I have had 30 wonderful buying/selling experiences on bonanza. I am just saying that I have been lucky so far. So I ventured out to ebay. I have been very afraid to do any buying on ebay because of all the horrible stories. But there was a bag that was looking for for years & found it on ebay.

Can you tell me if I should be afraid with my first experience. On Monday, I bid for a bag - $140 & won. The seller had 96% positive feedback. At least 450 transactions that were positive. She only had one negative feedback that said she never communicated, never sent item, but gave refund. A few others left positive feedback but said "delayed shipping, so they asked for refund - which was given). The rest were "excellent service, fast shipping, great communication, etc".

I bid on the bag monday at 10 a.m. won the bid at 1:30 p.m. Paid when I got home from work at 2:30 p.m. It is Friday & she still has not shipped or communicated at all! I sent her a note yesterday asking when she would ship. No answer. I sent her another email tonight. I know it was Thanksgiving, but that is only one day. She had Tuesday & Wed & today to communicate/ship. If she told me from the beginning that she is going away, can't ship til next week, etc., I would have been ok, but NOTHING! No communication at all. Am I worrying too soon? I mean, she was around on Monday to accept my offer - couldn't she communicate if she was going away for the holidays, etc.? In her item description she said she ships promptly. I could never do that to anyone. I always ship within on day of cleared payment (which mine was) & if I ever could not, I would let the buyer know right away.

Just wanted to vent. I am just annoyed because I don't see why she can't give simple communication. She also said she plans on cleaning out her closet & listing many more high end items. Doesn't she care about her feedback? I don't get people. No more ebay for me. Or actually, if there is more than one similar complaint, I will not buy from that seller.

I agree that she should be more communicative and although I'm not a huge advocate of star-dinging, a seller who consistently has comments regarding a lack of communication and slow shipping means that your case is not an exception.

Fortunately, you have your buyer protection and although you want the bag more than your refund, you can sleep comfortably knowing that you won't be out both in the event she doesn't follow through.

I'm really sorry your first ebay experience isn't turning out to be a positive one -- at least not yet, but I wouldn't give up on ebay either.

As bad as ebay can be, it does have the benefit of being the largest and as such, you can get that HG item you might not find elsewhere.

Give it time and hopefully, your seller will come through, if not with communication, at least with the bag.

On the payment tab, how many days does it say it takes for the seller to ship? It should say something like "ships within 2 days of receving cleared payment".

Listen to the smart lady, BeachGirl...eBay isn't SO bad -- the people are annoying and inconsistent sometimes, but also consider the sheer numbers of people conducting those transactions. Not everyone considers it a business, although I'm not sure what else they'd call it. And not everyone thinks professionalism is called for - regardless of the label!

This just means you get a little more education. :smile1: It helps to pay attention to the little details of ads, and if seller feedback is like that, weigh your willingness to assume risk before you buy. I've purchased more than one item that I had to ask myself WHAT WAS I THINKING!? since seller feedback was similar to what you experienced. But sometimes, the seller is just having a really crappy year and is getting overwhelmed, but not adept enough at communicating.

Cheer up, and be patient. See how it develops before you take the next step. I hope your item gets there soon!

Hey ladies! Any idea what USPS Priority mail timeframes are from US to UK right now? I sent a small item (makeup) to the UK...and it's been 12 days.

Thanks!! :)

Update: Package was delivered and positive feedback received from buyer. :)

Delivery took 20 days.

Little ebay frustration. I don't sell very often but I have a couple auctions up now. I listed shipping prices for Canada & the US & asked bidders to contact me for the rates to other countries. I had a potential bidder ask how much shipping to their country, I looked it up & let them know a few options (w/ tracking & w/o, the time it would take, etc). They replied & asked how much to ship it USPS 1st class. I reply & let them know I'm in Canada & ship via Canada Post, not USPS. They again asked how much for 1st class. Canada Post doesn't have a service called 1st class so I replied again w/ the options from my first message. I don't know what they want.

I kinda just want to tell them sure I'll ship USPS but they'll have to pay to cover my lost wages from a day of work & my gas money from driving 2 hrs down to the US :D

Thanks for the great advice - I will be patient & if I do not receive the bag/get any kind of communication by mid next week I will go for a refund. I have definately heard worst stories than mine. I just have to be more careful next time.

I will not give up on ebay - especially since my 2nd purchase was a perfect one. I bought a cole haan bag that I loved since I first saw it 7 years ago. I saw it on sale in Saks back then, but never bought it. Of course I regretted it since. I have been thinking about that bag ever since & I found it (the exact color & style I wanted) Monday on ebay for a steal! I was the winning bidder. I just received it yesterday & it is in perfect brand new condition, the leather is so gorgeous.

Thank you so much for your advice xUHOHx. I will be patient & hope that she sends it out next week. If I don't get the bag/communication by midweek, I will go for a refund. Too bad though...I really love the bag. The good thing was that she did have mostly "great communication, fast shipping, sweet seller, etc." so she may just be having a busy week. She also did issue refunds to those 3 people who did not get their items, so I am glad about that. I will wait & see what happens. I have heard much worse stories than mine!

She said in her item description "I ship promptly". Her payment tab says "within 2 - 3 days of cleared payment". I paid immediately Monday early afternoon through Paypal. So I guess with the holiday this week that took away 1 day. But she had Tues, Wed, Fri. & today. A simple email that she cannot ship til next week would have made a huge difference - I just don't get why they don't do that. I would never leave a buyer worried like that. Oh well, I will be patient & if I do not get bag/communication by next week I will go for a refund.

I also wonder if she regrets letting the bag go. She had this bag on & off sale for over a year. She declined 6 bids throughout that time until she accepted mine (which was $49 lower than the asking price). I wonder if she thinks she can get more for it, or if she just wants to keep it.

Still no response to my 4 emails & still no bag over a week later. Item has not been marked as shipped. My payment cleared immediately last Monday 11/21. I am so mad. I am not able to get buyer's protection started until Dec. 3rd.

Seller is around because I checked her recent feedback & she made a purchase on 11/26. This is the third time that this seller has not sent a person an item that they paid for. She has 460 positive feedback, so I figured I would give her the benefit of a doubt! Next time I will be more careful!

Opinions wanted. I guess this is as good a place as any to post this. I was looking at this listing for CL shoes on Ebay for a friend. She doesn't want used shoes. The photos in the listing almost seem to look a bit worn. I simply asked the seller for more pictures and explained why I was asking. Here's my message to her:
You state that you haven't worn these shoes but the pictures make it appear as if the tips are worn. Can you send me additional pictures of the bottom of the shoe and the imprint on the inside? Thanks!
Her response back to me caught me a bit off guard.
You are accusing me of lying in my charity auction listing and then ask me to go out of my way and send you more photos? Are you joking? Please do not bid on my items. Thank you.
Maybe I'm not reading my message to her in the same way she is but I don't find anything in my question accusing her of lying. Am I nuts or is she just a nasty seller?? I'm tempted to respond but maybe it's better if I let it go. What do you think??
(also I was unsure of authorization on the shoes so I had posted in that thread and am still waiting on response so I hope for this seller's sake that they are not fake)

Wow. I wouldn't have said your note was accusing her of lying, although I might've written it a little differently. Considering she has over 1,000 feedback -- and one Whopper of a negative -- and sells a number of high fashion items, you'd think she would take close up photos of the key clues/indicators. Should you trust just ANYBODY who claims to sell real stuff without proof?? Uh, no. I would vote her a touch unreasonable. And I certainly would just let it go unless they turn out fake. (And that black rubbing on both soles at the ball of the foot looks rather odd...)
