Love the stories you posted MiaT!!! And it's so true...I just laugh at those pathetic souls who disembark in Toronto in December wearing flip flops when it's -23 outside!!! They're the same people wearing the Hawaiian shirts and straw hats.:tdown::tdown:

I would always feel so sorry for them, maybe their original flight was diverted or something like that. Still, even in a heat wave - those airplanes can be cold. I always carry a shawl, and have my legs and arms covered - such as wearing slacks rather than a skirt, and a cardigan.

I always try to look nice when I fly, alas it's never gotten me an upgrade! :shrugs:

Oh I usually pack my own food, or at least enough snacks just in case too!

Waves & Hugs, Gals!

Thank you again for all the sweet Happy Birthday wishes! You are the BESTEST! Had a fab dinner on the bday but got home way too late to get on line and then last night had another late out night continuing the bday celebration! On top of party central, work is extra busy so haven’t been able to check in during the day AND it was so crazy on Monday that a hardly had time to make it to H!!!!!!!! BUT, I did. Had I not, I would have been one pissed off camper! More on H visit later! Way too much to catch up on here so I’m just jumping in!

hclub – hi! Happy to hear that you are feeling better enough to put away some choc gummies!!!

Pauillac – your shots at H are fab! Lots of wow going on there! The truffles look DIVINE!!!! Is the recipe easy to negotiate?

Pugs – love that you did stat analysis for an airline! How fun and talk about POWER! Sorry about the worm incident! I totally can commiserate as I just had my own fun little wormcapade.

LGA – Happy the è instruction for the MAC worked! To get the è on a PC, just hold down the alt key and then on the number pad punch in 138 è – see?

Lily, Shelby, Pugs – add me to the LOVE to fly club! ITA that “how you get there” is an integral part of how my vacation plays out! I try to wear comfortable yet stylish things and of course that includes chic valises etc. Yes, I wear covered shoes – no flip flops for me but I hardly ever wear flip flops but for peddies and at the beach.

Shelby – I too am a miles whore. Can’t get enough of them! Can’t recall the last time I did not fly first class. Heaven is the Lufthansa cavier cart!

MiaT – thanks for the article! If the plane was going down, I’d at least be happy that I had a bottle of wine and some decent food in me plus some movies on demand.

Tillie – I want to hear more about “Flight Attendants Gone Wild”!!!!!!!!!!! Pls, more behind the scenes data!!!!!!

Vicky B! Welcome back! :yahoo:

Looking forward to what goodies you found in orange boxes! (Oh, did I mention - I live vicariously!)

Yes, please Tilllie - another request from me too - details! Stories!

Speaking of plane "safety" and stories, a friend of the family years ago worked at a major airport in college - cleaning out the back of the seat pockets and such. He advised - never ever put your hand in there! He said that the guys would wear gloves and even then - you would be grossed out by what they found. Also, not every pocket is checked now before the next load of passengers is boarded.

You are very very sweet MiaT! Of course, I just think those people are being complete idiots, as clearly they're returning home to Toronto in the dead of winter, but want to let the rest of us suckers know they've been to the Caribbean while we've been freezing to death....they deserve to have their toes freeze in those flip flops!!

You and I would be great traveling partners MiaT, and Lily too, because I always dress up too! And I bring my own food, because God knows I'm not eating what they serve!:nuts::nuts:

Ahh you are so sweet! Thank you!

I am a discerning eater, as in I only like the best quality... or at least "quality" in general. It's just safer to bring food and snacks. Besides, I like to eat and usually cannot wait for the cart to come around on it's own time schedule! Even when I have a choice from their menu, I probably want to mix and match and I don't think they allow that...at least not at the back of the bus!

When I've flown to Asia, I still try to look nice, even when I'll be in the air or en route for 24 hours. No joggers clothing for me. I like to walk off the plane and feel that I am above the riff raff, by looking my best...or trying too. I know, kinda snobby of me. But I don't want to look like a tourist, even if I am one!

(Although you should have seen me standing in line at customs after that 24 hour flight...it was a challenge to stand up straight!)
