I'm glad you got another winner. I love the Bordeaux color. Enjoy carrying your new
beauty.

I'm wondering how the Sloan and the Twist Strap Hobo differ? Anyone know? The overall shape is the same, both have the twist strap and a zipper top. Is it the strap color that is different between the collections or the way the bottom of the bag is constructed or the measurements of the bags?
The Sloan is a long tapered rectangle. it has a flat panel bottom with feet and will stand up by itself. The twist strap hobo is smaller and more curvy in shape with a stitched bottom with no feet.
i tried on the twist strap hobo at the outlet, knowing the Sloan was en route. This Sloan was cheaper than the twist strap hobo. The handles are the same. With the smile there’s a lot of drop. I haven’t tried the elbow test yet

Thank you. I’m loving her pretty self.
The texture should prevent a lot of surface scratching. But right now the bag
is missing that lux Florentine feel.
we will see how different the textured behave. This feels like thick Florentine, but doesn’t have the thickness of older Florentine leather and smells divine. Even the tassels are textured.
I haven't
conditioned the bag.
Do you think u will eventually condition it? I wasn’t going to condition a new bag but the water/ snow spots worry me. After I conditioned and buffed the Ivy mini, she was shining and really glowing
I guess it like us putting lotion On our skin, moisture add sheen and softness and shine… Duh. Don’t mind me I’m not the sharpest tool in the shed. LOL

My BFF revoked my Illinois Card when I moved here and complained about how cold it was. I told het it's not winter in Chicago cold but it's still cold. (By the way, yesterday morning when I was driving my youngest GDD to school, I had to use the coffee top from the Starbucks cup my DD left in the car to scrape the ice off the front window. It got that cold but my Illinois friends have no sympathy. )
Was 17 degrees when I took the dog out this morning… brrrrrrrrrrrrr I’m not ready for the hawk(wind)to claw my face. It’s supposed to go up to 40 by Friday glad I’ll be off to enjoy it.
since the sun set around 5p here it’s super cold with the winds whipping.
lol coffee lid scraping lololololol

Temperature changes are harder to adjust to as we get used to a different
climate and as we add a few years of living.

I've lived in the NY area in several different cities, my
entire life, but 50 degree weather in the fall is cold and 50 degree weather in
the spring seems lovely. That's because the body is used to warmer or colder weather
and the change is more unpleasant when going from 60's to 50's (in the fall) than from
the 40's to the 50's in the spring.

My brother moved from CT to FL about 3 years ago. He now complains
about the cold in NY when he visits during November. 🙄 This is the same
person who shoveled snow and dealt with NE winters for many years,
without comment.

Frost on the windshield means it's cold, no matter where you are.
But if you deal with feet of snow all winter, then a little frost is
nothing to get excited about. When snow is rare.... then no one keeps
and ice scraper in the car at all times.

But it's more than perception...
a little snow or ice in an area that doesn't see that weather often can
be very dangerous... people don't have the experience driving in those
conditions, cars aren't equipped with proper tires, and the roads aren't treated,
and often there is no snow removal
equipment in the towns. That's why we hear of so many accidents or massive delays
in areas that get a 'freak' snow storm.

But right now the bag
is missing that lux Florentine feel.
Is it because it’s not smooth to your touch. Do you have many textured Florentine?
my large chestnut flo satchel has wrinkled sides but they feel smooth and silky. They even look glossier than the main body. It’s weird. The medium chestnut wristlet is smooth and silky. I don’t know if this is part of the patina process and constant handling or not. The navy wristlet does not feel like this, I haven’t used it yet either. Can you see how shiny, silky, smoothe this wristlet is? The wristlet strap doesn’t look or feel like this because I haven’t used it…

im trying to angle it so the shine is apparent. Feels so good

I'm like your brother. (Except I complained about the cold almost every day in the winter!) My sister moved to SF in 1986 and planned her visits to Illinois during the late Spring, early Summer. Now I know why. It's harder to get used to the winters again.

in December we usually travel to Vegas. The weather is perfect there compared to the freezing cold here. It’s cold to those who live in Vegas but to a Chicagoan , we would be wearing shorts lol

I generally don't condition my Florentine handbags, unless I feel they need it.
Since I buy new, I usually let them age for a year or two before applying conditioner.
But I might condition this natural bag next time I take her out. I'm curious to see how
she softens on her own, with use, before I condition the leather.

I know that the leather will soften with use because it will be handled and
absorb oils from my hands and also just the carrying of the bag will
cause the leather to flex and bring oils to the surface.

I'm not a big fan
of conditioning handbags (partly because Dooney doesn't
recommend it) and partly because it might darken the color
of the handbag (especially a natural Flo). I've also had a red Flo bag
bleed onto the cloth while applying conditioner. so I do have some concerns
over the interaction of the conditioners with the dyes used on the
handbags. (Was the dye just supersaturated and the conditioner released
the excess or was there a chemical interaction?) I always test each handbag
when I plan to condition it, just to be sure there are no issues. I look for color
transfer, blotchiness or changes in the color, or staining.

With older bags I'm more relaxed about the whole thing. 🙄

What about the rain and stain guard, have you ever used that?

 You can't guess the temperature in December in Vegas just by looking at what people are wearing because some people are wrapped up (me!) And others are in shorts.

What about the rain and stain guard, have you ever used that?
No. I haven't used rain and stain guard. Maybe I should but I don't have the outdoor
space to spray the products and I'm very sensitive to sprays.

I generally don't carry a Flo bag when I know the weather will be bad.
But.... over the years, I've used many black and navy Flo handbags
and they have not water spotted in the rain. It's only as I've moved into
more colors and also try to change my handbag as often as possible that
I coordinate my outfit and handbag in terms of color, function, and
weather. 🤣

As for staining from oils/food/coffee.... I try to be super careful...
I never carry greasy food/snacks in my Flo handbags and I rarely
eat take-out on the run these days. Of course, in a restaurant it's
hard to control the environment. I've learned never to take a Flo
handbag to a buffet or rib joint. And that goes for undyed vachetta
trim on any handbag too. I just seem to be a magnet for random
oil and food stains. Large, delicious chocolate chip cookies can ruin a handbag...
inside and out.... faster than you can devour the cookie!

I seem to get the most spots from water marks.... from random
drips while washing my hands while holding a handbag. Since I don't
shoulder or cross body carry, the bags are over my arm and there
seems to be little way to get around it.... can't put the bag down
on a wet counter or the floor of a public place, even a Clippa doesn't
solve the sink/hand washing challenge.

The day of the Polar Vortex I called my son and told him to stay inside. He was 24 at the time so you know how that ended. Yep, he drove to the store and hit a car! In the freezing cold completing police reports. :noggin: At least the damage was minor and every one could drive away.

We do get smarter with experience. So maybe there is hope for the next time.
Luckily everyone was ok. Why did he not recognize that you knew what you
were talking about? 🙄🙄🙄🙄 Do the young think the laws of physics and
nature have changed?

I always sarcastically tell my children, I guess I'm not young enough to know everything like you.
