Hell, yes, it's worth it! When my sister and I went to Italy in 2007, our parents had come back from Greece the day before we left, so we never got to ask them about their trip. Afterwards I asked my mom, how was business class? She says, I guess it was okay. Did you sleep? Only about 7 hours. Since I had slept for a total of 40 minutes on the way back from Italy because my cheap ass sister wouldn't pay to upgrade, I was quite close to choking my mother to death cause she slept "only" seven hours. I am a miles whore and will never go overseas again in coach.

we are too, the Paris trip was just on miles :D (Tillie, UA business class ;) )

Well, I think you're safe, hclub, as the girls seemed to have moved on to gators!:p

And you don't like to fly??? (Gee, it was hard to tell that!:D) Oh, there's not much I'd rather do. Being on an Air France international flight headed for Paris and eating dinner somewhere out over the Atlantic is my idea of heaven. I even saw the Aurora Borealis once! The lights seemed to be dancing off the wings of the plane - it was magical.

You're right - it is akin to a bus in the air but a bus that gets you there in a fraction of the time. They throw up on buses too - yuck, I've seen it!

Ok, I feel safe saying this amongst my furby buddies (and please take pity on me if you think this sounds waaaaay too princessy!), BUT, after our last flight (seated a la economy), I said to my husband that there's NO WAY IN #@#$ that I'm getting on another plane unless I'm in business or first class...I've officially had enough...I've "earned my wings" as they say!!! We always try to book in business (on points, which we've amassed by the bucket full), but the last few times we've been stuck at the back of the bus, and it's MISERABLE back there! Screaming kids, stinky people eating stinky things, people throwing up, etc. etc....I prefer it on the OTHER SIDE OF THE CURTAIN!

Hclubfan........ Just b/c you're such a sweetheart.... I'll type my response again. Flying used to be so much nicer, you're right, now it's the Greyhound bus crowd! When I started flying in 1967, it was still exciting for people to fly to their destinations, instead of driving. People were nice, and they felt that their flight, was a big part of their trip. Those were the days of people not getting on in flip flops, and rollers in their hair......yes, I've seen that. Since the flight attendants move around so much, they don't have time to think of being trapped on a plane! When I used to fly as a passenger, they knew at check in that I was an airline employee, so we got VIP treatment. We could upgrade to first class for a few dollars more. When I worked as a flight attendant, I always flew with my best friends, so it was really fun. I know what you mean, though, about what flying is now! I haven't been on a plane since 2000!! :true:

Tillie...thanks for posting that again! I completely agree with you about how air travel has changed. People dress in the most abysmal outfits so they're "comfortable", but really...shorts and flip flops on an overseas flight is not what you want to be staring at all night! If I could fly in business all the time, I'd feel a bit differently, but there's a little bit of fear mixed in with my dislike for flying, and unfortunately that follows me into business class!!;)

It's very pretty about two months out of twelve, hclub. Come visit, but just don't do it between mid-May to late September.

I have old friends coming in this Friday, and they're actually expecting me to venture out of the A/C and meet them for dinner. Rather nervy, I'd say. Of course, I'll be scraping them off the pavement after a couple hours in Hellanta.:graucho:

How naive of your friends, Lily! They might change their minds about going out once they're there. :sweatdrop::sweatdrop::sweatdrop:

Thata girl shelby!!! I would have strangled her too! And "only" seven hours...I don't think I've slept 7 hours since my kids were born!!!

Hclubfan - also in terms of safety, they shouldn't be wearing shorts and flip flops! Although I have been at the airport in winter, and waiting at the gate, see the passengers disembark from another plane wearing beach gear...and it's snowing outside!

Hclubfan...... That's what I told DH.......if I'm ever to get on another plane......especially to Europe, either I go First Class, or I'm not going! Period! There.....I said it, now you all know what a brat I am!! :graucho:

Nothing bratty about it Tillie! You stick to it and he'll believe you. (Fingers crossed!)

Oh then tell him some of the things the flight crews do to nasty passengers in economy...and threaten that you'll become one of them if you don't get to sit up near the front! (Not that you are a nasty passenger, just that you know how passengers may be treated and you fear for him too...)

Whatever works?

Love the stories you posted MiaT!!! And it's so true...I just laugh at those pathetic souls who disembark in Toronto in December wearing flip flops when it's -23 outside!!! They're the same people wearing the Hawaiian shirts and straw hats.:tdown::tdown:
