Would you mind explaining how this handled by D&B? - I’m only asking because I’ve read D&B customer service is awful.
In my experience, if you process a return on Dooney or ILD thru their site,
the process works just fine. You fill out the form, print it and the return label and
take the package to UPS. If you marked the item defective Dooney will examine
it and decide if they will return your return shipping cost. If not, the return shipping
will be deducted from your refund.
Sometimes you have to follow up on the return shipping refund. I've been
most successful thru online chat. But sometimes, like if you just don't
like the texture of the bag or uneven pebbling, they will say that's not a defect.
Getting your return shipping refunded is not automatic. But it shouldn't stop
you from returning an item... just know up front that online purchases are not
a way to get a free look see at an item. Even QVC charges for returns these
days, unless the item is damaged or defective.
In any event, don't leave the return until the end of the return period and especially
during the holidays, send an item back as soon as possible. I usually send an
item back within a few days of getting it. Sometimes I have to do an online chat
to get the return label, since the system doesn't even reflect the delivery yet.
I don't wait. My bottom line, if you follow their rules, Dooney and ILD are
credible and trustworthy companies to deal with. I've always gotten my refund
for returned items or for an item that was out of stock.
