The lining is a cheaper kind of polyester fabric, which is the only thing that I wish Ferry could’ve done differently (use better fabric lining). But I think I may have developed an unattainable expectation for a small one-man operation. I have almost 40 bags and most of them are premier, so I guess I’m used to suede and lambskin lining. I also have a number of Massaccesi bags, small brand bases in Italy whose designs are more conservative compared to Ferry’s avant garde style, and they use thick fabric lining (costs about 30% more than frrry). Just something to keep in mind for if you’re used to finer lining

But Ferry is happy to do modifications if anyone wants a small change here and there, and can probably remove the lining (but then you won’t be able to get the inside leather pockets). @Fancyfree what do you think about the lining of your frrry weekender?
The lining in my two Collapse 4-Weekenders is thick, strong and smooth. Similar thickness to Massaccesi lining, but feels more polyester'ish. It is perfect for these big bags.

My impression is that my Collapse 4-Weekenders were made a while back (maybe a couple of few years?) and have been hanging around on Ferry's website "waiting" for me :coolio:. So maybe Ferry does not use this lining any more.

@Norm.Core lol should’ve clarified, my lining is not thin. Just not as thick as my Massaccesi bags’ lining. Probably just normal thickness, but feels very polyester.

Inside the bag. You can’t see the lining clearly but you can see the leather pockets which is a nice touch. There are two leather pockets, one on each side of the bag.

@Fancyfree i didn’t know you got 2 weekenders! Did you get the same colour? Anything else you’re eyeing from frrry?

I liked my first Collapse 4-Weekender so much that I ordered his second and last one. They are identical. Now all I need is a new, equally stylish car for a road trip

I have been considering the Owl, but am undecided about colour. Love your blue one, but I never wear that bright colours.

What about his rock colour? I know you like your greys

Also want to add how much of a pleasure it is to talk with Ferry. After I got my happy bag, I reached out to him to ask whether he could make me a Mini Moon with one of the colours on my happy bag. He responded back with a list of details on why this leather may not work with Mini Moon, but said he could make it for me anyway if I wish, only that it wouldn’t come out the way that aligns with his original vision of the bag. He doesn’t try to make you buy his bag, he clearly communicates and isn’t there to make money whenever possible. I have a lot of respect for this kind of artist.

Thanks for taking a pic of the lining @afroken. I only have one Frrry bag and is unlined (works for me) but I was curious how he does his lining. Calling it Happy bag is perfect cuz it does make me smile when I see all the colours. It”/ also the best way to get a sampling of all his learners for future bags.

^^^ This is so on point and part of the strong appeal of Frrry bags to me, apart from his fun bag designs. Ferry is a pleasure to work with. He is quick to reply to emails and tries to work with you, especially if it’s more custom.

I also requested a specific leather that he’s not used for his Cube. Ideally, something softer like pebbled leather would work better for the style but he did it and was also curious of how it would turn out. And since I requested no interior pocket, he made a Berry with the same veg tanned leather leather as a replacement. To me, that is just care and anticipation of the customer’s needs. I am so impressed with the bag and him that I’m working out what next to Frrry bag to get.

I received part 1 of my frrry order: owl bag in blue. It’s a stunning shade of blue, Ferry describes it as Yves Klein’s blue, and I think it’s spot on.

The leather is thick and substantial. The bag is slouchy but doesn’t puddle. I’m already looking into my third frrry bag, possibly a pink, bamboo, or another blue - maybe another owl or a mini moon. The only thing is that I wish it had come with a dustbag.

Very happy to have found this brand!
My happy bag arrived and it took a mere 2 business days! Oh my goodness I love her so. Who allowed her to look so cute :heart::love:

I see it’s back on sale on frrry’s website in case anyone’s interested. Maybe he decided to make more!

OMG, your two bags are so beautiful! The color on the owl is stunning!

@Norm.Core and @afroken, I agree 100% that Ferry‘s passion is also part of the appeal of Frrry. That was also what make me like the designs, that he has made his thoughts about how he designs the bags and what material to choose to match them perfectly. I was also impressed that he omits playing the advertisement and promoting game, but prefer to concentrate on his work himself. When you communicate with him you really get a sense that this his passion. I myself enjoy supporting this kind of energy.

