their demeanor and their B/K bags?? We need to find a bag that fits ourselves and fits our outfit for the occasion, and that would be the art of dressing.

I don't believe OP's intention is evil. She probably just was very frustrated that her friend got her bags via this pathetic manner. She can't be helped but feeling upset and vented out all the details without realizing the impact of the powerful TPF. Give her some room and I think she learned her lesson on how to vent in a more "public forum appropriate" manner already.

This is quite a comment to make... giving tips to a SA
in order to acquire a handbag.... and this comment has
been made on a public forum for Hermes to read....

In all the years that I have been shopping at Hermes
have never even heard or thought about "tipping" or
"gifting" a SA in order to get a handbag....and $1000-
$2000 that's quite the tip....

Did you place a SO for a birkin or a kelly?

Is it possible that what you wanted hasn't been ordered
by the store or hasn't come in ?

Freedom of speech in a public forum .. and not opposed her having these feelings ..
BUT ..
This is a can of worms that must be addressed!
Ramifications exists to report or not to report .. no going back or remaining quiet.

IF indeed OP stands by her statement .. Yes, it happens!..
By not going forward then she is letting this practice continue and grow ~ very bad and no difference for that book written by whom??
I never read it btw. Same goes for the others who have witnessed this, jmo.

To remain quiet then there is more to this than - No, it didn't happen and I was wrong. Sends the wrong message.

I definitely don't think OP is evil either .. perhaps frustrated and let-down.
