I'm down to 2--one daily (RM BBW) and one "rainy day" (which I'm contemplating giving away--it's a Coach outlet bag). I had started a wish-list again of bags (and even started a buy/return cycle last month--bought and returned maybe 5 bags--lots and lots of stress in my life at the time).

I thought I had to have all these bags and I'm frankly really nauseated by the whole thing right now....most people get that "must dump everything" mindset in the spring but mine hits periodically (usually every 3 months or so). It's come around again!

I'm gonna burn the want list and give that last bag away to a friend. (She deserves it anyway, the last purse I gave her (also Coach) got STOLEN OUT OF HER LIVING ROOM WHILE THE FAMILY WAS ASLEEP UPSTAIRS two weeks ago so maybe second time is a charm??)

Thanks for the thread revival! With all the reveals and chat on this forum it's hard to remember that I really don't need anymore stuff.

Wow! Only two bags? That's really impressive. I am quite sure I could never get to that point but I do remain firmly in the single digit category. How do you feel now that you only carry one great bag? Do you feel like your mind is free to think about other things or do you miss having options?

Good for you! I'm sure your friend will appreciate your kindness. That must have been terrifying for her and her family when she realized someone had been in the house while they were sleeping. Scary.

I am trying to purge/rehome my bags to get down to twelve that I use, but in this economy it seems impossible. I have tried evilbay/bonanza without luck. Only rehomed two. For those of you that have sold off your bags recently how/where have you sold them. My bags are in mint/very little use and they are all lovely but I can't seem to sell them. I have only sold two.

I am purging my collection and will only keep a few Balenciagas and Coach bags that I really love. Any help/advice is much appreciated.

*sigh* it has been difficult. I used evilbay for all of mine, and on a couple I had to let them go for less than I had hoped. Since most of what I sold was Coach, I have found that the things that seem to sell the the easiest are Coach signature items... mainly bags... not so much accessories. Anything other than that I had to either wait awhile, or sell for less than I originally wanted, or both. And I definitely am not a patient person.

No, unfortunately, my mind is just as focused on the next best bag as ever. It's tiresome.

I do wish for more variety but when I have too many bags I get depressed and feel fat. (Is that a weird thing? It's like over-eating desserts for me...too much stuff makes my face break out and I can't get into my jeans).

So, in that way, it's great to just have this RM BBW which I am BEATING the HECK out of...and it's taking it! I don't have to worry about rain or bumping into things or denim transfer.

I'm going to try to just have this one for the fall/winter and then see about a new spring bag.

Yes! I sold 7 Rebecca Minkoffs (except for 1) to buy my Chloe Paraty which I still absolutely love so much & think I will love forever....I did miss my Rebecca Minkoff Nikki hobos, so I bought one wine nikki off Bonanza & I love that one so much too!

I now refuse to buy multiple bags in different colors. I got carried away before. I now own 5 bags total. Rebecca Minkoff Nikki hobo in wine, Rebecca Minkoff MAM in verdes (sample sale bag), Chloe paraty in caramel, Coach Maggie in black with brass hw (bought today!) & Coach bridle bag espresso color, made in Italy (1998) that I won at a school fundraiser. I am so happy with my bag collection now!

Recently, in the last month I have started to purge my bag collection. The weird thing is that I didn't even have that many bags to start off with. I only had 5 - 3 LV's (Ebene, Eva, Ebene Thames GM and Epi Speedy 30 in Cassis) as well as my MBMJ Faridah Hobo and my MBMJ Natasha crossbody both of which are black. I'm in the process of selling all of my LV's and only have 1 left to sell. I feel very relieved to go back to 2 bags. My MBMJ hobo will be my every day bag and my crossbody will be my handsfree and nights out on the town bag. Eventually when I need to buy a new bag I'll probably look at brands like Balenciaga and Bottega Veneta. They seem to be more subtle. I love their leather as well. It's cool that most Balenciaga bags can be carried 3 ways - on the shoulder, crossbody and on the crook of the arm.

I still enjoy looking at different brands but I'm definitely not the type that can rotate 5 bags even if they are different styles on a consistent basis. Both my MBMJ bags are just wayyy more comfortable and reliable. I don't have to worry about them and the leather is amazing. I liked the LV bags that I got but IMO they weren't convenient go-to bags. I'm definitely not into carry bags by the hand so I don't know why I got the Speedy in the first place. I also find it to be bulky. I really really really love the Cassis colour and it's hard to see it go but I rather have the money in my account for savings and vacations. I've found ones experiences are far more important to me. As for the Eva - I just wish it was bigger diameter wise. Sometimes I found it hard to put a bunch of small things inside and they would have to be positioned in such a way. The shoulder strap was wayyy too long for my 5' 2" frame. Eventually I opted to used my MBMJ Natasha for nights out. With the Thames, I always chose my MBMJ hobo over the Thames.

Through this experience, I have found that less is more! As mentioned I still like to look at bags but I will always go for brand that is descreet. I felt my LV's were bought through subconscious peer pressure at work even though the 2 co-workers that had them didn't force me to buy them; I just liked the way they looked and thought that they would suit me. Boy! Was I wrong!

Definitely--
I LOVE the Trevi, but don't think she's for me.
There's something odd and stiff about her. :(

Will forever keep my Galliera GM and Watercolor Speedy in Brown.

I'm selling my LV agenda, the Trevi and two COACH bags all for a LG Chloe "Marcie"!

I have 7 "everyday" bags (plus a few evening clutches) and I find that I only use about 3 of them. The best thing about it is that I don't take time to transfer my things from bag to bag everyday if I had more to choose from. I would like to sell some of the ones I don't use but they all have sentimental value. So now I'm thinking of selling some shoes instead.

I am so happy that I found this thread!! It's been the inspiration I needed to start my biggest purge to date. I've always tried to follow a "one in, one out" approach to my bags (and generally "one bag per colour" rule as well), but reading everyone's posts here, I've decided to seriously downsize my collection (which is pretty small by most tPF standards), and pursue the bags on my dream wishlist. I'm selling a couple of Coaches, a MbMJ, as well as a bunch of other lesser brands. I cheated a little, and gave away one of my Kate Spades to my mom - couldn't bear to have it leave the family, LOL! In the meantime, I finally took the plunge and bought a Mulberry Alexa ... it's on its way!!!! So excited!! That leaves a YSL Muse Two, and my ultimate dream bag - a Chanel flap/2.55 bag - to go!!

I am also thinking about doing the same with the rest of my closet. It feels so good!

It's been easy for me to purge my bags in pursuit of the one designer that I consider my signature. I think once I got the bag/s I truly loved, I haven't had the inclination to spend anymore $$$ on my bag collection. Maybe 1 or 2 inexpensive totes every several months, and that is a real drop in the number of bags and overall expense.
