Ah! This is a fantastic idea & thread! I used to LIVE by Atelier Naff!! I was MIA for a few years and I remember when the site was taken down...does anyone know what really happened?

This is a fantastic idea...do you have the big Balenciaga Book (their history etc)? I have it and I know there are a few references to NG & the Le Dix/ Moto. If it's not in that book...it's another one I have;)

Longtime Bal lover here and I bow to the greats of tPF Bal forum! :worthy: This article is fascinating and I can't believe it's been that long since that first Le Dix. Atelier Naff was my go-to guide for all things Bal, and I had several experiences where I was educating the SA on Balenciaga thanks to that site and this forum. Love this post!

Gosh I miss the Atelier Naff website. I used as a resource for so many years. I know we've asked you before realdealcollection - but any chance you'd have an inventory of sold items so we can keep track of makes and models of bags. I know you used to have one for years - and then it was gone due to server issues, but once that was gone AND the Atelier Naff website it was a desert in terms of information about past years. Even if just thumbnails to make image sizes more manageable - I know jpegs are really tiny space wise once condensed.

^ Totally. It is so interesting that there were only 25 to 30 "Le Dix" Balenicaga Motorcycle Lariat bags made for and given to the girls that liked them at the 2001 runway show. They are super rare bags; in the last 8 years I've been selling Balenicaga bags professionally, we have had a single, ONE (1) 2001 gold tag "Le Dix" Black Leather Flat Brass First bag out of over 3000 Balenciaga bags! In the same time, we've had TWO (2) Caramel Leather FBFs, & FOUR (4) Black Pebbled Caribou FBFs, & ONE (1) Chocolate Pebbled Caribou FBF! The 2001 bags are super-duper rare, and fabulous. The leather is better than anything I've felt before and I am in the position of creating a historical reference on the Balenicaga moto bag with FIVE (5) more 2000/2001 bags to share with you all soon. But in the meantime, here is some '01 Eye Candy for ya'll:

Wow - what a fluke. One of my very first b-bags was the 2001 le dix in my profile picture. I didn't even know it was the first bag when I purchased it, I just wanted that bag I had seen. I have some 2002 fbf bags I use and carry too - but my le dix (and my 2002 s/s unused black FBH) are my crown jewels. The leather on those two bags are superior to all my other 40+ bags, even 2003, 2004, and 2007 year bags.

My fantasy is that you will start a thread here and go through the years individually. All the stuff you knew/ did in 03 and how you describe that leather , then go to 04 and on through the decade ending with 09.
I have opinions and theories for 03-05 leather....like 07 leather was a throwback to 03 in that it is thicker, puffy and distressed.....that 03 olive brown is the precursor for 07 vert fonce and 03 red is the model for 05 rogue theater and that 04 is the softest of those years, and 05 the silkiest.
What do you think?

I definitely agree with you that 03 olive is the precursor to 07 VF. Unfortunately I don't have both to compare. I have an 07 VF, but was deprived of my chance to get my HG Olive brown city because of some nefarious fedex employee. I also agree with you regarding the other colors.

I have both 03 Olive and 07 VF - the colors are close.... but my VF is much more brown then green, but then again VF seems to vary bag to bag.
