Hahaha really?? I have never seen that on any of my friend's moms...and my mom doesn't even own an e-ring, only a wedding band that matches my dad's. It's hammered silver with a leaf-y like design (not that flowery as it is the same on my dad hehe). Another thing is that she wears her WB on her right hand and my dad wears his on his left. Has anyone else noticed that cultural difference?

Hehe, maybe it's just my mom and whoops' mom. My DF's mom's ring upgraded to a diamond solitaire on a pave setting a few years ago and I don't know what his aunts and my aunts have, but I don't remember a lot of baguettes either. My mom actually doesn't wear her e-ring (in fact she didn't even have an e-ring in the beginning, the baguette ring was bought later). She keeps it in a safe. She doesn't even wear her wedding band, nor does my dad! Since I got my ring, my mom has shown some interest in jewelry and my dad has insisted that he buy her an upgrade, but she refuses. She's just not that into jewelry!

Both of my parents have never worn a wedding band. Ever. It's weird but I guess that's what suites them. My mom only wears her engagement ring. Her hands are so small I doubt it even has room for a wedding band because the engagement ring took up so much space!

As for the ring on the right hand, my friend is Indonesian and she does he same thing. Her husband on left and hers on right hand. She said that's how he told her to wear it and she never questioned it. I guess it's how he was taught and she tried to move it to the left hand but then he got mad and told her to move it back

Omg! When I first saw the Tiffany yellow diamonds it was over! I even remember saying "I dont care what size, shape, whatever! I just want it yellow" when I first saw them! Then Heidi Klum got hers and I died all over again! But then the price just was too much for what I wanted and DF liked the traditional white but we were so tempted! Yellow is one of his favorite colors. I would have gotten a yellow diamond on YG solitaire... Yum!

You lucky girl with your yellow diamond! It's my favorite over pink and blue colored diamonds. And tiffanys yellow is extraordinary! I'll be dreaming of a yellow diamond pear tonight...

LOL, keep an eye out for Jen's pear pendant! Everytime I look at your ring, I wonder if I made the right choice and whether I should have gone the colorless diamond route. I could've gotten a bigger, colorless diamond for less somewhere else! But then I look at my ring and I wouldn't have it any other way! But I tell myself that I can always get a colorless diamond as an anni gift a long time from now if I still want one. . .hahaha.

Edit: my friend's BF (soon to be DF) is a HUGE fan of the lakers. . .and wants to give her a yellow and purple diamond ring. . .

Haha okay that is interesting to hear. Maybe there just isn't really as much of a standard when it comes to ring-wearing traditions in Asian cultures? My mom's never been one for bling-y things either, so she always makes fun of me because I'm more like my grandma (her mom) that way!

Edit: Yellow is the best ;) Asian Pride. JK.

 Jen's yellow pear pendant is gorgeous!! I can't wait to see how it actually turns out. I have never been one for yellow because I think it would clash with my yellow skin but like whoops said...drool worthy!! Plus the Tiffany ones posted are just so gorgeous.

Personally though, I think I would just like a big, bright, white diamond :D...if I wanted a colored stone, I'd go aquamarine or tanzanite.

I think you chose very well! The only engagement rings I would consider from Tiffanys is the yellow diamonds. The colorless styles don't wow me as much. It's such a hard fight balancing the 4 Cs. I find that Asian cultures only like to shop in the high color and clarity range. Most of my relatives went D-F Vvs and would sacrifice size over and over again to get it. They are very traditional and were really against my halo saying it killed my centerstone. I also asked if we should have gone with a G and then increased size and they gave me that "ni fung-la" (you crazy) look. They have such high expectations...

I'm even wondering if the whole large huge diamond is a trend.... Maybe not in the US anytime in this century though haha

Oh, I'm very sorry about your divorce.

don't worry it was all for the best. :) I've recently started looking at this section of the forum again to get some inspiration for a RHR with my diamond. After seeing Swanky's ring I think I want a Leon Mege halo (with pink diamonds on the halo) in a micro pave setting.. dainty and cute.

My diamond is 1.51 ct F color and all that (can't remember exactly right now)

anyway I dug up the post where I had posted my ring but sadly I deleted the pics from my photobucket account so I no longer have pics of the ring.

No worries about the pics.

I think re-setting it would be fabulous.

I don't see standards in wearing the rings so much as I've seen strong preferences for quality of the stone itself. Asian cultures puts heavy emphasis on color and clarity and carat size is just a bonus. In hong kong i dont Even think most nice jewelry stores will stock under a G color? Maybe that has changed but I remember the jeweler mentioning the G and H color was harder to sell there. I've also seem strong preferences to RB stones. But maybe that's just my own experience?

Drool! Pink halo on that stone for a RHR!!! Yes please!

yes!! do u think it will look too much like an e-ring? It would be like your lovely ring with a thinner micro pave-d band....

Absolutely not! I believe I've seen someone with that exact ring done by Leon mege with a pink halo on ps. And the color makes it seem less e-ring like and more like a present someone bought to spoil themselves.

yay!! I can't wait to get a quote back from them I just sent them a quote form!!! so excited.

ok back to trends... as u can all see I think Halos will be dated but I can't help to keep loving them!!

Princess Diana's sapphire ring was all the rage 30 years ago, and now Kate wears it. However! I do think if Kate had HER way, she'd be wearing a different e-ring entirely.
I agree. I do think she's more of a classic Emerald Cut or Round Solitaire kinda girl. I feel though like William would be hurt if she didn't wear his mother's ring or favored another design.

Kate got a plain YG band and I wonder if that's the next upcoming W-band style preference.
Well, she got a Welsh gold band which is what all the royals in that house get, Diana and Fergie did also. I wonder if she'll stop wearing the Diana ring soon, and go with just the band or even a diamond band.
