Got my first BF piece today…I thought I was done with Evelyne TPMs but when my SA said Barenia Faubourg Ebene I changed my answer. Also: very interesting but useless TIL - the receipt item actually says “Clemence” but it is most definitely BF.

Congratulations!!!

Did you get charged for the price of a clemence Evelyn TPM for a BF?:giggle:

Looks like this year is a BF year for me, adding another piece…

In love with the smell…can’t wait to age with it.

Hi everyone! I just got a picotin, and curious if anyone with one can show me how theirs looks after some usage? I heard the handles can darken due to oil from hands and wondering what that looks like. Do you use Twillies on the handles to protect it? Or just let it be ? Did the lock leave a mark on the leather ? Thanks!! Do you find u have to baby the bag or are you rather care free with it? :) just new to this leather and want to care for it in the best possible way

IMG_5789.jpeg Here’s my B35 (meant to be a reply to the post before this one!). I don’t baby it, but I’m not careless with her, either, exactly. I do use Saphir Creme Universelle on her once in a while and gently put some on any scratches just to blend them in. The patina is slowly happening and she is, to me, perfect  It really depends on your personal tastes and what you want out of your bag’s look and feel. But this leather is a tough and beautiful one…I’ve had her in light London rain and drizzle and she’s been just fine. The handles are darkening a little, but the Creme Universelle on the body of the bag blends it all in a bit. Some people prefer their BF to be lighter; I like mine to have a bit more tone to it.

Hi! Is this Fauve BF? If yes, it’s starting to look like a brick color (which is beautiful btw!) I have mine for 6mos now (which I dont baby either) and I accidentally pressed water on it to get dirt out of it’s tiny crevice and now it has a water mark which I am afraid to touch at this point. I have the Saphir Renovateur, do you think that would blend the water mark and it look even?

I just got in a barenia faubourg bastia because I wanted a little something in BF to test and to sniff, as I heard the smell was amazing. Well, I smelled it and it's certainly not what I was expecting. I thought it'd smell like a new car... but instead it kind of smells like rank olive oil. <_< Does the smell evolve into something better? Is my nose broken? Or do I just not care for the smell like I thought?

This is very unusual. Barenia is meant to smell generally quite "nice" to many of us and it doesn't evolve, it just fades naturally over time. I hope there isn't anything different with your item. 🤔

Beware, following post is PG-13 rated.

Was having a delightful morning until my cup of overnight oats went straight down the front of by BF B35. Luckily muscle memory kicked in. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a photo of the initial damage as I was in triage mode, but wanted to share my steps and results.

Immediately got a clean white towel and softly (literally no pressure) dabbed the oatmeal slop off my bag.

Got a new clean white towel, applied generous amounts of water (rag was sopping in the area I got wet). Dabbed all over with no pressure and soaked the area. I mean soaked. And an area much larger than where the stain was.

Got my hairdryer, low heat. From about foot away, dried the spot moving hairdryer quickly over surface.

Repeated about 7 times. Lots of water applied very softly. Lightly dry about 2 min between each water application.

Completely fixed.

This would shake me to my CORE. So amazing that soaking it actually worked to prevent a mark, amazing fast thinking! Did it happen within immediate reach of a hair dryer or did you have to drive home?

It smells like leather, but a different note, more vegetative or earthy to me. So you may not be wrong, you may just be experiencing the smell differently based on what your memories have references of. Your nose isn't broken, don't worry.

Can you ask your SA if it smells normal to them? I really like the smell of my barenia, and it smells really great to me, but it definitely smells different than my other leathers. My BF calvi is one of my favorite SLGs and it's 4 years old now and it doesn't have too much of a smell anymore after constant use.

Now I'm super curious about the smell. I actually dislike the new car smell so it might be a good thing for me.
