Did you start having the issues after you got the first set? I guess I'm confused as to why you still wear diamonds at all if you object to them for political reasons.
My friends that object don't wear any, and in fact mostly won't wear CZ as they say it contributes to the 'problem' since people think the CZ is diamonds.
Not trying to pick at you, just curious.
Before I got my earrings, I got concerned because one of those friends (who don't wear diamonds for political reasons) told me that diamonds came from countries where they exploited people and cut off little children's hands. I got very upset as I would never want to support such things. I looked it all up and felt comfortable after I did with the Kimberley accords and bought a new pair of diamonds for my earrings through a company that is socially responsible.
Afterwards, I learned that many African economies run legitimately on diamonds and that if people boycott them, then the populations suffers because that is their export. But then, I learned that there can be trouble enforcing the Kimberley accords and that people lie. so it seems like a complex issue. I can understand that you can come to different conclusions after researching (I wouldn't count watching the movie Blood diamond as research, because its a movie) and think that responsible people can be on either side. Where I am now, I buy estate diamonds (pawn shop) but honestly this also because of prices.
So that's where I come from and I don't want to thread jack but I was just honestly wondering about the reasons behind your particular choices. I am being nosy of course and you don't have to justify.
Actually when I got the first set I wasn't really aware of the whole diamond issue so that is why. AND that set came froom Leroys jewelers who only purchases diamonds through the Kimberley process. They do say their diamonds are conflict free BUT who really knows.
I don't feel I need to justify myself so I will leave it at that and this isn't really the place to do it.
