I'm enjoying this thread!

Want to know: Does the YSL Easy fit over the shoulder? I guess I'm asking about the medium. And: is the small, too small?

Lo, you MUST post pix please! You take such great pix.
One of my keepers is the BE TME Midi in black pebble. Such a great slouchy bag.
I have an Oak Bayswater that is also a classic.
But I'm eyeing YSL...and Lanvin, whose prices are insane. Only on sale for Lanvin.

Wow Lo, you are inspiring many forum members to purge their handbag collection. This is one of the best threads I've seen in a while and that's why I keep coming back myself! You've even got me thinking of selling to fund a dream Chanel. This has got me now purging my clothes (again). I used to consign but now I give my sister in law stuff that I don't want....since she had my neice, she hasn't been shopping for herself. Plus it makes me feel good to help her out! I'm going to be a lot picker with what I buy from now on....my new motto is 'less is more' and I'm going to stick to it! :)

Wow...what a compliment, Antonia!! :shame:

Why not purge to get that dream Chanel? Life is short...go for it!!! :yahoo:

And that's so cool that you give your SIL your things. I have a system that I go through about twice a year in which I clean out my closets (and have my SO clean out his :p), and we take all of our unwanted items and donate/sell on *bay or Bonanzle/Consign everything. At this point all of my clothing fits in a small coat closet (our townhouse is very old) plus a few drawers with a bit of room left over. I find it much easier to get dressed when I have less! And I like what I own more than ever...with every season that passes, I have less items to get rid of, with the exception of clothing that is just too worn out to keep anymore for anything but cleaning the house or painting.

You know, if you think about it, selling/donating your unused or unwanted items is actually not just a kind act or a way to offer someone else a bargain while making a bit of $ yourself, it's also environmentally responsible. :smile1:

It's a win-win, as far as I am concerned.

Now exactly which Chanel are you after????? (I love to live people's bag fantasies with them!!!) :lawl:

PS: I saw the Red Stam at Nordie's in person and just about passed out, it's truly beautiful. :faint: Enjoy it to the max!!!

Hey TG!!! :D Here's what I have learned from my research: The YSL Medium Easy (it used to be called the Large, but now it's just the Medium, and no large is for sale in the current collection) does fit over the shoulder.

And the small does seem a bit too snug to use over the shoulder comfortably, but it is very roomy inside. Check out this thread, it gives you a very clear idea of what fits inside a small Easy:

I will most likely keep my BE LM Midi (the perfect size for me), and maybe one day get a Mulberry...the Oak color is beautiful!!

I am afraid of Lanvin, though. :lawl:

And I promise to post lots of pics once I get my mitts on a red Easy. :graucho: (Hopefully soon!!!!)

The easy does fit over the shoulder... I saw one while at Saks recently and it fit like a charm. Keep in mind it does have a structured base.

Loquita, I'm enjoying this thread as well.... you're one of the main reasons I decided to get that YSL!! Closet purge is in progress now....

This is such a fun thread to read! I don't have an HG bag at the moment, but this month (maybe next weekend) I'll be consigning two bags in an effort to streamline my collection. I'd love to invest in some class bags at some point, like a Chanel flap, but they wouldn't suit my lifestyle right now so I'll wait. :)

Sounds great, everyone! :yahoo: It's so liberating to finally figure out what works for you and just go for it.

And thithi dear: you never did tell me exactly which Easy you got!!! Did you get the one with the zippers or the studs? Which color? Details, details!!!

I am dying to see it.

My problem: I do change my bags every day. When I had back problems last year, I streamlined what I kept in my handbag - (Who really needs a full manicure kit, really? And do you need a poncho in your bag when the forcast is sunny?) And so all I have is a pen, wallet, sunglasses, PM agenda, and keyring.
So my optimal bag collection is easily in the 20 bag range.

But I love this thread, and after reading it through, I'm incredibly tempted to go through my closet and have a purge anyways!

I actually change my bag out every 1-3 days as well, so this makes me wonder how I will do with a collection of 2-3 bags, tops. :thinkin:
(I usually have around 10).

But in the end, if you enjoy and use all of your bags and it works for you, then that's what's most important.

Lol! You should have a talk with my mom she thinks that I shop wayy too much and she hates my bag addiction! :shame:

BTW which bag did you decide on?

Join the club! My SO HATES my bag addiction, truly loathes it. :lawl:

As for my new bag collection, I have decided on the following:

- YSL Black Zip Hobo (already found one NWT at 50% on *bay...should be here tomorrow!!! :yahoo:)
- YSL Red Patent Medium Easy Bag (am stalking one on *bay & am waiting on some more pics from seller) OR
- YSL Patent Medium Tribute Tote (stalking a few of these in various brught colors as well...and also waiting on seller pics!)

And the other bag is still up in the air. I think that my second bag will be patent leather, since YSL patents are so good and I need a bag that can handle the sloppy New England weather. I am leaning towards a Mulberry Alexa at the moment, but I would wait on that bag for a good while regardless since the colors they are releasing this season don't work for me.

So that would be 3 bags total. Or maybe I will just stick with 2...but having all my bags coming from the same designer makes me nervous. (Been there, done that, don't like it). :p

Yeah, my SO is ok with my bag addiction. He thinks its really expensive and I recently feel in love with Chanel so he feels -> :faint:

I love patent leather but the best color for patent is black IMO, or another darker color. The patent can sometimes absorb stains and they do not come out. Its nice that you're getting a few bags...I thought the name of the thread was "Ever purged your collection in pursuit of one bag?" Lol :graucho:

Loquita... I am utterly shocked!

I am very happy that you have decided to purge your collection to get what you really love.:woohoo:

I love my small collection (around 8 bags, slgs and clutches dont count, right:supacool:) and i have run out of bags to sell.

My 2010 resolution is to focus on superb bags instead of spending all of my money on bargains and small leather goods, which make me happy, but prevent me from getting classier styles. I get much more joy out of high-end brands like Chloe and BV than lesser brands which dont make me feel wow. I know, i must be really superficial...

A few weeks ago i took the plunge and got a beautiful Chanel flap :cloud9:which is on a lengthy layaway and will help me avoid new purchases. Watch this space!

Best of luck... I hope your first bag is there before your birthday... :smooch:

I love your idea of only three bags. I don't think I could do that though. I have to change from cross body to hand held to shoulder bags to keep my back and shoulders from hurting. Then I like to have them in more then one color choice each. I have been reading your thread and purged a few of my less used bags.

Well, I've lusted after the expandable flap for a while so I'm on the hunt for that. I'm thinking of either doing the layaway thing, or sell my Bal to help fund it. The Bal doesn't get used much because I'm very careful with my bags and due to the delicate leather, I'm afraid to use it on a daily basis. I've had it almost 2 years now and maybe used it 10 days total. I don't want to deter anyone else from lusting after their dream Bal. I know that if I didn't have one in my collection, I'd want one, but now that I have one I can't enjoy it. If I ever get another one it will be black or brown so that I don't have to stress about it-lol!!

I do love my Stam-when I look up on the handbag shelf, it stands out next to all the others, like Emeril says "Bam"-a pop of color! I will enjoy it to the max!! :yahoo: It's snowing where I am right now so maybe I'll do an updated handbag collection photo. I can't go anywhere (well, I probably can but don't want to) so I'll be doing laundry today, but that would be something fun to do.:D
