Okay, upsetting update, so sorry if this is a crap post but just need to vent...
So after giving away a couple of my Chanel bags and hoping to get 2 classic bags this year to replace them, we (me and my husband) came up against finiancial difficulty,
Sooo it doesn't look like i will be getting my first bag anytime soon,
It sounds RIDICULOUS to be upset over such a trivial thing but i honestly sat down and cried today, now whether that was more to do with not being able to afford a new bag and that "fix" or just the financial worry in general (and boy do i feel silly telling you all) but isn't it strange that something so small can seem like the end of the world? especially when you just can't help yourself looking at others reveals which in turn just makes you feel worse...
Anyway - thanks to anyone who has read and not judged, it means a lot :)

Hugs, sweetie. I understand this too. I was like this when my DH got laid off last year. I think it's a natural reaction to the whole situation, especially if you had plans that are now postponed. Do you still have one bag that you still love?

Thanks ladies for all your support and kind words, it means a lot :D

Erm as for bags, well i am now down to owning only a vintage black Chanel (that got scuffed at the corners last time i used it so am too scared to use it again yet until i can see if i can get it repaired) and my Juicy couture daydreamer tote, which as i am sure you can imagine only really works with certain casual outfits :sad:

I understand. It's probably more about being disappointed, and feeling "controlled" by finances than the actual loss/postponement of the bag.

I find myself at a point where I am really thinking over each purchase. In general, I have to talk myself into each purchase as opposed to out of each purchase like before.

This is the story of my life! I used to have a really hard time saying "no" to buying pretty much anything and everything...bags, wallets, magazines, movies, books, etc. Now, it's painful for me to spend unless it's like food or a necessity such as shampoo or makeup remover.

I have to say, I am much happier now overall than I was when I was all about "BUY BUY BUY!!!!" I don't spend huge chunks of my time thinking about what bag to purchase next or what outfits to get. I'm perfectly happy with the stuff I already own. I even find it difficult to switch into different bags or wristlets...like when I get into something I like, I don't want to let it go! I was very quick to change things up before...I feel like I missed out on the joy of owning some of the bags that got rotated out so quickly.

I also feel that having had so many different bags takes away the "specialness" of them in general. I want to get back to the days when getting a new purse was an infrequent thing and was really exciting!

i need to remember this thanks for posting it  recently i keep thinking back previously i was absolutely happy with 1 bag/ year so how did it become 3 bags/month and still looking for more :faint:

I am really happy that you feel like you can post here and not feel judged - like the others, I don't think that you are being silly at all by being upset about this, much less so for admitting it.

Sure, in the grand scheme of things it may be trivial matter, but that doesn't mean that having your plans to treat yourself put off hurts any less...we all need to take care of and pamper ourselves sometimes, and financial stress is always scary. I have been in your exact situation myself and I definitely sympathize. :hugs:

Please let us know if we can help you brainstorm creative solutions, ok? That's part of what we are here for! ;)

I'm just popping in to say hello and a big THANK YOU for all who has posted in this thread. The stories and people here have been such a huge inspiration for myself. Keep it up everyone! You're doing great!

You are so sweet to post this!!! :hugs:

Speaking for myself, this thread keeps me on the "straight and narrow" in many ways - it's a constant reminder that less is more (and that what constitutes "less" for each of us is a very individual decision). :smile1:

I can honestly say that the posts here have shaped my spending habits all around, in fact. (No mean feat).

Loquita, did you ever show us your new purchases, specifically the Bal Sanguine?

Hey there!

I am sorry everyone that I have been a bit MIA lately - I have been dealing with A LOT of work drama in the last 3-4 weeks. To make a long story short:

- I was very fortunate to be offered a position elsewhere, which I ultimately declined but it did enable me to renegotiate my current contract (which took weeks, but was well worth it - I am happy and quite lucky)
- Our wonderful administrative assistant left us rather suddenly last week, in the middle of the busiest (let's just call it what it is: hellish) part of the academic year, with several major events in the middle of planning...
- Now guess who is doing much of her job (and mine???)

Yeah. Now you know. :pout:

I have no time to breathe lately.

I DID however finally take some pics of my bags, and will post a link to them ASAP (as in tonight or tomorrow at the latest). :smile1:

I am extremely pleased with my choices. :yahoo:

Thanks for your kindness!!!!