I have been using the Wednesday daily since I got it for work and I absolutely love this bag. It looks elegant, but fits all my stuff perfectly for work and is also light. I think Ferry also makes his bags to be used so they seem sturdy to me, but what I enjoy most besides the simple yet interesting design is, that thick leather! I though I might be crazy, that I wanted some more pieces, but I seem not to be alone. Used the owl for dinner and a stroll up to now. Monday is still up for use (bad weather and pink was a bit much for now…).

I myself love the muted colors, the new rock seems to be very similar to the misty color of my owl and the bamboo. Initially my first choice would have been the Wednesday in the misty color which was sold out years ago, I guess. Have to tame me not to get another one.

How did you all like using your bags?

I feel like I will eventually end up owning an Owl with all the posts here about this specific style. I really appreciate all your feedback because I know tPFers will say it how it is. :flowers: I love the shape and umm slight oddity of the handles. Part of the playfulness of the design. I bet it would look awesome in Rock but that’s a little bit down the line cuz I have 2 more Frrry bags that is on my priority list.

Really enjoyed carrying my Cube when I was on vacation. It’s an easy crossbody bag but on the small side. So really a necessities-only kind of bag which is what I was looking for. The veg tanned leather has a lovely smooth feel to it but it is probably stiffer than your pebbled bags (as noted by Ferry) so I have to use it more to get it softer. Had a lot of rain when I got back here to Sydney and although I’ve sprayed it with water repellent, I also don’t want to take any chances so I’ll use it again when we have better weather.

I really like the Cube’s fun shape so it’s making me consider getting a Pumpkin for the size bump to use for work BUT my next Frrry in mind is a Collapse bag. I am waiting for my 2nd Berry and leather samples in the mail. He’s also told me he’s waiting for a new leather batch in the next few weeks that might work for what I wanted so I’m trying to slow my roll and just enjoy the process. He’s got such a calming vibe about him that my need of a bag fix isn’t as frantic. Haha Having been around since 2002 and 16,000-plus bags and counting shows me Frrry’s got it going on. But he’s doing it at his own pace and that is so admirable.

I really like my frrry bags! I took my happy bag out for the first time yesterday and she was turning heads everywhere. I like that not only is Ferry is passionate and proud of his work, but his designs are so original too. You know nobody out there have seen anything like it before. Went to the art gallery yesterday and couldn’t resist taking a photo of my happy bag with her painting-twin:

I just ordered another happy bag from frrry  this bag is so me, if I were to be reborn as a bag this would be it:giggle: I asked for a few modifications: different colour combinations, different coloured handles and strap than my current one - so I don’t feel like I have two of the exact same bag. The price is unbelievable.

I haven’t used my owl bag yet but plan on using her for the next few days. A lovely tpfer is also interested in the owl and I’ll be testing it out for her. The leather is so thick, I love it and it’s quirky shape.

Which other two frrry bags do you have on your priority list? You can totally get a sense of his playful personality from his bags. I love the cube, do you like wearing her as crossbody? Do you find that the shape is easy to use?

I usually carry a small/medium size bag plus my laptop bag to work, so small/medium bags are the only ones I buy. But I too have been intrigued with his collapse bags especially after @Fancyfree ’s glowing reviews. I hope he gets to make a small handheld/crossbody version of his collapse bag sometime.

Oooo. I’m excited for you about your 2nd Happy Bag. And even customised! Can’t wait to see it. ❤️

I initially wanted a Bow because it reminds me of a doctor’s bag but now I’m thinking of pushing that back for later and prioritise getting a Collapse Day — medium size like a Balenciaga City. My usual everyday go-to for work is a Bal First. With my Cube, I can fit the same stuff when I use my First and maybe Collapse Day to give my Bal City a rest. I know I have other bags as alternatives but I need another Frrry.

