Avatar pics are small, but if your clutch is a Flat Clutch model and strapless then it would be F/W '03 with Pewter Hardware, and if its got a Handle attached it's from S/S '04 with the same hardware. The "Makeup" Clutch style came out in S/S '04 as well.
There are differences in leather from season to season or year to year, but there's also individual hide differences within the seasons and years that seem like throw-backs & fast-forwards of those season/year trends. Colors definitely repeat, even when they aren't exact copies.
The old leather is night and day to the new stuff. The oldies are better in my opinion after handling over 5,000 luxury designer brand bags. The earliest leather (season 1 & 2) didn't have the problems of fading, color shifting, etc. plus they were handcrafted if not handmade. They are amazing bags, and everyone I've seen touch one was impressed.
I have a super rare (thanks to a sweet PFer) 2001 Le Dix "Village" bag that has THE SOFTEST Smooth season 1 & 2 leather that's out-of-this-world soft! Softer than anything I've ever touched on Earth, softer than a baby's bottom, softer than vintage Hermes silk. It's dark chocolate brown, smooth calfskin or lambskin, and is a style I've only seen on a celebrity shot and since no one knows the real name, my hubby named it the "Village" as it may be a prototype "City" bag.

^^ Oh wow, I never even knew that style existed. And why does Kourtney Kardashian have one!?!?!? I bet you she doesn't have it anymore and probably has no idea how special it is.![]()
Thanks babe. It's 03 light caramel weekender snuggling with 03 or 04 (who can tell?) black clutch.
Actually I would guess it's s/s 04 because it is ultra velvety soft and smooth. 03 would be thicker and more "textural". See, I can't stop discussing the nuances of oldies.

As someone whose collection is made up of mostly early 01 - 05 bags I really love this thread. There's nothing like the oldies for sure!
Maybe you will through in some of your beloved oldie picturesJust to give us a little more eye candy.

Pictures or it didn't happen!![]()
Sadly for my wallet - it happened. J/K, it's been over a decade to acquire all of these. I keep saying I'm going to "thin the heard", but every time I get ready to - I realized I'd never find X again - in that condition - at that price, etc. etc. So I end up with backups for my backups. I do use them everyday though, year after year after year. So it's worth it to me.
