BabyDoll--How many bags do you have right now? I'd suggest picking the top 50% of what you own. Just hold your favorite bag next to another one and honestly decide which one you would rather carry. You'll soon figure out which ones need to go.
I understand the no-clutter thing. I go on tears several times a year donating things to Goodwill. I like having a drawer or two WITH NOTHING IN THEM in my bathroom and I have a pretty large walk-in closet with a fair amount of empty space. It's just easier for me to think when there is open space. I have one small IKEA open fabric container for my bags and that's it. I think that's another reason I love Lonchamp now that I have one--they take up very little room and are so practical.
Doreen--THanks for posting your collection pic of Longchamp bags. I'm definitely moving in that direction. I think I'd rather have just a few great leather bags and a few Longchamp and be done with it.
Lo--Completely understand the Catholic guilt thing. I tell my friends that if they do something bad, tell me and I'll feel guilty for them so they can go about their business!
I have a new strategy when I get tempted by other bags. When I see one I like, I think, "Would I rather carry that one than the one I'm carrying now?" Usually the answer is no and I can enjoy the style without feeling like I want to buy it. I've had to talk myself down on a couple of things but, for the most part, it works fairly easily.
I'm actually on a bit of a tear right now. I've decided to sell a couple of leather bags that I previously thought I'd keep. It turns out I'm happy enough with my new Lonchampt that it's helping me better prioritize the rest. I tend to have several slouchy hobo styles, which is really unnecessary even though I am pretty casual by nature. Maybe I only need 3 instead of 5!
Sometimes I think our bags can become our baggage when we aren't careful. I tend to appreciate things more when I only have a few well-loved things.
