I just can't do it. I choose my bags very carefully and each one is very loved. Now some may not have been carried in over a year but it doesn't mean I don't love them.

I just can't do it, lol.

I have! I sold 6 Rebecca Minkoffs to buy a Chloe paraty & I am very happy. My RMs sold very fast too. All were initially purchased either on sale or on Bonanza so I broke even with my sales which was nice. I bought too many of the same bags - 3 nikkis, 3 mac clutches, 2 mams, etc (many sat unused - a few carried only a few weeks)....So now I have 2 beautiful RMs - Wine Nikki hobo & Verdes MAM. I use my Chloe & my other bags all the time. Sometimes I miss my Fawn & Noir RM Nikki hobos - but the Wine Nikki makes up for it!

Well, I'm currently battling a decision on whether or not to sell a couple of bags that I love but do not carry. They are beautiful and do fit into my lifestyle at times but they just don't get used much. Part of me wants to sell them and be done with it but the other part of me realizes that I have really scaled back a lot already and not to get too crazy.

Over the last year or so, I've sold several bags and have put the funds into a couple of BE bags that I adore. So, it's not that I really HAVE to sell them but sometimes I look at them wonder if it's best to keep them or let them go.

I'm usually not too sentimental about this stuff, so this has me stumped. Both are bags I know would be very hard for me to find again, if ever...

I recently decided to sell a Ferragamo bag that I love love love but have never used. It took me ages to find it and I know I could never find it again, but to me it's more important to have minimal possessions than to own things I don't use.

It's a bag, not a work of art...it does me no good if all I do is look at it. Does that make sense, or am I going off the deep end with "de-cluttering?"

Yes, it does... I have used them but not very often. I'm thinking maybe I will carry them again for a bit and see how I feel. I'm usually pretty good at this decluttering business, but in this case, I'm having a little trouble taking my own advice.

Today I find myself missing an LV I sold a couple of years ago......and it will be very difficult to find this bag again.

I wonder about this. I usually sell bags once I realize they don't work for me so I don't really miss it once it's gone. The issue now is that these two really do fit my taste and lifestyle. I've just been carrying one bag for a long time and so now I'm thinking that I may need even fewer than I previously thought.

Maybe I need to switch things up a bit and see what happens.

One thing I have learned about this whole process is don't sell something immediately. Wait a few months to decide as I regret getting rid of a Mulberry bag which is now discontinued.

How's Loquita's collection coming along?

I am very very slowly purging. I started back at the beginning of this year, and I've gotten rid of at least one bag a month. Most came from the "box of bags I need to find out if I have separation anxiety from getting rid of" but a few came out of the cabinet and to the consignment shop.

I am consigning the bags I want to get rid of, rather than ebay or gifting. (because my mother doesn't want my clutter, but feels obliged to hold onto it, incase I regret something... She deserves better)

You know, I don't regret anything. Granted, I have plenty of time for contemplation. But still, I barely notice when some bags are gone.

I have a plastic garbage bag filled with over ten bags (honestly not sure how many) that I plan on taking to Goodwill. I can't stand dealing with eBay any more, and frankly, I'm fortunate enough to own the beautiful bags I do without profiting off the ones of which I've tired - I'd rather they go to somebody less fortunate than I.

Still have a rather full bag wardrobe, but it's a good start!

Well, I carried one of the bags I was considering selling and have decided to keep it. I think the issue is that it is better for winter months, and living in Texas, we just don't get much winter! Still, it is the only larger crossbody style I have and it's all about the long strap for me, especially when taking kids to sporting events, etc. I really do love the bag and do use it, but mostly only during a few months.

I've also scaled down to the point where the ones I have left really do get used more often because now I only have a few to choose from (except for a few Longchamp as well).

Carrying a bag you're considering is always a great way to decide if you're ready to part with it. Nine times out of ten, for me, I end up selling them, but this time, I'm going to use it an enjoy it.

I will say that if you purge TOO much for your own personality, you may want to fill the need again with something new. For me, I need single digits in bags, a few SLGs and I'm good. I'd like to be one of those people that can own two bags but I know my personality. I enjoy simplicity and hate clutter but still like a bit of variety, so that's the balance for me.
