chessmont, I am a major red lips fan but with me getting older, the full coverage is starting to look strange on me. I love the NYC Color Sheer Red and Mahagony. The NYC Color's sheer red turns up a tiny bit of rust hue on my lips tho.

I have found a perfect blue-red sheer lipstick for myself from Sephora. My natural lips ranges from pink to brown during the day. I've always stuck with the true blue reds. It is called Lip Attitude in Glamour G12. It is $12, but only a few dollars more than a drugstore lippie that sells for $7.50.

Here is a swatch. I cannot believe I'm showing my lips online LOL but I love discussing red lips. I just swiped it on my lips so i haven't prepped my lips - too early in the morning. This has a fragrance of candies on it, just so you know. Less sticky than what I remember of the Clinique sheers.

What do you think of it, for yourself? I ran 2 light passes over the lips. It's buildable color.

Wow that look wonderful - I like to stay in the blue-red range.

Yu have GORGEOUS lips! I may order some of this! Thank you so much!

OK I feel like a major stupid idiot; I searched Sephora and found the color, but how the heck to I add it to my basket? Even when I search another color, I cannot see where to Add.

When I search for Glamour, below, it shows a lit of all the colors and a box to add a number ot basket, but "Glamour" is not listed.

Maybe I have had too many glasses of wine! Help!

Glamour is the name of the Sephora lipstick line, sorry I wasn't clear. I actually had to look for the name too since I only know it as #12. The one you are looking for is called Charming Violet 12 (sheer burgundy). I guess it is blue enough to call it violet).

This is the page. Do you see basket buttons on the right hand side?
Sephora: Sephora Brand Lip Attitude - Glamour: Lipstick

--Hey thank you! At least now I know it wasn't the wine, :D I was looking for a color named "Glamour"

Ok, I'll give this color a try!

I found a sheer red that I like and I also shy away from red lipsticks:

Givenchy Rouge Interdit Shine Lipstick #14 Rosybrown Shine, described on Sephora as golden plum brown shimmer, which would not mean "red" for me!
I tried this one on at Sephora along with others in this line. I really like Givenchy lipsticks!

This is a lipstick not a gloss. It is not gloppy and sticky and it feels quite matte/dry when you put it on. It is moisturizing and I like the way it feels on me.

The color on me is a sheer red. I have rather dark lips - do you say heavily pigmented? - so many sheers look pretty nude on me. This one adds just the right amount of red!

I'm still loving The Lipstick Queen products (but not cheap compared to what brands I had been using). There is a range of sheer lipsticks called "Saint" Saint Rouge, Saint Rose, etc. I really like them. And as I said before the lip gloss pencils are amazing. Not at all sticky, which is another pet peeve of mine with glosses.

I read through this thread and was going to suggest the Lipstick Queen line as well!! I love sheer lipstick and gloss...I used to wear matte red lips every single day for years (yep, it was high maintenance) but now am into a softer look. Lipstick Queen is the best!!! The sheer (Saint) red, rust, and wine lipsticks all work wonderfully on me (I have light olive skin -- NC35), in fact people ask me about the red one in particular all the time when I wear it. The coral and nude Saint lipsticks are also great...but the pinks don't show up on me at all.

I am dying to try the gloss pencils from Lipstick Queen now.

I just mix bright blue-red gloss with clear gloss.

Take the applicator from the red one, and dunk it into the clear one and wave it around to mix. Do that a few times and test, do it some more if you need to until you get just the right amount of color.

If you want it to be less "glossy," blot it.

Or if you are stuck on it being a stick, try Burt's Bees in Ruby or Rose.

-I am very fair so the pinks etc look fine on me. I hope you like the gloss sticks. I was always on a search (in another thread) for non-sticky, sheer but a little glossy products to replace one that was discontinued. I like these LQ sticks, not the least of which, I am easily fascinated and can't believe how a gloss can be in a pencil form!

Just FYI, it is sheer and very subtle as far as gloss - you won't have a pouty, shiny look... I just wish she made more colors in it.
