Honestly, I know this isn't what you were hoping for, but it's lovely. It looks so good with your scarf! I would be disappointed as well if I was really hoping for matte leather and instead I got the antithesis of it.

Thank you saban. It’s gorgeous, but part of the fun for me with nice bags is the feel of the leather too. However, it is so stunning from a distance. And the black leather smells so good and feels so nice. The shape and size are perfect for what I wanted. I know I can get a mono WT with black leather and red interior, but I love the architectural print - going back and forth now. LV LV LV. Why must they do these things to us :P - like anyone forced me to buy - definitely not a major problem amd I can return worst case. Thanks everyone. I’m in the shallow obsessing stage. Oh and thanks for the scarf compliment - this scarf is gorgeous alone but LV and black and monogram really go well with it. :hugs:

Major disappointment on the Alma bb. This is the real deal shiny cheap feeling patent leather. I’m torn as this little bag is beautiful to look at, but the hand is awful except for the gorgeous matte black calfskin on the bottom of the bag which was described as the same leather on the white body. And if the white leather had been the same this would have been a total stunner in every way. I’m am truly disgusted that LV constantly makes mistakes, mis-describes items, etc etc. never would have ordered had it been described as patent. At least when I order vernis I have chosen that finish, and love my two vernis pieces - this feels like a bait and switch. I’m attaching a few pics for those of you that can’t see irl. The first pic looks like matte calfskin, but the other two show its shiny slick finish.

For such a little bag it holds a lot, and I love the mono straps, handles and inside mono cloth, the lock keys and clochette. The worst part is trying to figure out if the print and the rest is worth the cheap patent body with the awful hand. As most here know, leather like patent, epi, epsom, saffiano are lower grade leathers that get stretched coated or imprinted to hide imperfections. And this body just feels cheap and looks cheap in bright light. And I hate returning things to my lovely SA - I know they can turn around and sell to someone that would love the bag, but yikes.

Oh well, grousing session done. I know some here love patent, and I buy a patent bag about once every 5 years but this wasn’t supposed to be patent! Not for almost $3k. Good luck everyone, hope you are happy with what you receive. It’s too expensive otherwise. Now I have a decision to make. Hope everyone gets what they wanted though.

PS I’m usually not so grumpy, so pardon the griping, but if anyone would get the disappointment of something you totally didn’t expect when you are so excited to receive a new bag, it would be the lovely people here on tpf!

I see your point. But I'm a big fan of patent, so it's LVoely to me !!! I suppose in order to do such a complex print, the design had to go on a very smooth surface. It reminds me of the white pochette accessoires a few seasons back with the cell phone, nail polish, vintage car, lipstick on it (can't remember the name of the collection). It was vernis-ish .... Anyway, you have a hard decision to make. It would definitely have been more interesting if they did mixed materials, monogram for the window bits that are mono, grey epi for the doors, but it really wouldn't be a true Fornasetti.

I like patent too, but only in smaller less expensive bags. The tag on the inside is white matte calfskin with black lettering and it’s gorgeous and would have loved the bag in that leather zero hesitation - and from what some say that is more what the noe and OTG are like. Wouldn’t have bothered me a bit if LV had not put “matte calfskin to mimic stone” in the website description of the Alma and instead had labeled it properly ”patent leather”. Then I would not have purchased and could have just admired everyone’s from afar! I’m still waffling because it truly is a gorgeous looking bag, just not liking the plastic feel. I know we each have our own unique preferences, now if LV would just do each bag to suit exactly each one of us :P Oh well, small problem in the grand scheme of things. I’ll figure it out and quit dithering soon. Thanks to everyone that has responded and been supportive. You are very kind:flowers:

Sounds like the ol' bait and switch. Perhaps it was in the original design but no one bothered to update the description. I only managed to get one Fornasetti piece and it doesn't even scream, "FORNASETTI"!! Still hoping to see a Tête bag in this thread from an eclectic collector !

Indeed - I would like to see all the pieces too! Looking at Fornasetti furniture and goods on their website was a great deal of fun, they have some beautiful things. And given my one chance to have a bag from this collection makes it hard to return. Maybe it’s just a case of “suck it up buttercup” for me :P Fingers crossed you will see your bag here soon! IRL pics from members are usually so much nmore fun to see than website photos!!

I totally hear you girl. I did not buy the Alma for precisely the same reason. And they have misprinted the description which is very unprofessional of LV. There are other more beautiful pieces in this collection IMO such as Noe or petite sac plat..I like my OTG very much.

I agree …I like patent but in small doses and depends on how it feels. My Valentino spike patent is soft and shiny and leathery at the same time. My most complimented bag. The only other patent bag I have in Mini Anyigona in beige with gunmetal hardware but the patent look is like dark liquid gold. I struggle to like LV patent …just does not do it for me. And it is a shame on Alma.

I didn't mind the feel of the patent on this line of bags. LV has made huge improvements over time. Its not like the old vernis Alma or Brea bags. My GF bought a Mirroir Alma 2 years ago and it is one tough cookie of a bag. So even though I do have some trepidation about patent leather - or maybe it is also because of its colour (white) - I jumped right in anyway.

Awww too bad you didn't love it. I never ever buy patent. This was my first, but I actually really like it. The shine gives it a more sophisticated look with this design. Others have mentioned that without the shine it looks more like a drawing.
