Its about quality and not quantity so I will sell sell sell and get the best!

This quote is so true!!

At the moment I have just cleared/cleaned the shelf in my wardrobe ready for my new bags to arrive. I have just purchased a Padovano quilted leather bag in chocolate. Its the most expensive bag I have owned to date and set me back £400. The leather is gorgeous, its a classic style so I know I will get my use out of it.

I wouldn't say that I sold my "old collection" to fund the new collection. But once, you start with the prieming designer, you will carry the other much less.

I don't want to sound like snob and I am not. It is just my experience.

So I used to have probably 20 coach bags, and I sold most of them for cheap ($20-$50 per bag) just to make room for my LV collection. Now, I am down to 5 seasonal/LE pieces that I just love and some SLG (because they are cute with no resale value.) I use the Coach on raining days when I don't dare to take my LVs out.

So sell what you have to fund the new bag, because you will be selling them eventually. I am sure, one day, I will be selling my LV to make room for some "H" additions. :graucho:

I’ve been thinking about bans/purging a lot. I’m getting ready to move, and am really excited. Since I moved less than a year ago, the unpacking/packing is fresh in my mind, and I’m ready to have less – plus I’m putting money aside for things for the new place, since this will be the first time I’ll have my own place. DBF will be moving in once his lease ends, and I’m very conscious of all the “stuff” I have in comparison to his more spartan living. I’d like us to have a nice clean living space.

I’m setting savings goals and spending limits for 2011 and tracking my money on Mint, which DBF also uses. While I don’t have debt, I feel like I spend more than I should – like on eating out – and I want to work on this.

I’ve basically stopped my impulse buys – with a notable exception (http://forum.purseblog.com/ebay-for...ck-balenciaga-city-bonanzle-499-a-645487.html). Now I’ll think of this every time I start to make an impulse purchase. I still get urges to buy, but mostly when I’m bored or stressed.

For a couple of months now, I’ve pretty much only been using my Bal velo. Perhaps I’ve found my bag soulmate? I do have 2 bags on my wishlist but am not going to rush into anything, especially since I haven’t been changing bags anyway. I also want to get away from the idea that money made from selling bags should go towards funding new bags – it encourages me to continue the buying/selling cycle. But sometimes I feel like that is my only motivation to purge. Here’s hoping the move is motivation enough!

I'm so sorry that happened to you thedseer! I really hope things get sorted out and you get your money back. Stories like these really deter me from buying from Bonz and especially fleabay. But it's so hard to resist a great deal.

I have not purged yet, I must admit my new designer bag hobby is pretty recent but at the same time I feel that I am getting my bags to enjoy them and not to sell them and lose money on them. At the momentI also feel that I would not want to sell my 5 bags for 1 because if I had the 1 superexpensive bag I could not enjoy it at all because I would always worry about it and besides is 1 bag really enough? I prefer having different colors to use with different outfits and also need day/evening etc. This is how I feel at the moment who knows it may change later. I definitely have wondered if I got the wrong bags and should have gotten different ones:))) there is always one that is better but anyhow definitely newer...

This year I bought the majority of my collection and I plan to use them next year as I am actually quite content with my stash. However, I plan to weed out the ones I don't use so much (CB Papillon, Twin Pochette PM) and maybe a few others and help my husband with his Harley Davidson fund:) In the end its all about recycling!

Well after dithering about it over the past year, (and shopping while dithering) I made my first baby step. I took six bags into the local consignment shop last week, and I have another six to take in tomorrow. It's not everything - but its a step in the right direction.

Congrats, Vintage! It sounds like you've made some great progress. How are you feeling about it? What was the turning point for you in pushing you to take this step?:smile1:

Hey everyone! I've been researching selling my YSL RG which is in mint condition, ('cause I hardly ever wear it) on ebay but can't. (I never use that word, as I don't believe in it), however, I have zero experience in either buying or selling on there and am afraid of getting taken. I am looking into a consignment shop but it looks like they take 30% right off the top. Any suggestions from you savvy pf'ers?
