So the only law they would be breaking would be the tax law.Yeah as far as i know there is no law stopping some one to sell their goods. Once paid and bought the rightful owner can do anything with the product

I read some where that some receipts say has “ only for personal use” mentioned , am not sure if this is true which will make reselling illegal! May be not in all countries !So the only law they would be breaking would be the tax law.
Not dumb at all! So with Nordstrom, they can ship to me anywhere, not just billing (although I have an SA at the boutique in Orlando who will ship anywhere which is great - prefer to send to my office for signature). I can get double points or 10x points on Chanel during promotions. Heck once last March/April they even did 10% off Chanel items. What is the benefit of them being non-leased? (Sorry if it’s a dumb question...!)
Yes consignment is different. If Fashionphile is buying Chanel items new from the boutique and selling them for profit that should be illegal. So resellers are buying new and marking it up. Consignment are buying used even if in new condition. Instagrams should be shut down unless they have a business license and pay taxes etc. legally.
What is to stop an employee from using their friend to buy them and split the profit? That is what is going on. Its an arrangement and should be illegal. It is side work and usually most companies do not allow it. That is why it asks if you are a relative of an employee on raffles etc. Like that kid who was selling Nike and his mom was like some executive of Nike.
Maybe there is a name for that. Where is the line for resale laws? Do I have to work there in order to get the color combo!? I few years ago maybe 2017 I walked into a Nordstrom and I bought a black zip wallet and they showed me what they had and then took it back and said "oh wait I think "employee A wanted this" are you going to buy it?" I passed and said no you can have it like I was in competition with the employee. I thought very rude and unprofessional. I bought one later from a different employee at the same store it was just a few months later and it was restocked.
Rolex puts your name on the authentication cards to stop resellers. That is what drives the cost up even more but at least they are protecting their customers.
Back to whine here... my NM SA just told me TODAY that Chanel will no longer accept NM gift cards. My mind is melting. I was just looking to make a small purchase (brooch, slg) and they will no longer ship to me even prior to April 15th. This is so so upsetting.
I feel like I’m being pushed into a corner of ONLY buying from resellers lol there is really no other feasible option (And no, routinely flying to a state with a boutique in the *hopes* of finding a dream bag is not a realistic or feasible option for me...)
Probably for tax free states only..,Oh noo! Chanel will no longer accept NM gift cards at all or just for tax-free states? I have a $500 NM gift card and wanted to put it towards my next Chanel purchase.
I recommend checking with your SA. She has told me I’m not able to use my $500 NM gift card towards any purchase at Chanel. Not sure if it only applies to the non-sales tax states or NM in general..Oh noo! Chanel will no longer accept NM gift cards at all or just for tax-free states? I think it has to do with sales tax free states because I used NM gift card yesterday. Check with your SA.I recommend checking with your SA. If you know it's something you will absolutely LOVE. Can you purchase and have them hold until you could pick up in person? I know that's not super feasible, but at least you could secure what you want.Back to whine here... my NM SA just told me TODAY that Chanel will no longer accept NM gift cards. My mind is melting. No, they will not allow a remote purchase. My SA’s have told me I have to be there in person to purchase. Sucks for me. And anyone else who loves Chanel in the non-sales tax states. If you know it's something you will absolutely LOVE. Can you purchase and have them hold until you could pick up in person? Perhaps I am a bit biased because I just moved to DC. Putting the issues of resellers aside, I do think those who actually live and support the infrastructure with their sales and property tax revenues should have priority of purchasing in their local stores over non-tax states. It's really frustrating to pay a lot of money to live in proximity to these boutiques only to go in store and no inventory is available.
I just heard from my SA there will be no waitlist and there is also a limit to purchases now. Does anyone know about this?I agree with you, it’s only fair. However the days of walking into a boutique with stock ready to purchase seem long gone, due to reserve lists. People usually reserve bags weeks or even months in advance, so it’s no longer about proximity, just who has a great contact and reaches that SA first (& VIP clients of course).
I did hear standalone boutique SA’s tell me they are no longer doing reserves starting 21A and everything will be sold on a first come, first serve basis. That’s encouraging to hear, but then again, plenty of people on TPF and Facebook groups seem to still be able to reserve for 21a. Not sure what is actually true.
I’m right there with you on this one. I live in a state with a relatively high sales tax and it’s definitely annoying having slim pickings for selections at my local boutique as a lot of items are shipped out to other states. I’m hoping this new policy will have some positive impacts such as reduced reseller power and increased availability of items.Perhaps I am a bit biased because I just moved to DC.
