i got mine off eBay nwt. I’ve watched a couple videos on the steel blue before I purchased. Some said the leather was thin and it didn’t smell or feel like Florentine. I really wanted the large steel blue, so when I saw it come up, I pounced on it. Unfortunately mine is definitely NOT that older thick thick leather like my chestnut. I know some colors, baby pink, taupe, pale blue maybe came thin,slouchy, matte Leather. Maybe it was just the batch of bags mine came in. I don’t know if you can see the slouching, I tried to capture it. It’s also lighter than my chestnut probably because the leather is thinner…

Perhaps the smell, or lack of the leather smell, is due to how or where it was stored. As far as the leather, mine isn't the old thick- thick, but it is substantial. I'm so sorry you're not happy with it! :( Like you said maybe it was just a less that stellar batch.

I've been studying your photos & honestly I don't see anything wrong with the bag. I don't see any puddling. Those large bags do slouch. It is A LOT of leather. What you think of the bag is what counts of course, but personally I think you did good. It's beautiful. :loveeyes:

Thank you for your reply. Oh I love it, it’s just different from my other satchel. Anytime I see someone with the steel blue, I ask. it’s my summer carry.

Hiiiiii. Got off work. Got home after midnite. There was a package on the counter…. Hee hee
What a way to wind down after work, better than happy hour. Dooney and Bourke Florentine satchel with ppockets in chestnut. The seller is awesome and took very good care of this bag. It’s beautiful and one of a kind. It’s got tiger stripes on both sides. I like that Dooney matched the sides like this, making this bag so unique I’d be able to pick it out of a line up. I love her and I am very happy to add her to my collection At a great price.

I think I’m becoming a snob with bags, LOL! I’m only seeking out bags that have the whipstitch handles. :lol:

The whip stitch detail on the early Florentine bags is beautiful. And I think it was very
underappreciated at the time (at least by me). Now, comparing the more recent styles to the older styles, I wish I had collected even more of the early Flo bags.
