Fading embossing on Empreinte leather

Isn’t there some way LV can re emboss this? The fading is my major concern with empreinte long term. Seems that people have had mixed success and failure with the wear and tear of the bag. Any tips to keep the embossing sharp?

Embossing is done in a machine in which you place the piece of leather flat. You can't re-emboss the leather once the bag has been constructed. The slight fading of the embossing is normal overtime for this type of soft leathers.

This is a bit of a glamorized version of the process for marketing purposes, but pretty accurate:

I know this is an old thread, but I wanted to show y'all my faded Empreinte in case it helps someone make an informed decision about buying from the Empreinte line. This is an Empreinte Sorbonne backpack compared to my Empreinte Boetie bag. I used my backpack as an every day purse, slightly more frequently then the Boetie, but still the Boetie was an every day work bag for a while, and still looks immaculate. I cannot figure out why one has held up better than the other. I feel like at the price-point, these imprinted-leathers should be holding up better. I bought both in February of 2018.

Wow!!!! I’ve had my eye on empreinte for awhile now in the PM and that same backpack. Price point relative to canvas and precisely these fears have held me back. I wonder if it’ll fade to a smooth leather eventually? Because that would be nice! But the half faded monogram is so sad looking! What a bummer! I wonder if they have different empreintes like they have a softer and thicker canvas? Or if it’s just the batch? Or what! Have you taken the backpack to LV to see what they say?!

I asked my SA last time I was in the store, and he said it was too far past the sales date to return it and that the fading of the embossing was normal, not considered a defect. I believe that maybe the bent shape of the Sorbonne backpack led to a quicker fade whereas the Boetie leather is mostly just flat and less stressed, which allows it to keep the imprint better, longer.

But the half faded monogram is so sad looking!
It IS kind of sad looking, but I still use it quite a bit and even get compliments on it, believe it or not. I still use it relatively often, but I feel bad since it was the first expensive purse my husband bought me, and I'm sure he's like "wtf" when he sees something like this happen, making the entire world of luxury handbags look like a huge waste of money / scam to him.

I wish I could heartily recommend this bag to you, but sadly, I too would be cautious if I were you. Which is tough, because I feel like there are very few cute, black backpacks in the luxury handbag market at the moment. That being said, the Boetie has fared much better, and I also have the matching wallet and cellphone case (I know, I'm an idiot), both of which have fared well so far (the cellphone cover much better than the wallet). So maybe my backpack was from a bad batch? Maybe I used it too much and subjected it to too much wear&tear? Who knows. I'm glad if my post helps you and/or others make a more informed decision though!

You should post to LV social media pages and if you bought from LV in a department store, I would put a message on their social media too. This is horrible. I do not consider this normal wear for a bag that is a year old. I have an Empreinte Felicie in Noir purchased in June 2017 and it still looks new. I would reach out to LV customer service too. Make sure you show pics of both bags to show the difference in quality.

Totally agree!!!! I am tired of these companies getting away with subpar products. They should be exposed to the public so they fix their shortcomings

So sorry OP. I have the Artsy in Infini and have also experienced softening of the leather. I don’t really mind, because it makes the logo more subtle. However, after just a year of owning your bag, I would be very unhappy if the imprinting was no longer visible. I would definitely take that bag in to LV! I hope you get it resolved!

That is shocking! I have noticed this before and that is why I have have resisted purchasing a Pochette Metis in the Empreinte Noir. It is a gorgeous bag but I am afraid of this happening.

See, I actually prefer the way that the one on the left looks. I know that leaves me in the minority, but I bought mine very gently pre-loved and it wasn't super super crisp to begin with. It doesn't bother me. Maybe if mine had been deeply embossed and then faded over time, I would feel differently.
