I don't want to reduce down to a small collection - while I applaud those who can easily carry 3-4 bags, they aren't me.
I just want to reduce to a mind-full collection. I want bags I love and carry every day - not just ones that seemed like a good idea at the time.

I like that "mind-full collection" that works for me! I think i can do that now. I can't remember the last time I had 3 bags either. I've been purging so much other stuff out of my house lately, the only thing left are purses! I don't think Lo realizes what she started here. But I'm grateful to her (thank you LO!) for it. It has really gotten me to stop and think.:smile1:

Good job with the pics! Taking pics is always the hardest part for me... the lighting, the positioning, etc is so tedious. Once you've done that, the listing is so much easier! Did you list them yet?? Do it, do it!!

And Lo, I saw the pic of a bayswater.... very classy!! I think you made a great choice. Can't wait to see the pics... I want to see this deep gorgeous red.

However, what you said is so right- limits can also be oppressive.

Did some reflecting....(this purse thing is eye-opening) and saw where bad feelings over buying nice purses may have originated from...

Both parents, in their own way, always put people down for their nice purchases...like the neighbors new Mercedes, or my mom's friends D & B bags, etc. etc. (They put them down in private, to us). Acted like they were better than everybody else if they didn't spend any $ on stuff.
Secondly, even as a little girl I loved accessorizing!! Like 7 years old, lol. My mom would yell at me and say, "What, you think you're a fashion plate?"

My answer was, what's a fashion plate? lol

Anyway, I can see where it comes from, now to let it go.

No worries, gratefull! Everyone is welcome here and I think it's wonderful that you are trying to be mindful of what you are doing with your collection so quickly after joining TPF! And I also think that your observations about your parents are helpful - I grew up in a home full of immigrants in which one of my parents was an almost obsessive saver, while the other was a compulsive spender. This caused a lot of conflict, and have made me realize that perhaps the best approach to finances is somewhere in between. :smile1:

Sure, send it over!! :p I can always use some more china in my accident prone home.... Even better for you since it's from your husbands previous marriage! You definitely need to get rid of that.

Congrats!! so glad you were able to sell something so quickly... it hurts to let it go(seperation anxiety) but it feels so good once it's gone. If you weren't using it a lot before, you won't feel it that much later. I keep finding more bags that I can sell... I've kept some for sentimental reasons, but I think I'm over the sentiments now. Time to move on!

I've realized with the extra funds that I can now update my collection with newer season bags... which is kinda nice. I felt sometimes when too many old bags hang around, it kinda gave my collection a "stale" feeling... now it feels fresh and newer, kwim?

After following this thread and assessing and re-assessing my purse collection, I've decided to go ahead and reduce my collection as well in favor of one or two better-quality bags. I've always felt like I had too many bags to really use any one of them, but I just felt too attached to the ones I had and was always tempted by new bags-- I was one of those to have multiples of several different bags. I'm currently in the process of selling off about two-thirds of my collection (about half way through) and have already replaced them with a fabulous YSL!

Thanks for the inspiration and "push", Lo! I'm already feeling better about the whole situation!
