A close friend of mine has been pretty distant the last month or so, so i text her just asking her to spill the beans because i was worried about our friendship.
She said...
'Steph you are just a show off, you always show off how rich you are'

I was soo confused by this point, i was like rich?! I mean its not like i dont have money, but rich? I wish :P

I asked her why she thinks this and she just replied 'Like you always rock up, with your chanel bag and your chanel earings and your designer this and designer that'
Anyway it keeps going on...

I was like... :confused1: what the?! So apparently I'm some sort of rich ***** because i have nice things!!
I dont even know what to feel, i'm sad for loosing my friend, but also angry because i should be able to buy and wear what i want!

Anyone been in a similar situation? What do your friends think of your bags and stuff?

uhhh what the heck. she's probably jealous or envious that she doesn't have what you have. it's not your fault that you like nice things. everyone likes different things!

i have never been in a similar situation. most of my friends are not obsessed with designer bags and clothes like me. they like their own things and we accept that and none of us brag about it to put each other down. most of my friends think it's pretty neat that i have a Chanel bag (singular, i only have one LOL) and they think it's nice and that's pretty much it lol.

i say maybe you should tell your friend that you have no idea that you were offending her in any way and that maybe she could elaborate more on why she is mad at you.

Most of my friends don't share the same interest I have so we just don't talk about bags or other luxury items. But I know there are definitely people who dislike others with beautiful things. Like Tpfers always get bashed on by girls from other forums, I forget the name but it was a forum to share more common brand items like BR or J Crew bags... These people lurk on TPF just to copy and paste some of the Tpfers message onto their forums to laugh at how ridiculous Tpfers are and how people from this forum probably don't need to work... :nogood:

Yeh, I agree. But she probably isn't a very good friend to begin with if she lets jealousy ruins your friendship

i am very sorry about your story... sounds like your "close" frd is too jealous....
my best friends know i love and carry Chanel and altho they don't, they are fine with it, we still talk about bags and everything
i try to be considerate and not carry as much Chanel sometimes, but true friends should be happy for your achievement, maybe your frd has been lacking confidence?

Yes that's true..Many of my friends don't carry Chanel too so they get the wrong idea that those who carry Chanel are plain show-offs. They don't understand that it's just that we appreciate the beauty of chanel bags and of course we will carry them..afterall, aren't bags to be carried??:cool:

I was browsing online and got to that site unintentionally and I came across a subject similar to "what is the purseforum about" Got curious so I read the comments but they were all bad. Anyway, the above link is not the site I am talking about but should give you an idea.

It goes BOTH ways, I don't judge you and think you're poor and a loser 'cause you dont have the desinger stuff that I have. So don't judge me if I want to sport my designer or non-designer bag for the day!

I get grief indirectly :oh::huh:

I found out through the grapevine that someone close to me has been indignant about my handbag acquisitions. She felt I shouldn't afford my bags because I'm a stay-home parent in a one-income household and that I should be focused on my child's finances for the future. She herself is financially well off and has beautiful bags and trust funds for her kids. It's a good life. So where her righteousness over my life comes from, I have no idea?

I use my own resourcefulness to find bargains and pre-owned pieces but I'm getting the vibe I'm being viewed as not being in their "league."

I wish the person who told me this would keep their mouth shut :p

jealousy or envy is a terrible characteristic to have in your

personality.. yes, sadly speaking I have experienced this.

and have found the best thing to do is have a talk about it and

if you are still not enjoying the relationship, walk away.. when

you look back in several months, you will realize that it was the

best decision you made.. if she is jealous of a bag, jewelry, etc

she will never be happy for you in the long run....:nuts:
