I noticed the stone wasn't set properly so I got to get it fixed

sorry for hijacking the thread, good luck finding ur perfect setting!!

My husband and I just went 'WOW' at your ring. What are the stats on it, if you don't mind?

sorry to hijack the thread *blush*

my ring is a 4.75 so this is why the diamond looks so big

it's a 1.51ct F color VS2 very good cut GIA.. not too sure about the setting, but this is the center stone.

it did cost my fh quite some good money. can u believe they had also offered us a 1.71 for CHEAPER than this one?

no prob;)

It is a gorgeous ring!!!

do you have to get a diamond from Helzberg? Can you return it entirely and find another store that can provide you with setting 1 but w/ a bigger stone?

Ditto. I'd look at Pricescope and do a search to see what you can find in your budget and read up on diamonds too if you aren't real familiar w/ the info. I know most chain stores don't have certified stones and if they are, you are likely paying more than if you'd buy online. I would return completely if you can't find something at Helzberg that is certified and not just in store or company graded b/c you don't know what you are really getting.

If you are not 100% happy I would defiantly take the time and research what you want and like others have said possibly purchasing the stone and then picking out a setting. If you don't love the 1st ring because of the size of the diamond, I honestly wouldn't even bother going back to exchange the 2nd ring for the 1st. I would just do the return and have the money back. This is just my honest opinion. Because it defiantly sounds like you plan on returning the ring anyway once you decide what you want to do, so I would just do the return now and not have to worry about it then.

Have you checked bluenile.com for settings? or atleast some ideas so if you find a jeweler who will make you a setting, you have something to show them what you like and are looking for?

http://www.bluenile.com/diamond-engagement-ring-platinum_7815?parent_oid=

or whiteflash.com

And like others have said... pricescope.com has amazing information. I would start there and check out their website. And start looking online for settings you like and save all of the pictures and narrow it down to what you really like. You can always have something made so that way its what you want.

here is a link to pricescope.com dedicated to halo settings...http://www.pricescope.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=27882

I dont want to hijack your thread but i have a halo setting and we choose the yellow sapphire to go in it... we picked them out separately so we really got what we wanted! We went with a Verragio setting and then picked out the sapphire from our jeweler. And the nice thing is my ring was made to fit my finger, they didnt take a ring out of stock and size it. That makes a difference too, because it really fits my finger.

Wow that is an amazing ring:drool: I absolutely adore the colors. I would've assumed it was a fancy colored diamond, the sapphire is gorgeous! The Verragio setting looks amazing too, I love the style!

I actually just got back from exchanging rings, so I now have ring #1 again:yahoo: I really do love it, just wish it was a little larger. The saleswomen were shocked, lol. They said they are used to women coming in to exchange for a larger ring, but never had anyone come to get the smaller one back! :pI know what you mean about not bothering to exchange it, but I just love having a ring on my finger since I just got engaged and I'm worried if I don't I'll feel to rushed to pick something else. This way I still have a ring I really like to wear and I can take my time finding something comparable but larger! Also, I think it will be good to have for comparison purposes (so I can do a good side by side comparison of anything I might find that has potential, so I will know if it really looks better!)

Thanks for all the advise:smile1:

Thanks!

Thats a good idea like you said to have this ring as comparison while looking at other rings! This way you can decide what you do and don't like.
I would keep looking until you find the ring you love!

Any time we would go places that had jewelry stores I would always go in just to see what they had and to try on rings!

We finally found a local jeweler in our area who is beyond wonderful and we told him our price budget and exactly what we were looking for and anytime a ring would come in he thought we would like he would call us and we would go in to look at it. After trying on so many rings I was about to give up and we were thinking of having one made so we could get exactly what we wanted and our jeweler called and said he found the perfect ring!
It defiantly takes time but don't give up and keep looking! You will find something you love, and if the option of making one worked out thats an amazing route to go too. I have many friends who have had their rings made!

Good Luck and keep us posted!

im very much in the 'buy an amazing stone from a dealer and then get it set the way you want'. Mine was done this way and it basically cost us $8k to get a ring that you would have paid min $16k in a store. And then its YOUR ring and perfect!

I had the stone on my engagement ring reset at my local jeweler and it looks very similar to your first choice and I love it! For my wedding band we chose a gorgeous band by Benchmark and they are a beautiful set.
