Yep! She was politely trying to tell me that without actually saying it. Ah, us British and our politeness!

So, what do you ladies think of these?

http://goodoldgold.com/diamond/7060 - A little over budget

http://goodoldgold.com/diamond/7633 - I can see inclusions here

http://goodoldgold.com/diamond/7491 - August Vintage

The top one!
Agreed. And it's an ISEE2 diamond--which is AMAZING. That means the light return/optics are going to kick ass. And an H with medium blue flour? *swoon*

Is the first one over budget at creditcard price or bankwire price? Bec you'll save a bit with the bankwire, not a lot but some. Though I guess only a couple hundred. Put it on hold though, seriously. IF you want that, they will work with you on making payments, you can layaway it for a couple months if you must.

I have seen the August Vintage round in person, NOT my cup of tea but my husband was going bonkers trying to convince me. HE loved it.

Couple other options in your budget:

I've just watched the video of the first (over budget) diamond. It does looks amazing! I think I can stretch to that, but it would leave me with about $600 for a setting.

In terms of setting, I like White Gold in that, from the rings I have seen, it seems to be slightly brighter in colour. It would have to be 18K, as she is allergic to lower grades. I could always upgrade the setting for our 1st anniversary :D

I like the classic Solitaire setting, but I want to check other styles before I decide. She would like something that isn't too 'bling', but still stands out.

I really really love this:

Any suggestions?

Good Old Gold has this setting in platinum for $700. Maybe you can negotiate- http://shop.goodoldgold.com/index.cfm/a/catalog.prodshow/vid/46988/catid/162

A lot of jewelers will actually put the stone in a basic white gold solitaire setting for free if you buy the stone from them
A plain white gold solitaire setting costs a jeweler very little.

If she's got any sensitivity towards gold/white gold, get the cheapest platinum setting you can get, and you can upgrade later with her input.

If you can stretch to get that first one you posted, get it because it's amazing. And see if they'll do any work with you on the setting. I prefer a 6prong for a round, as it shows the stone well, keeps the shape looking round and in some cases can make it look bigger overall :)
