eBay Non-Paying Bidder List

I understand what you are saying but I really don't think this buyer is going to follow through with the sale, whether or not you give her more time. It appears she has buyers remorse. I would follow through with the non payment case. Once the time elapses you will get your final credit fee and listing fee reversed and will be able to list it again.
It really bothers me when buyers don't follow through.
You were right. I asked trad_431 to specify what additional angles she needed. Never heard from her again. Blocked and moved on : (

I hear that! When I have expensive items I note on the top of my listing SERIOUS BIDDERS ONLY! ; but that doesn't stop people with zero feedback from bidding. I wish I could stop them from bidding but I believe it's against eBay's rules and regulations; that why I use that option (don't remember the exact wording) about having minus??? feedback. (It's in the buyer restrictions).
But when buyers don't pay you have to wait "x" amount of days for you to relist. It's not fair to the seller and prospective buyers who actually want to purchase the item.
If you have more than one bidder; you can offer a second chance offer to the next highest bidder; but sometimes they just pass.

Re red: If that terminology is in the buyer restrictions, it's a holdover from pre-2008. Since 2008, buyers won't have negative feedback (unless that buyer is also a seller who got negged on a sale).
Re blue: It's not required that you wait to relist. If you have a pretty good idea that a buyer will be a non-payer, you can relist right away. Then if by chance the buyer does pay, you can end the new listing.

I guess I was living in the dark ages lol. I don't sell all the time. I always thought that's what it said till I just looked lol. Thanks for the heads up. Bur more times than often it's a new buyer that doesn't pay. Once this happens I just block them from bidding on my other stuff.

I think the last time I sold was almost a year ago; however I did have a non-paying auction winner and eBay wouldnt let me re-list till x amount of days. I had to wait the 3rd day for the non-paying bidder assistant to submit non-paying bidder open case and then wait 5 ? days (to give them a chance to pay). After that I was able to re-list.
I didn't know I could re-list it again without having to wait. I thought eBay would give me a hard time to re-list it with another one open.
Thanks for the info.

Hmmm so now I received a bid for a bag I listed at 549; there are only 8 hours left (had it listed for 7 days). This bidder has only 1 feedback rating; I wonder what's going to happen???? Let me stay positive. :)

Ok the seller with 1 feedback won my auction yesterday afternoon. I sent her a congratulatory message; and nothing. I believe it said they have 48 hours to respond.

Now if I don't hear from the bidder, the iunpaid assistant states it doesn't kick in till 4 days; with 4 days for the bidder to respond; only at which time I will get my final credit fee reversed and an unpaid strike against the bidder.

Question: is there a faster way? Lol :)

"BeenBurned" you stated something about resisting it at anytime; can that still be done; with this bidder getting a strike against her because I really want that to happen. I'm tired of these bidders not folllwing through.
Thanks

I have my account set up so the buyer would get the notice as a non paying bidder at 3 days, not 4. I can't remember how many days after that they have to pay for the item, at one time it was a full week. You don't get credit until that time and technically you're not supposed to relist the item before that either.

There really is no other way to do it.

Hi thanks for your response. I always thought it was 3 days myself until I checked. It states the unpaid assistant doesnt kick in after 4,8,16 etc days. I guess eBay changed it.
I'm wondering if I dont let the assistant do it and manually do it myself if it will be quicker.

Hi After checking the rules and regs; it states I can manually open a case in the resolution center after 48 hours; which will be later this afternoon.

I just hate it when bidders don't follow through. As I mentioned earlier, it was a bidder with 1 feedback. (I really wish they would give us an option to prohibit those with less than a certain amount of fb ratings from bidding when you have high end stuff listed; but of course it's prohibited.)

When the case is closed I will be blocking this bidder.

No, I do not cancel bids for people. Bids are contracts. .You screw up my auctions and listings, you deal with it. If I cancel your order, I get dinged, so no thanks. You can wait two days and get an unpaid item case. I did make an offer to the other person, who is, of course, unresponsive. UGH. Hate people.

Good for you!!
Well in less than an hour I will be opening an unpaid item case. (I sent them a congratulatory message and the next day I sent an invoice through eBay with discounted shipping charges). No communication whatsoever! In the past when I did this and the buyer wanted to cancel, I did. Not this time, I'm tired of it. I will wait the "x" amount of days so they will get an unpaid strike against their account!

Here's one I haven't had before -- buyer paid, but paid with an e-check that was DECLINED. PayPal never really specifies why payments go through as an e-check rather than a bank draft; I know my account was screwed up in October and delaying all payments, which was annoying. It says it'll try again, and the payment will come to me in two weeks. NO THANKS. I forwarded the e-mail to the buyer to let her know her payment was declined, asked if she had a credit card or something, no answer. eBay keeps telling me, "oh, you can block buyers with less than X feedback ratings," but I've had numerous sales lately, as always to people that are new or with 1 feedback rating, and they were fine, so I really can't afford to do that.

But who doesn't have $350 in his or her bank account? And if you don't, don't buy Gucci shoes, plain and simple.

If you know for a fact she won't pay, you can relist the item. But I think you're way premature in considering doing it at this point.

Non paying bidder; won auction; no communication.

Years ago, an unpaid item dispute couldn't be opened for 7 days. That has changed several times and now it can be opened as early as 2 days after the listing ended.

Once the dispute has been opened, the buyer has 4 days to pay so it's really unfair of you to post the buyer's ID at this point (right after the dispute was opened).

As you said, she's a newbie and may not understand how the system works. Or she may be waiting for her Paypal/banking information to confirm.

While I get that you're anxious to get paid, ebay allows buyers up to a minimum of 6 days (2 days IUD then 4 days to pay) so being impatient doesn't help anyone and only serves to stress you out.

The buyer may indeed be a deadbeat but I think you should have waited until after 4 days to close the dispute and post her ID.

JMHO.

Hi. Thanks for your input and I appreciate your candor but I feel that I was correct in listing this buyer as a non-paying bidder because my listing required payment within 48 hours; which wasn't completed. I even emailed this bidder congratulating them. Why then at that time didn't say they made a mistake. It would've been ok with me. But "no" nothing!
As I mentioned, this bidder is fairly new with one feedback and bidded 8 hours before my auction ended; why even bid? If you couldn't afford it!!
And no communication. So no I don't feel I was premature.
But thanks for you input.

Did the buyer pay with the e-check within the designated 48 hours? She did make the payment and it could have been declined for a variety of reasons, it's possible she thought she had the funds in her account. A deadbeat technically is someone who 'deliberately avoids paying debts' and she did make the effort. We'll never really know what happened on her end.
