Thanks so much for posting this pic, doreen!!! It's very helpful - the messenger doesn't look too small for my needs at all, in fact - I tend not to carry much. Your Le Pliage collection is fantastic - I have some of the matching cosmetics cases and the coin purse, too - I use them in all of my bags and they are the best.

You also gave me a great idea. I am going to get my mom a LePliage set (bag, cosmetics pouch, and coin purse) for her upcoming birthday. She likes simple, classic items and needs something something lightweight because of a shoulder problem. It is perfect for her! :yahoo:

Thank you. :D

That sounds like a wonderful present for your mom. I love my ocean blue set. I love my custom set in hot pink and royal blue even more.

I'm sure your mom will appreciate it. LePliage are so lightweight but still good looking. :flowers:

I am undecided and yes, want to get rid of clutter. I'm really into a clutter-free life now... a clean space looks much better, doesn't it?

I can relate to this. I've decided not to buy anything I don't have room for. If I can't think of where a bag will fit in my closet, it doesn't come home with me!

Having a clear space is much more calming that having a lot of stuff around me.

Agreed!! I own a total of 3 handbags right now (with 2 on on the way) and it is actually a lot more fun than having 10 or 12 like I used to, surprisingly enough. I don't spend so much time worrying about switching from one to the other all of the time so that they all get used and I don't feel guilty. :D

(I am very in touch with the whole Catholic guilt thing). :p

How do you decide what to let go of and what to keep?? My current count is 7 and at the moment id happily let go of one of them, however id like to get rid of one or 2 more in the future so I can put money towards a black balenciaga weekender and the chanel handbag that im hoping to put a deposit on in the next day or so. Im just not sure what to let go of..iv recently bought a Mulberry cerise daria hobo which I will likely get rid of in a few months and I know I definately want to keep my black e/w bayswater. Which leaves me with bleu nuit, whisky and jeans moyen paddington and a lipstick roxanne. But I really like all of them and cant imagine parting with them...

BabyDoll--How many bags do you have right now? I'd suggest picking the top 50% of what you own. Just hold your favorite bag next to another one and honestly decide which one you would rather carry. You'll soon figure out which ones need to go.

I understand the no-clutter thing. I go on tears several times a year donating things to Goodwill. I like having a drawer or two WITH NOTHING IN THEM in my bathroom and I have a pretty large walk-in closet with a fair amount of empty space. It's just easier for me to think when there is open space. I have one small IKEA open fabric container for my bags and that's it. I think that's another reason I love Lonchamp now that I have one--they take up very little room and are so practical.

Doreen--THanks for posting your collection pic of Longchamp bags. I'm definitely moving in that direction. I think I'd rather have just a few great leather bags and a few Longchamp and be done with it.

Lo--Completely understand the Catholic guilt thing. I tell my friends that if they do something bad, tell me and I'll feel guilty for them so they can go about their business!:D

I have a new strategy when I get tempted by other bags. When I see one I like, I think, "Would I rather carry that one than the one I'm carrying now?" Usually the answer is no and I can enjoy the style without feeling like I want to buy it. I've had to talk myself down on a couple of things but, for the most part, it works fairly easily.

I'm actually on a bit of a tear right now. I've decided to sell a couple of leather bags that I previously thought I'd keep. It turns out I'm happy enough with my new Lonchampt that it's helping me better prioritize the rest. I tend to have several slouchy hobo styles, which is really unnecessary even though I am pretty casual by nature. Maybe I only need 3 instead of 5!

Sometimes I think our bags can become our baggage when we aren't careful. I tend to appreciate things more when I only have a few well-loved things.

Hi, yes I do this periodically, sell what I don't love and get a new expensive bag I do love. Sometimes it works out well and sometimes it doesn't. I have sold on ebay and designers like LV and Chanel always sell and for good prices. I have tried to sell lesser designers like Kooba and others, they have not sold and I lost out...needed that $ toward my new purchase! also be wary now of selling on ebay, a buyer returned an LV bag to me in terrible condition and there is a new "buyer protection" policy now that pretty much leaves sellers stuck so for ebay beware: read the new "buyers protection Plan" and get real acqainted with it if you are counting on that money to buy a new bag. in essence even if you state in your listing no returns, the buyer can get a refund thru ebay for any made up reason and then ebay looks to you for that money. So be careful!!I had posted on a Chanel thread that I bought a pre-owned Chanel from a tpf recommended seller www.yoogiscloset.com and it is gorgeous, can't believe it was not straight off the store shelf. I am going to see if they want to consign a brand new Chanel wallet I just bought and am not happy with (too late to return it) you might want to try selling through them, their communication was fantastic throughout my purchase and to selll they'll ask for pics and get back to you. good luck!

bonnie321, I've had good experiences with Yoogi's Closet. They will give you about 30-40% of the bag's value outright, or you can wait until they sell it to get slightly more. They are very speedy with delivering the money, too. I recommend them highly if you're looking to sell one of the brands they accept. I figure by the time all the headaches of FeeBay and PayFoe are factored in, it's better to take the $ from Yoogi than to try to do a private sale.

Well, I HAD around 30-35. I've sold around 5 Louis Vuittons, 6 Christian Diors, and a Gucci. I'm now down to around a couple of LVs, a Chanel, a Prada, a Gucci clutch, a couple of Diors, an MJ and a few Coaches.

My criteria for deciding on whether to sell or keep is that if it's not used within 6 months of purchase, out it goes. I'm not running a bag museum. :p

And if it IS being used, then I use it for about a year, take very good care of it obviously, and sell it off. I have YET to find an it-bag that is perfect and worthy enough of selling everything off for!

I clearly need to hang out more here! I go in viscious cycles with my bags I was down to a good collectiod yet again and sold off many very HTF bags and now I have more thatn I want Argh! I guess in a way I liek apurse I want to use it then I am done with it and instead of putting in my closet I need to to just sell them. I would like 6 classic bags and when I say classic I mean classic for me not what is all the rage.

I have saved 4 fendi baguettes that cost me an arm and a leg from way back when and i will never part with them they are the perfect go with anything bag! I have scaled back My RM's and adding a few back. I have 2 chanels-well one the way after selling my first chanel) and 10 balenciaga's and a few others.

Dont' know where i can scale back this time.......it makes me sad to keep going through these cycles, it really is just an addiction!

I think this is really smart. I've just recently started doing that myself. I was planning to dump a bunch of bags and "pare down" by replacing them with "things I really loved" (as all the magazines are telling us to do...I can be such a sheep)...Ha! When I started looking for "what I really love" I realized that
"Hey! I have some kick-a** bags already and why am I needing to replace anything? I just need to appreciate what I already own."

Plus, selling to switch it out is no fun anymore (at least on ebay). I've decided I don't need the hassle---I'd rather give things away then feel bad about taking a big loss or stress over what crazy person is going to bid on my stuff this week. ;)

I feel the same way. I own bags people would love to have (at least that is what they told me)! I should just keep to what I've got now, for the most part...some I really never use and should really re-home...

I'm a big believer in buying one expensive item that is classic and will last you many many years than having several less expensive things that are either not made that well or on the trendy side.

So I say definitely sell 5 bags for that 1 expensive bag!!!! :smile1:
