She's not in Oregon but she ships stuff to avoid paying taxes. A forwarding company then ships the bag to the buyer. Crazy I know.
I guess she has it figured out and makes money. Why couldn't I just drive to Mexico buy a bunch
of stuff cheap and sell it in America? Isn't that illegal? That is what I am saying. The model is not right. There are no business laws in resale? I thought about how in CA there are no exotic sales so could you technically go buy it in another state and bring it back? It is like all the covid law breakers you won't let us go to Disneyland so I will fly to Disney World instead. Laws are for only those who abide by them. There is no oversight. Integrity is a art now instead of a unwavering moral guide.

I'm not an accountant but have been told you are supposed to report these purchases as you should be paying tax on them. I know for customers it's an attractive option saving the tax but its not right either way really.
Thank you for answering and clearing that up. So technically they should be paying taxes in their state. Thank you!

She shouldn't be even allowed to hang out at the store and take pictures there. It's weird that she like considers the store's inventory as hers. She posts these items on IG and then people reply, she basically just piles on the price or takes the difference in taxes. Her using these items like they're hers when she hasn't paid for them and acting like she's an employee of Chanel when she's not is somewhat fraudulent. Chanel might have a case against people like her and that SA.

Definitely, the SA that works there is an enabler. The bag limits are not already being followed as per company policy. Forget the taxes but just the policy alone, that SA should be fired and that seller should be banned or even sued by Chanel.

Chanel has come to amicable terms with RealReal now . Case closed
Yeah I saw that. But TRR is a place to consign which I’m totally ok with. Ppl lifestyle changes and some bags don’t work out for them anymore. But the resellers are the ones that take up all the stocks and make them unavailable for ppl who actually want them. So I think Chanel should go after the resellers instead of TRR

I in no way have first hand experience working at Chanel stores and leased boutiques but, having worked retail, I've learned it is nearly impossible to crack on diversion. Everyone works for money, everyone has goals they must meet, and not all managers or salespeople abide by the rules. If one manager will turn a blind eye, many resellers can benefit. It isn't hard to know who is buying to resell, I'm sure their salespeople know very well, but aren't willing to let go because they know if they don't do it, someone else will.

Yes consignment is different. If Fashionphile is buying Chanel items new from the boutique and selling them for profit that should be illegal. So resellers are buying new and marking it up. Consignment are buying used even if in new condition. Instagrams should be shut down unless they have a business license and pay taxes etc. legally.

What is to stop an employee from using their friend to buy them and split the profit? That is what is going on. Its an arrangement and should be illegal. It is side work and usually most companies do not allow it. That is why it asks if you are a relative of an employee on raffles etc. Like that kid who was selling Nike and his mom was like some executive of Nike.

Maybe there is a name for that. Where is the line for resale laws? Do I have to work there in order to get the color combo!? I few years ago maybe 2017 I walked into a Nordstrom and I bought a black zip wallet and they showed me what they had and then took it back and said "oh wait I think "employee A wanted this" are you going to buy it?" I passed and said no you can have it like I was in competition with the employee. I thought very rude and unprofessional. I bought one later from a different employee at the same store it was just a few months later and it was restocked.

Rolex puts your name on the authentication cards to stop resellers. That is what drives the cost up even more but at least they are protecting their customers.

Chanel case against TRR was for selling counterfeits

I agree resale via instagram should be shut down !
there are more wholesalers selling fakes and scammers on instagram that soo many are getting scammed and losing money !

selling via authorised dealers like fashionphile gives peace of mind to sellers!
