None of my family or friends buy or are interested in designer things, so it's very hard for me to talk about my love of designer bags to anyone! I consider this forum to be one of my most treasured finds :P!

My mum and dad are so critical when i buy handbags, telling me that i should be saving for a house or using that money for worth while things. The best thing is my brother sort of understands, he loves opening my packages up with me or going shopping with me :)

My friends just laugh at me & say, oh, she's at it again. Mum's the word with my family. I don't dish about how much I spend or have spent on bags, even though i'm over 40, independent, have been working for 25+ years. I think they'd be much more critcal for the mere fact that recently, I was in the Coach boutique with some family members & they ranted about how $$$$ the bags were & I just agreed with them. I could only imagine their reaction if I actually showed up with Coach, LV, Gucci, Prada, BV, etc. I don't carry any of my designer bags around my family, it's just easier that way.

My family will tease me sometimes. Like, my mom will say, "Is that a new purse?" and I'll just say I've had it for a while, lol. Or my sister will ask how much the one I'm wearing cost and roll her eyes. Other than that, they don't say much...but, my mom's the worst!! :p

At work, Assest Protection has to check employee's bags before you leave (to make sure you didn't steal), and the guy is always like "Ooh, a new purse!!", haha! One time he asked how much it cost and I told him, he was shocked! He's like "My girlfriend better not spend that much!". And this was a $200 Botkier.

After reading that you are still living at home. I have to agree that a house is definitely worth saving more vs. handbag.

My DH is pretty supportive (though i never disclose to him how much my bags ACTUALLY cost, lol) My dad tease me about it, pretending to scratch my bags with his fingernails, etc. But he doesn't know how much they really cost either. He just knows they're expensive. My mom, on the other hand, loves purses herself but gives me GRIEF if she knows i buy designer purses. Ironic, no? She does give me her purses if i ask for them and was actually the one who introduced me to designer bags at a younger age. So, i really don't understand why she scolded me for buying an LV, saying it's impractical!

I can barely imagine how she'd react if she knows about my pradas, balenciagas, ysls, givenchy, etc. She'd freak out! (she thinks i only own a speedy and a neverfull). So, whenever she comes over, i hide all my bags at my mother in law's house. LOL! :lolots: Good thing she lives out of the country and only visits once a year. I can still use my purses freely whenever she's not around :)

hm. not really, i've actually converted my sister + mom into looking into purses more. my BF rolls his eyes a bit, but with good humor. i don't think they mind as i got my sister, mom, and best friend purses for this past Christmas :p

I dont think buying a house or saving for one is any ones decision but mine. I see you both live in the USA which actually makes a lot of difference on your opinion. I live in australia so when we turn 18, we become legal to everything.(driving, alcohol ect) Im still only learning how to drive, so i'm not gonna start saving up for a house when i don't even own a car yet. I only work part-time and being still in school, i just don't think its the right time yet. I have told my parents that as soon as i start getting a full time job, i will put my all into it! :) But for now, I think i deserve all the bags i have, and im lucky enough to also have an aunty who LOVES bags and buys one for me occasionally :)
