Hclubfan........ Just b/c you're such a sweetheart.... I'll type my response again. Flying used to be so much nicer, you're right, now it's the Greyhound bus crowd! When I started flying in 1967, it was still exciting for people to fly to their destinations, instead of driving. People were nice, and they felt that their flight, was a big part of their trip. Those were the days of people not getting on in flip flops, and rollers in their hair......yes, I've seen that. Since the flight attendants move around so much, they don't have time to think of being trapped on a plane! When I used to fly as a passenger, they knew at check in that I was an airline employee, so we got VIP treatment. We could upgrade to first class for a few dollars more. When I worked as a flight attendant, I always flew with my best friends, so it was really fun. I know what you mean, though, about what flying is now! I haven't been on a plane since 2000!! :true:

*sigh* I miss when flying was like that! People used to get dressed to go somewhere :girlsigh:

^^^ Shelby.....EWWWWWWWWWWWWW! We don't have palmettos in Toronto...too bloody cold up here 6 months of the year, and too far north, I suppose.

Lily...the weather in Hotlanta sounds just dreadful, but I've heard it's soooo pretty there! We have friends who live in Buckhead, and I've always wanted to visit them there.

It's very pretty about two months out of twelve, hclub. Come visit, but just don't do it between mid-May to late September.

I have old friends coming in this Friday, and they're actually expecting me to venture out of the A/C and meet them for dinner. Rather nervy, I'd say. Of course, I'll be scraping them off the pavement after a couple hours in Hellanta.:graucho:

I don't mind flying - I read, or stitch, and pretend I don't understand whatever language my seat mates speak. I also bring my own food.

My 7 year old nephew just flew by himself from Dallas to his "other" aunts in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and his parents and sister will join them in a few weeks after her soccer games are over. He told his dad after he got there that "somewhere over Oklahoma, they upgraded me to first class and fed me enchiladas and cookies." That little stinker......

Oh, boy, I want to do that! The problem is that I have no desire to go to Hong Kong, though. Way, way too many people there.

You can go to the islands around, not as many people, gorgeous. I adored Hong Kong.

Those were the days......:girlsigh:

Oh yes :girlsigh:

LOL! What a cutie

I make it a point to still do that.:p I think it's a matter of respect for the flight crew and the whole flying experience, even if that is nothing but a fond memory at this point. (Being well dressed used to get you bumped into first class too.:graucho: Sadly, those days are long gone.)

I'm just shocked at what people wear on planes, and it seems that we Americans are the biggest culprits in dressing inappropriately at all times - for heaven's sake - even at funerals these days.

And, ugh, I do not want to sit next to a stanger's filthy bare feet in flip flops for a four-hour flight either. If I were a flight attendant, I'd try to run a drink cart over those bare feet and teach them a lesson.

No doubt, I would be fired after one flight.
