Experiences with SELLING to Bag Borrow or Steal

A few of us on tPF have sold bags to BBOS. Unless they changed their process, it took a while -- after sending an email with pics, I heard back after 2 days with the bid. It was quite low. For an $189 bag used for only 3 times, I got a $66 bid (check) or $99 credit towards the purchase of any of their bags or I guess also to rent. But I went ahead and sent the bag. It took 2 weeks before getting a check back. Then of course I'll see the bag later being sold on BBOS for 3x the price...at least that's what others have observed.

I received a very low offer, one which I could definitely do better at auction, which it is in fact. Example, new Chanel jewelry -- cost was $650, back in 2008. Their offer was $240ish cash and $300ish credit. (sorry I forgot the exact amount). It's already at auction with a bidder for $489 on the first day and will likely go for higher since I keep getting BIN offers.

However, if you don't like the risk that comes with auctioning, than BBOS may be a decent option. I read some reviews online and individuals posted that BBOS also charges a small fee once they get the bag for cleaning. I believe something in the realm of $30, which isn't part of their quote. Also, they give 2 quotes, one for cash and one for store credit, with the store credit being a much better offer. Try searning online, that's how I found the reviews.

I just sent to BBOS 5 bags/accessories. Their offers are in par with fashionphile/yoogis. They still have to make their profits just like any other consignment store so at least 30% commission. But their store credit is better. If you think you can do better on ebay, then try ebay first. Ebay has been very slow, and with all the changes in ebay now, i am very reluctant to sell any high end item there. I only sell stuff starting $0.99, all the designer handbags i consign. After ebay /paypal fees and with all the potential problems with buyers nowadays, at least to me it's not worth it the extra change. Once you receive the checks from consignment store, you're good. But if your item sold on ebay, i have to wait until a positive feedback is left and after 45 days then i feel at ease. Ebay is a very different place now

My personal experience has been super. I sold my first bag to them about a month ago - got a great price, and the check was here super fast.

Since Friday, I have sold them 15 more pieces. Several bags, and lots of small leather goods (all Coach - I just want it all gone). Anyway - I've made over $2000 with them since Friday. They have been VERY fair. And I took the store credit on one bag, so I could use it to buy an RM they have there. Considering all the ridiculous lunatic buyers on eBay, plus their insane fees and stupid policies, BBoS can't be beat. Also, Avelle/BBoS has FABULOUS customer service reps. I can't say enough good about them - they rock!!!

when I want to consign/do direct purchase I just email all the consignment shops with my pictures, the one that offers me the most I go for. Some items vary from store to store quite a bit, so good to shop around.
ebay is way too scarey for selling high end items lately

For everything I've sent in, their quotes have been equal to what I purchased the item for, or better. And they take no fees out whatsoever - they even pay shipping. And I've never had them reduce the amount for cleaning fees, but I keep all my bags immaculate, so there's nothing to be cleaned. And I personally couldn't care less how much they resell it for - I am just happy for a hassle- free transaction with a good $$$ return.

I totally agree. I've sold them a few things that I actually couldn't sell on Ebay, plus I didn't have to pay any fees or shipping, which is half my profit these days. They can resell it for whatever they want to, IMO, as long as I get the price I want out of it. I would MUCH rather deal with BBOS than crazy Ebay buyers!

I have a few things lying around and may try to pursue them through BBOS. Just can't deal with ebay. I was sweating bullets with one transaction last year. Ebay just makes me too nervous to bother anymore.
