i just recently sold one LV, Burberry to buy my first balenciaga. I received it 2 days ago but is doubting it's authenticity. Bought it from a friend's friend who claims that it is authentic. I trust her 100% but I don't know the owner of the bag I bought it from. I'm new to the purse forum and new to Balenciaga but is totally in love with the bag.....

WElcome to the forum! If you go to the top of the forum, you'll see a link titled Forum Jump. Click it, then choose the AUTHENTICATE link to jump to the bag authentication forum. In there, you can create a thread showing photos of the bag and asking if it's authentic. I'll hope for the best.

I went ahead and posted pic on the thread for authentication. Pls visit and check out for me. Thanks!

I've been purging my collection lately, sold 5 Balencigas, 1 Vintage Black Jumbo Chanel Lamb Flap, 1 Black Hermes Evelyne & almost new black LV Epi Speedy 30 because i need to downsize, too many black bags & try other brands such as Celine & PS1. The good thing is, all my bags sold fast & got if not all my money bag, my Chanel made $1K profit. I know i need to purge some more, but i love what i have left for now. I'm looking forward to add 1 PS1 Medium bag, the new stunning Red from Fall 2011 line Bal City & just bought a Celine Cabas & a gorgeous Bal 07 Mogano City that is so hard to find.

I know this bag thing is crazy, but i don't splurge on anything else. They make me happy & for sure upgrade my wardrobe anytime.

In the process of purging now... Not for one bag but to keep my collection down to only what I love and will use often. May I ask how you sold your bags and how long it took? eBay and Bonanza are just taking too long so I've moved onto consignment but I can't imagine I'd make much money back...

I don't missed the bags that I sold but I don't use the bag that I purchased much... it is so expensive and not practical for me, Mahina XL Bronz. I cannot chase my kids with that bag hanging on my shoulder. I hardly carry that much stuff without my kids. It is TDF but so sad that it sits in the closet.

That is why, as much as I want a Hermes (in any design,) I haven't sell to fund a H bag because the beautiful H bag would be sitting in the closet just like my Mahina.

Well, I think it really all depends on the demand on the kind of bags that you're selling. If they're HOT, hard to find combos, it doesn't matter where you sell them, they'll sell pretty fast & you'll get a good return. A very important advise I can give you if you're selling a high end bag on Ebay or Bonz, make sure to take good pictures, as many as you can, esp the important details of the bag for authentication. A good camera is a good investment for best presentation of your bag. I toss my old SONY w/ only 3MP that I've been using & decided to buy an upgrade, still affordable 12MP Canon Digital camera. BIG difference in pictures, very sharp details, the color came up like the actual bag right in front of you, just gorgeous! Because of my new camera, I made $1K more than I payed for my Vintage Chanel& I got all my money back if not a bit more on my Bals, honestly! I SWEAR!

I sold the HOT, on demand items on Ebay & Bonz. I did Consignments (RDC) for trade if I find some other color Balenciagas that I'm looking for.

Goodluck!

imlvholic, thanks for the great tips and encouragement! I do have a DSLR that I haven't quite learned to use yet but even on auto it takes better pictures than my old camera. Will stick to it and hope to clear out my unused bags soon. It will be so nice to get more closet space too :p

I think it really does depend on what you're selling and when, but I recently sold a couple of bags that aren't considered high end but still was able to get a fair amount for them (gently carried). In the past, I've often donated my inexpensive bags and sometimes I still do (just did this a couple of weeks ago) but I decided to sell a couple that weren't worth a lot (in the $100 or so range) and was surprised to see them snatched up in a few day's time. Of course, I only got about 50% of the original purchase price but I had carried them and owned them for awhile and was glad to get part of it back. It really does add up.

What I would say is that it's important to take REALLY GOOD photos, give detailed descriptions and answer questions promptly. I also tend to 'batch' my work, so I take all photos at one time and write all the descriptions at one time. Getting that flow makes it easier to finish the job and list. I personally don't like getting started but I do enjoy cleaning out my closet and getting a bit of money back.

In terms of purging bags, I realized that my taste really has changed over the last couple of years and so have my preferences. So, this meant selling off a few bags I thought I'd always keep. Now I've decided that I'd really rather have a few fantastic leather bags (satchel, hobo, crossbody) and my Longchamp bags. Before, I had several function and just 'ok' bags and now I prefer to keep only what I truly love carrying. Doesn't mean they are high end or really expensive, but just that I really love them.

Now that I've gotten started again, I may just get a bit more ruthless and sell a bit more. Ideally, I'd love to be a 5 bag person but my number is probably closer to 8. I'm a few over that right now.

Anyone else have updates?:p

Good to see this thread bumped again!

I'm still at 5 bags, though I have added one clutch over the past year. I'm really happy having a lean & mean collection that gets a lot of use. Too many bag choices feels wasteful and overwhelming. Which reminds me, I have to go change bags for the morning....

i just got rid of quite a few bags and am now left with 6 or 7- i sold just about all of them through yoogies closet. what i love about them is the fact that they pay for your shipments to them, which can amount to quite a bit especially when they are insured. so the savings is wonderful...also, i think my bags sell at a pretty good rate and fairly quickly...
