Thank you doreen and loquita for your feedback!! I will be in Las Vegas next month and can try the LV's out and figure out if they'll really work for me! I do think that it's better to buy one fantastic item than waste money on 3-4 so-so items.

loquita, that is really disappointing news about your bag. Can it be fixed? How wonky is wonky???

Lo--So sorry to hear about your bag. That is a serious bummer and a huge disappointment.

Knas--I think that each person's approach will be different and I know that you really do use all your MACs so that may be the perfect fit for you. So, you own mostly MACs for different occasions and a few other styles to fill the gaps. As long as you feel comfortable, that's all that matters. Each person's magic number is different.

Platinum--Good job really evaluating what works for you and letting go of the Chanels. You can love a brand but understand that spending money on it when it doesn't fit your lifestyle can bring about conflict.

JxWilliams--I think you should only carry what you're comfortable carrying. Maybe you simply want to scale down overall in terms of bag numbers but stay with midlevel designers. I know I'm considered pretty low end in terms of what I carry, but I just can't justify more money. I have no problem with what other ladies choose--I think they should buy it and enjoy it as they like--I just know what my comfort level is and it's pretty low.

It's felt really good selling off some bags I love but that just didn't work for me. I ended up just purchasing a small Longchamp Pliage in Bilberry and I absolutely love it. In my scaling down process, I'm actually attracted to even less expensive (but quality) bags if that makes sense. I'm good with it, though...it works for my lifestyle.

Keep the stories and updates coming!

Believe it or not, they offered me MORE than what I paid for one of them. I got a Marc Jacobs at Off 5th for $135 (not MBMJ, an actual MJ) and they offered me $230 for it. It still has the tags attached.
But I know what you mean, their retail markup is RIDICULOUS! I sold them a Burberry a few weeks ago, and they paid me $300 for it. I saw it on sale on their website for $1200!

Yikes at the markup! But good for you they offered more than you though you'd get. That's not bad at all.

TM, thanks for the pics! I  Longchamp. Le Pliage is my favorite rainy weather and travel bag.

I'm going to add a Ferragamo to my collection soon. I just realized that they produced my "dream bag" in my "dream color," but it might have been exclusive to NM and NM is sold out. My fabulous SA at Ferragamo is trying to track one down.

If that doesn't come through, I'll get a different Ferragamo I've been looking at, the Sofia.

This purchase will bring my new, slimmed down bag collection a whopping 4 bags (not including clutches or Le Pliage).

Pardon me, I just have to vent!!!! The Ruby Day that I received today is beyond gorgeous in terms of the color and style, and it is brand spanking new. It is the perfect red for me. However, as soon as I opened the bag (I ordered it from Nordstrom's) I saw a problem with the handle - the sealant/coating on the handle's whipstitching is wonky, and some white leather is very clearly coming through. :crybaby:

This is the exact same problem that I had with a Ruby Day that I bought 2 years ago (from a consignment store, so I couldn't return it), except for it turned up after a few wearings. I ended up selling the bag at a loss, but never stopped loving the color and style. This was also the exact bag that made me quite buying Bals again until this year, despite my love for the designs.

I am so disappointed, but I feel like returning the bag is my only choice. And I know for a fact that it is the last one that Nordstrom's has. :noggin:

At least my Sanguine City will not leave me red bag-less, but I think that I will still need a bright red bag...

Phew. That's all I needed to say.

Sorry to hear about your Day, Lo...that stinks!:pout:..but glad you have your City to fill the red need..:smile1:

You're welcome!!! I would say definitely buy from someplace where you can return just in case...I have had to do this a few times and was so glad that I paid a bit extra to buy from a store with a return policy. Vegas is a fantastc place for bag shopping, so have fun. :smile1:

As for the Ruby 08 Day, I returned it today. Nordie's offered to fix it for me for free but I decided not to take them up on the kind offer, though to be honest it killed me to return the bag...I will instead look for a bag that it is better condition from the get-go to avoid potential problems.

I will content myself with the fact that I have TWO new Bals to replace it on the way!!! (Both under retail!!!) :yahoo:

Thanks for your kind words, everyone!

TM - I have that exact Le Pliage (same color and size) and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it, too!! :yahoo:

I discovered LePliage this past spring and now have a large shopper in deep red for work and a smaller Bilberry bag...they immediately became
"go-to" bags for me, and I carry them constantly. They are perfect for bad weather or anytime, as far as I am concerned.

I am probably going to get a Le Pliage messenger bag soon, once I figure out which color to get. If my goal is to get an indestructible, well-priced, simple messenger, I figure a Le Pliage Messenger is a great pick.

(Any color suggestions are welcome, btw).

Thanks!!! :D

I love Sanguine...but I still am on the hunt for a "bright" red Bal, me thinks - either something in Sang (which is so hard to find, it's sold out everywhere) or Ruby, if I can get a Ruby bag without a problem handle in great condition.

Lo, I have a Le Pliage flap messenger in royal blue. Love that bag! It's a little small for me most days...I love big bags so I wish they made a larger version.

You can see it at the far right of my Le Pliage collection here:

Thanks so much for posting this pic, doreen!!! It's very helpful - the messenger doesn't look too small for my needs at all, in fact - I tend not to carry much. Your Le Pliage collection is fantastic - I have some of the matching cosmetics cases and the coin purse, too - I use them in all of my bags and they are the best.

You also gave me a great idea. I am going to get my mom a LePliage set (bag, cosmetics pouch, and coin purse) for her upcoming birthday. She likes simple, classic items and needs something something lightweight because of a shoulder problem. It is perfect for her! :yahoo:

Thank you. :D

Yes, please keep us updated, platinum_girly! And I wish you much luck - it is not always easy to be patient with sales (or with finding the exact bag you want, for that matter) but it is well worth the trouble.

We are here for moral support!! (And to drool over your pics once you get the bag you want, lol). ;)