But this is the twist... I reached out to Ferry to see if he can do just a smidge smaller than a Collapse Day and use Black leather and he disclosed that this collection actually started with 5 sizes. He said there was a Collapse Night that is roughly the size of my Cube. That because it’s smaller, he recommended using leather that isn’t as thick as what he uses now for his larger Collapse bag. I was so intrigued that I’m now thinking to get another small bag and get a medium later. Technically, I use my Bal First MORE than my City so it makes sense to my purse-addicted brain. Haha

So that’s where I’m at, waiting for his new batch of thinner leather for this cute-size Collapse. He said he has to get the leather first to determine if it’s gonna work and he’ll let me know. So my next 2 Frrry bags gonna be the Collapse Night (1st) and Collapse Day (2nd). I just love the concept that they flatten when not in use!

Another Bal fan! Balenciaga City was the first premier bag that I wanted (and really, the bag that started it all). Maybe our love for Bal's aesthetics is what brought us to frrry  just wondering, the Collapse Day seem to be more structured, while Bal City is slouchy, so would it look bigger than the City? The City drapes against your body and Collapse Day seem to keep its shape - just wanted to make sure you've thought of that if you wanted Collapse Day to replace your City

Can you please post a photo of your Collapse Night if you decide to get it? Be still my heart! This is exactly what I wanted  but I'll need to sit on my hands for a bit and wait for my money tree to grow. It's bare at the moment.

I’m the same that it’s Balenciaga bags that really solidified my purse addiction nearly 20 years ago. ❤️ I’m hoping that a Collapse Day will have a somewhat similar capacity as a City so I can fit my umbrella with our wet La Niña autumn/winter this year. I actually find that sometimes a City is too slouchy thus I’m more of a First fan but it’s the puddly Bal Chevre leather that always gets me.

I’ll see how the Collapse Night turns out and report back. Ferry said it will take several weeks for him to receive the thinner black leather he’s thinking that might work for this smaller size so that’ll also give me more time building purse funds for it. :giggle:

I posted a review of my owl bag in another thread after using it for the past 4 days, and thought I should post it here too for anyone who’s interested in the owl

I worked at the office two days, and wore the bag crossbody these two days. The other two days when I worked at home, I wore the bag as a shoulder bag when running some errands. Pros and cons below.

Pros:
  • Extremely easy to access interior
  • Snap button closure very easy to use, very tight but still seamless to open (and close)
  • Thick leather (2-3mm)
  • Wonderful slouch when worn crossbody or handheld, but still keeps its shape
  • Crossbody strap is comfortable
  • Can stand on its own and doesn’t puddle
  • Very light (500g when empty)

Cons
  • When worn as a shoulder bag, the shape looks like a rectangle box and doesn’t slouch as nicely as crossbody
  • No zip pocket inside (there are 2 flat pockets, 1 is too small to hold anything other than a card)
  • No dust bag (I feel this should be a standard add-on for expensive handbags - although frrry isn’t as expensive as premier brands, but even high street brands offer dust bags)

In conclusion, I like and enjoy this bag very much. I might get a pink one at some point. I’ve walked long distances with her and not once do I feel like my shoulder is hurting, and I’m sensitive to weight. The leather is very thick, chewy, robust and soft. Button closure is very easy to use and because the leather is very thick, I don’t think the snap button would stretch the leather. Attaching some photos of the snap button close-up.

Let me know if you have any questions or require more photos! I’m taking her to meet a friend for Mexican food tomorrow (5th straight day of wearing her ).

OMG, I would love a black collapse! Very excited to see how everything turns out from what you discussed!

@afroken Your owl is stunning, the color is very very beautiful, Yves Saint Laurent blue definetely hits it right on the spot! Despite the thick leather it really is so lightweight right?! I feel the same with the Wednesday, have been using it since I got it for work and I do that because it is so comfortable because it is so lightweight, BUT looks substantial!
Btw. congrats to your second Happy Bag! Excited to see how the second one will look like!

Is the crossbody strap removable? I love the shape of the bag, especially as a handheld! And it comes in sone beautiful colors! He has some great designs, but Owl speaks to me. And I love his attitude/approach! Hadno idea he made your happy bag too, but it makes total sense that it is one of his.

You can remove the straps. They are attached inside via carabiner.
